I LOVED these games back in the day, me and my friend used to spend ages building maps and there are so many options for multiplayer modes. Completely agree with you that they should remaster these, I guess they may be a bit too politically incorrect for the games industry nowadays though :/
What is your mouse and keyboard setup? I've been trying to experiment with the controls, but they don't feel right. Edit: solution found in gggmans pinned comment
One of the appeals of these games was sitting around playing with mates. Playing any of the game modes was fun, though it's important to note that in campaign co-op they removed a lot of sequences where in singleplayer your partner had highly (or medium) scripted things to do; which is a shame because some of them were cool and it also makes for a much shorter game (No rescuing the captain's girlfriend in Mission 2, no sniper sequence in Russia, yadda) Another thing you didn't mention was the mapmaker, which if you knew what you were doing (and of course had mate/s to play with) could produce results much more fun than the actual maps. For example I made a map designed for Virus where you all start on one end and have to get to the other end where a few safe rooms were, but the button in the safe room locks and unlocks someone else's door, not your own; so it was up to you to make an alliance with another player, then decide whether to betray them to win or just run out the clock and share equal place. And TSFP let you use online mode to share/download/play custom maps, so if you weren't very creative you could always download the best of someone else's maps. Mapmaker alone gave me months of playtime back in the day
Yknow I’ve haven’t been able to place why I’ve been so satisfied watching your videos but one small thing I can chalk it up too is how cathartic hearing you say “sheeeeit” is
@11:48 THQ Nordic bought the rights to Timesplitters back in august, I'd expect to see something within the next 2 years. Probs do a Darksiders style thing where they release a remaster/remake and see how it does before doing sequals
RemnantOfThePast they won't. Like Crytek (as gracious as they were, they were still unforgiving in software use, making anyone releasing their products in CryEngine, which was rumored to be extremely fucky and inconsistent), THQ isn't going to touch the series' current entries because of a project already (and still) in the making.
RemnantOfThePast so it’s not the same as them owning the license, Koch Media Operate as a wholly owned subsidiary ie different company. There’s literally a quote from Lars Wingefors the THQ owner stating this.
The problem with getting a remaster is the studio got brought by Crytek, who while working on Homefront the license got brought by Deep Silver, and the staff moved to a new studio owned by Deep Silver. So I have no idea where the source code is and THQ now apparently owns the IP.
One thing kinda confuses me, you say you're playing with mouse and keyboard via the emulator, but the on-screen button prompts are of actual keys and mouse buttons? Is it a mod? Or does the emulator itself do it?
damn. I haven't even watched the full video and the animations are just stunning for this game. so alive and characteristic. not something we see a lot of.
I remember playing this game when I was younger with my little brother on multiplayer all the time, I could remember the characters and their lines very well but couldn’t remember the game and eventually figured out it was time splitters and now I found out it’s this exact one and it is very nostalgic.
"I would rather put foreign objects up my arse" Huh... I thought that was a hobby of yours =p Really though, good video and I very much miss these shooters.
The companies unfortunately went under and the rights where floating around somewhere but one of the orginal companies employees got the rights and is supposibly working on a new Timesplitters, this is what I've read semi recently.

Sgt Cortez is one of my favorite characters on video games, he is so charismatic and funny, on the other hand we have the playable section this game won't disappoint us, is very fast and it run at a solid 60 fps on every systems. and if we talk about its content, oh my god, it has many ways to play it and many characters to do it.
"The Flare Gun is a one shot firing weapon that takes a dog's age to reload." That was the only weapon I used in Multiplayer. People hated me for being able to hit every single time lmao.
Look at gggmanlives's pinned comment, there is the link to the mouse & keyboard setup tutorial
TS Future Perfect....my favorite game in the series. Jo-Beth Casey For The Win!!!
Who’s here because this has just been announced for PS+?
Bought it this weekend and im having a blast!
One of the appeals of these games was sitting around playing with mates. Playing any of the game modes was fun, though it's important to note that in campaign co-op they removed a lot of sequences where in singleplayer your partner had highly (or medium) scripted things to do; which is a shame because some of them were cool and it also makes for a much shorter game (No rescuing the captain's girlfriend in Mission 2, no sniper sequence in Russia, yadda)
Another thing you didn't mention was the mapmaker, which if you knew what you were doing (and of course had mate/s to play with) could produce results much more fun than the actual maps.

Am I the only one who finds that little opening hatch for shell casings on the gun model's left side adorable? :D
Man, they don't make video game women like that anymore.
Yes they totally do lol.

