This video digs up some old wounds, reminding me I have been searching for an Attack on Titan game since before 2017...
Reiner Knizia needs to revisit this I.P and give us a Knizia strategy game with Attack on Titan.

Even the deckbuilding game was out of stock? Wow

@@revimfadli4666 Yeah, it is absurd, man. An AoT fan shouldn't have to be this desperate.
If anything, Attack on Titan should be treated with a strategy game before Lord of the Rings, and yet that is not how it turned out.
You can find big LOTR mods or games on Total War and Crusader Kings III, and LOTR even has its own big Real Time Strategy title, Battle for Middle Earth II.
Up until six months ago, it looks like Battle for Middle Earth II was getting a Reforged edition, a redesign to modern standards.

My favorite one versus all so far has to be Whitehall Mystery. It’s been a huge hit with everyone I’ve played with so far

Wow, I haven't seen one of your reviews in a while (since Set a Watch?) and this seemed like a big jump in quality. The slightly dim, but not dark lighting was great during your solo discussion. I already liked the after play discussion, but I think they went into a little more depth this time (Unless my memory is bad). Nice video and I look forward to your next one.

Thanks for the review. I'd be very happy to play this and see what it's like, especially being a AoT fan, but not sure if I'd want to buy and own it 🤔

I love this game but I have a hard time getting my family to play it. When we do I put candies on the villager tokens as incentive for the titan.

I love Attack on Titan, the game looks great and it seems like it might be easy to introduce to my game group. I think I’ll have to give this one a go :D

I really like this game, but I can see serious gamers who dislike rng / luck totally hating this game. Because yeah...there's a ton of luck in a game that involves so many die. It's literally possible for the titan to win in round 2 just from some bad rolls. I think playing the Titan can be the more boring role, by a lot. You're playing alone and only taking actions if/when die are given to you.
That being said, if your game group likes AoT and enjoys chucking die, this is an awesome game! Feels great to play as a scout and take down a Titan with some teamwork. I think this game NEEDS an expansion though, to add more meat and things to accomplish

Totally agree! I love playing the titan though! You get to sit back and egg the heroes on as they are rolling dice. It's a bit more passive, but not as stressful. Also definitely disappointed they havn't done an expansion of any kind. : (

I own this game and I have only ever played as the Titan. (Around 4-5 plays if I remember correctly. It has been a few years. Also mostly a 2-3 player count. May have played at 4 once.) I remember feeling like my plans were easily thwarted as the players seemed to get the symbols they needed to have "just in case" for defending. Also, maybe it was my poor play or because I could see all the titan cards, but I felt the card plays as the titan became predictable enough that it was easily defendable. I think house ruling and combining parts of 2 titan decks (to add 2-4 more cards) could help with expanding the options as the titan to solve what I was feeling. It is by no means a bad game; though I'd like to play as a player once. Maybe I'll bring it out sometime soon and try it again. (I LOVE the AoT deckbuilder and how brutal it is. There are ways to make it easier/harder by drawing 1 more or fewer cards and whatnot. It will be in my top 10 games forever.)
EDIT: Found my BGG rating. Basically, don't play this game at low player counts.
"At lower player counts it is hard for the titan to win. Especially when a large area of the spots are unvisited, making 2-3 of your 7 titan cards useless. I do like the game in moderation, but I'll probably make my own variant where I grab 4 more cards out of another titan's deck (1 global, 3 individual attacks) and play where used titan cards are locked down for 2 rounds. So it's okay, but much more fun to play a game like King of Tokyo. An expansion could definitely give the game a boost."

Totally agree Brandon. It's best at the 4-5 player count. Otherwise there aren't as many dice being rolled, not as many people to target, and generally a bit easier for the heroes at lower counts.

This is a tough one. I hate the mechanics, but I love the theme. I have the deck builder, and it’s not my favorite due to its challenge level. If you don’t get the right cards early on, you lose. I feel that this game might be faster and more simplified, so I might like it more. If only dice didn’t hate me so much.

    • @bcbroman
      @bcbroman 2 ปีที่แล้ว

This one definitely moves pretty fast. It can slow down if the heroes really think through their options, and what to roll/reroll, but it's rare that the game drags on too much.
