Me and my mates played this a fair bit. More likely to get a bunch of 40 year olds running around screaming than any true horror game.

Agreed! brilliant game, Wife and I played it through in 2020 (co-op) and have both just restarted the release version - Terrifying! No longer can I just jump onto a branch to get safe from the beasties. The wolf spider and others now just jump and climb up after you. Only 6 hours in so far, but I'm hoping they have added in 50-mag grenade launchers. Cheers for all you do Mac
Played it in 2020 and it was already obvious it was going to be great... sunk in loads of time on it and enjoyed the co-op. Tried it again over a year ago and was shocked at how much more had been added... genuinely an amazing game; it's fun, it looks beautiful, sounds great, has some depth to it's systems, awesome with friends and also requires a regular change of underwear. What more could you want.
This game is a textbook example of how to develope a game the right way. Devs did a great job!

Great to hear that this works as SP game as well. Nothing as frustrating as looking forward to a game, only to realise it really works only in coop.
I've watched my friend play this in early access over the course of the last two years. Finally picked it up for myself last week and I've been having a blast with friends. It's such a hidden gem in an otherwise stale year for gaming. I was astonished when my friends and I actually found the ants stashing food next to this watering hole, we saw them collecting it and walking back so we followed them, the A.I in this game is next level.
"You vill eat ze bugs, unt be happy" doesn't look so bad now actually...
Useless Fact:
This is one of the original titles for "Honey, I shrunk the kids", which I randomly discovered last night before randomly seeing this game on Steam this morning. So I presume they "nicked" it from that, using a thrown away title for a film the game pays homage to.

Had a few really amazing sessions of this. Remember the night me and my friends spent terrified trying to hide from a very persistent wolf spider, boy that was tense.

I have built a small base around an old soda can so I can grab my spear and mount a gnat hunting expeddition to a nearby pond. Honestly, never played a survival game before and this is the most fun I have had in a game in a long while. I am also terrified of spiders and not fond of bugs in general, so yeah my butt is clenched most of the time.
I hope they do a VR version of this.

Its an Unreal Engine 4 game, so the UE VR Injector mod should just work with it!

@@BlackGold-fc7tu Yes, there is also a creative mode in which you can basically just use it as a big sandbox
subnautica is fun but the performance issues absolutely kill the game at times for me.
Loved this game played it during an Open BETA back in 2020. enjoyed playing with my brother been following development since then as i loved it so much, just bought it again as this year has been so stale and i really want something to seek my teeth into while im not working so this will be the game. great review as always :)

Valheim is definitely also a great game. Only thing holding it back is the slow updates.

I absolutely have always loved your videos, like this one right here. The way you get so excited about the game makes me want to buy it, just about every game you have ever been excited about, i have bought and never been disappointed. So when a game isn't your cup of tea, i stay away from it.

Got this on Game Pass, unfortunately there was no sound on Xbox fpr some reason so had to install on PC. Been playing this evening and am loving it. Was chased by some nasty bugs and got scared as hell.
me and my friends all have sound and your the first person ive heard that doesnt.....must have corrupted somehow
@@davidcarlton2513 Have no idea what's wrong with it, even tried to installing it twice on xbox. Sometimes the dialogue audio on PC also messes up.
I guess Xbox Game Studios and Obsidian makes it a triple A game too. I'm flabbergasted.

Wooh, glad to see this! I saw this earlier today on Steam (or was it yesterday, I can't remember), and went looking for a decent review, and was a bit miffed to see that you hadn't covered it yet (not that that would stop me from buying it, I am just burned out with survival games and wont buy another one until I am certain it is worth it).
I haven't watched it yet (I jumped straight to the comments), but I am looking forward to hearing your take on it.
Not touched the game since it first went into EA but i cant wait to dive back in for the release.
I might try this if it was split screen with someone, but there's no way I'm going to be sitting in a room playing this by myself.

Spiders in this are tame compared to the ones in Earth Defense Force. Once those guys spray webbing on you you are stuck and it's like being stun locked by a pro-player in Marvel Vs Capcom doing some crazy infinite combo. LOL And guess what? You don't see one giant spider. You have hordes of them so expect multiple webs and multiple attacks from all sides. You think you can get away in a tank, mech or armored troop carrier? Oh no. That just makes you a bigger target for the web shots so it completely gets destroyed within seconds of the horde on top of you. Only solution is be good at dodging last second, have better weapons, or call airstrike that is focused shot from above. Otherwise just hope you have bullets that go through enemies or a flamethrower to kill them efficiently. The ants are pretty scary too but they can't hang in the air on the web to shoot at you from high angle.

I hope this is moddable for Arachnophobia Plus where they change the models to look "Realistic" with fuzz and beadier eyes, and nastier animations. And then the rest of the bugs to look NASTY and then some gore to fit the death descriptions.

Even though this is not the kind of game Obsidian is known for, I think it's their best work. It's certainly my favorite from among their games (I'm not a New Vegas worshipper).

I tried the demo a while ago and I had to mute the VO as I found them intensely irritating. The game itself, didn't grab me, love the concept though.

An original title for the film was "Grounded" among other possible titles(All found out by the Minty Comedic Arts channel of "Ten things you didn't know about..." series he does). I do not think this was a coincidence. The film could have been called Teenie Weenies (original name of the idea).
