@@vampybitesss Actually, wasn't there a moment when it totally dominated the meta, hence they decided to nerf the deck banning a few tutoring cards? That's why it didn't see play more often, if I'm not mistaken.

This is actually really fun!! Some people find it boring to be the Titan as you normally don't do much for 5-15 minutes each turn.
Dice games are always random!! But has a great theme, especially if you're a AoT fan!
i don't mind randomness, obviously you're gonna have an element of randomness when dice are involved, i just feel like the game goes too long for what it is and that being the titan player kinda sucks in comparison. it DOES nail the theme, though
@@ProZD 100%, any game based in randomness has to have enough mitigation to prevent someone being screwed over for the entirety.

It sounds like your idea to make the Titan automatic could be pretty easily house-ruled.
Just randomise the action cards, and try to make them spend all their titan faces if possible, and maybe randomise choices like which player to hit (or make it affect players based on their position).
Then it becomes the co-op game you think it'd be better as.
that runs the risk of being too easy, because there are plenty of titan action cards that would literally do nothing unless the heroes are in specific positions

Is anyone really surprised that the fast, gorey, action packed show of Attack on Titan does not make for an entertaining, slow board game?
Doom made for an entertaining board game. Bioshock Infinite made for an entertaining board game. Power Rangers made for an entertaining board game. Dragonball Super made for an entertaining card game.
Just because the source material focuses on fast-paced action doesn't mean it can't be a good game. Hell, the AOT Deckbuilding Game is also generally liked.

two things. First: I feel like I've seen prozd review this before.
Second: if I understood correctly, you could just blindly draw the titan action cards and let a regular die decide what the titan will do with his action points. Then, the game would stop being "1 vs all", and turn into a "all vs the game."

I think you could *make* this into a co op experience even just with the stuff provided, just essentially have everyone play as heroes, draw titan cards at random and use number dice rolls to decide what the titan will do
This actually looks a bit better than I thought it would be. Still not likely to pick it up at full price though. It looks like this could be really fun for a diehard fan who knows at least two other diehard fans that they can play the game with. I'm a big fan of AoT (or at least of the parts that came before the change in tone), but no one else in my gaming group even watches it so I haven't seen much point in getting this. Especially when I'm quite happy with the deck building game.

You could probably house rule a co-op version of this game. I’d shuffle and draw titan cards at random, maybe 3 per turn to keep it challenging since they were designed for a human. Then just make him use the best (then most) titan powers he can with the dice you hand over. If he’s too easy use more cards or let him play more of them face down!
So after watching this a few times and thinking it over, would it be possible to make the titan automated in some way? Like maybe its actions are dealt randomly and it has to spend the most dice possible for its basic actions starting with the most expensive possible one. For example if eight titans are rolled, the basic titan would have to crush a player then heal itself (unless it has full health then it would eat a citizen).
The biggest issues I see for that are deciding whose dice get kept, returned, and removed by the titan as well as who gets attacked. I also don’t know if different titan types have more complex gameplay, but if playing the titan is as boring as you say I can’t imagine there’s much decision making going on for them either.
I think you could pretty easily turn this into a players vs the titan game, just shuffle and pull out two cards each turn and then make a rule for the dice. Aka if they have 2 they eat, 3 they destroy, 4 they eat twice, etc.
I really enjoyed this one even with the randomness because of how quick the game plays. The theme really helps with my enjoyment as well. There are just not enough anime IP games out there especially ones that aren't deckbuilders.

Feels like the Titan should receive a set amount of dice (2-3) per turn and the Titan dice from players are a bonus that enables more destructive moves
nah the titan gets plenty of dice. if players get too overzealous rolling it benefits titan more but there's a lot of incentive to keep rolling. I'm bad at the game but our titan player almost always won bc of how many dice they managed to get

I haven't played it, but from the explanation here it would seem pretty easy.
Just shuffle the titan's action cards, reveal the top and play that one and the one below it each turn. The titan always uses the ability that requires the most dice. If two abilities use the same amount, flip a coin.