Yknow I’ve haven’t been able to place why I’ve been so satisfied watching your videos but one small thing I can chalk it up too is how cathartic hearing you say “sheeeeit” is
Looks pretty damn fun, gotta say, and visually appealing despite the age. The animations especially are really well done, across the board.
Growing up with games like this was great. If only we could get a remaster at least.
Absolute classic of a trilogy. Though I may be slightly biased

@11:48 THQ Nordic bought the rights to Timesplitters back in august, I'd expect to see something within the next 2 years. Probs do a Darksiders style thing where they release a remaster/remake and see how it does before doing sequals
Yeah, it can't be that expensive to do a remaster on TimeSplitters?
KOCH MEDIA = DEEP SILVER. USE GOOGLE.
@@fioredeutchmark Koch Media is owned by THQ Nordic. How about you use google...
RemnantOfThePast so it’s not the same as them owning the license, Koch Media Operate as a wholly owned subsidiary ie different company. There’s literally a quote from Lars Wingefors the THQ owner stating this.
Now i really have to play this on pc!!! Dolphin emulator you say?
It's a GameCube and Wii emulator it's probably my favorite emulation program to date
Good luck finding an emulator and the disc download. *Looks at Nintendo with pure rage*

the amount of nostalgia flooding back to me is insane, thank you for this video
The problem with getting a remaster is the studio got brought by Crytek, who while working on Homefront the license got brought by Deep Silver, and the staff moved to a new studio owned by Deep Silver. So I have no idea where the source code is and THQ now apparently owns the IP.
Been waiting and still waiting for timesplitters 4. One day...

I love the part when the protagonist says "Time to split" and he starts to splitting everyone, underrated masterpiece 🗿
One thing kinda confuses me, you say you're playing with mouse and keyboard via the emulator, but the on-screen button prompts are of actual keys and mouse buttons?
Is it a mod? Or does the emulator itself do it?
I want to know too. My setup, which is mouse and keyboard pretending to be a controller are barely usable.
it is the emulator itself

Ahh this game brings so many memories back, I remember playing this with my brother back in the day🙂 great video😀
man I remember playing through this co-op with a friend of mine. Such a good game.

Huh... I thought that was a hobby of yours =p
Really though, good video and I very much miss these shooters.
The companies unfortunately went under and the rights where floating around somewhere but one of the orginal companies employees got the rights and is supposibly working on a new Timesplitters, this is what I've read semi recently.
God I love TSFP, it has been my favorite game for about 13 years now. I am one of those people who had all the platinum trophies on the PS2. Thanks for making this review, looking forward to the remasters and maybe sequel from THQ Nordic.
Sgt Cortez is one of my favorite characters on video games, he is so charismatic and funny, on the other hand we have the playable section this game won't disappoint us, is very fast and it run at a solid 60 fps on every systems. and if we talk about its content, oh my god, it has many ways to play it and many characters to do it.
how did you setup mouse and keyboard controlls?
I'm wondering the same thing. The video looks straight up like PC gameplay but my setup is a mouse emulating a controller so it controls like shit.
gggmanlives pinned his comment for the k&m setup tutorial
I remember playing this with my dad when I was a wee lad🤘🏽🤘🏽🔥🔥
Why haven't they remastered this series?
Politically correct people would go mental.
Holy Ravioli Fuck SJWS
@Cyni That's not how politically correct people operate, though.
Congrats on 200k man! Hope you had a good 2018!!
The animation and lipsyncing are really fucking good in the cutscenes

I was LITERALLY trying to get this to work on Dolphin as you released this review - that's crazy!
"The Flare Gun is a one shot firing weapon that takes a dog's age to reload."
That was the only weapon I used in Multiplayer. People hated me for being able to hit every single time lmao.
Regardless, I really enjoyed this review.
Also, I think VA-11 Hall-A made a TS:FP Reference now that I think about it...
Who’s here after the new TimeSplitters announcement?
It's time to split!!!
The TimeSplitters games were a huge part of my childhood. Bless this series, however flawed it may be.
4:43 When exactly did political correctness swarm video games? I missed it. [I said, looking across at MK11 and DOA Extreme Volleyball 3]
I wish I could have played this game online. I really hope those guys who were trying to remaster it actually go through with it. It's called Timesplitters: rewind if you wanna look into it.
Got any spare brains, buddy?
I used to spend hours creating maps, scenarios, and mosh pits. I once made a map where players spawn at the top of a shaft and drop down into a single box room and beat the shit out of one another with baseball bats. Very fun.
Oh yeah.. Happy New Years, Sonny Jims!
