  • Brighter, Better and No ABL - LG 27GS95QE w-OLED GEN 3 First Impressions
LG has released a New 2024 Successor to the 2023 LG 27GR95QE. Introducing the New LG 27GS95QE w-OLED GEN 3 Gaming Monitor with so many New and improved features it truly makes it a real upgrade. We have here a New Gen 3 w-OLED panel that allows the typical brightness to reach a max of 30%+ in SDR & HDR vs the older panel.
Today I have an Unboxing and first impressions of this gaming monitor. I also show Daytime gaming ih a room with alot of ambient light.. even bouncing off screen to show real world usage and worst case scenario. A vs portion with the 27GR95QE vs PG27AQDM vs 27GS95QE showing the non exisitant ABL drop on the New GS model. ABL can be subject to different scenes and settings. I can only report on my gaming and so far I hsve seen None.
The 27GS95QE has a special option that will make this a very good option for anyone who loves brightness. It now includes a Peak Brightness option: Off, Low or High in both SDR & HDR modes. This option truly makes this a great gaming monitor and enables it to compete against other QD OLED 27" models.
    Settings for the video:

    70 Contrast

This LG is using an updated w-OLED Panel with a 30% brightness increase. Example: asus is saying the new ultrawides use gen 3 panel but no new pixel layout. So this is a new and improved panel.

So two things. 1- why is the 95qe more expensive on Lg’s site I’ve also noticed it keeps going up on Amazon.
      2. For someone who plays mainly cod on a series x (maybe a pc in the future) would you recommend this the Aw 3225Qf (I thought it would be cool to use a curve) or maybe something else?

I can vs these 2 monitors next week with cod. Ill be able to better show some points good and bad on both. Tho HDR looks nicer on the 27" GS. The LG site or amazon idk... I got mine at 859 on Amazon. But LG had theres at 900 but came withj some stuff free.

Hi there, I have one quick question about this monitor if that's ok - i often heard that last years model supported 4k downscaling where if, for example, you set the ps5 or other device to output 4k then the monitor could accept the 4k input and downsample it to a sharper 1440p than it you were to directly output 1440p from the ps5 or other device. I just want to confirm if this years model still has this feature, or if it has possibly been removed? Thanks for the great review!

    • @thepadster123
      @thepadster123 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

It does have this feature, but I think most would recommend you to keep it on 1440p in your ps5 settings. You want the ps5 doing all the scaling stuff rather than your monitor so no input lag and the ps5 will likely do it better.
Also, even though your setting the ps5 to 1440p, with most games the ps5 will actually still be taking a 4k signal and downscaling it so yeah you'll still get your nice supersampled 4k that will look better than native 1440.

No dead pixel or defective subpixel. Everything here is better compared to AOC and the readability of the text suits me better with LG. Brightness etc is great. Lots of channels in the audiophile/IEM world make IEM tier lists and it would be cool to see a spreadsheet or something of your thoughts on the various monitors you own and have reviewed. You're the only creator covering monitors on this level. Other channels go heavy on the specs, but yours is better from the perspective of the subjective and side-by-side comparisons. Also, you're not buying into the discussion of glossy vs matte, which is pretty refreshing. I'm looking at the existing monitor market and pretty confused on what to get. I'm using a 60Hz TN panel from 2012 😀. What I'm really torn on is whether or not to pull the trigger on a monitor like this or to get the new gen monitors that are always sold out. There is no washed out image at all. Sure QD OLED is superior but this looks good at full brightness. More videos incoming. I had this on warm color tone and gamma mode 2. Gamer 2 preset. Das on As that is low input lag mode. All fast while looking great.

Only issue is it's the same price as the Alienware 360hz. Alienware is actually $200 off in Canada on Dells website. Making it $200 cheaper than this. AW doesn't have a crap coating either.

Even though this monitor is an improvement over last year with its brightness, the price of $900 is still too high. Instead you can get the Alienware aw2725df and get 360hz refresh rate plus a semi-glossy screen. Other than slightly deeper black levels on the WOLED, I just can’t see why anyone would choose this over the Alienware.

    • @ViktorsReality

The sdr brightness is I believe better here. Plus the remote. I have heard the sdr brightness is not good on the Dell 27". I may get a 27" qd oled but prob msi. This LG needs to be priced at 699-799 for sure.

On my Alienware AW3225QF, I play with the windows wide open, sunlight shining through... I have zero issues with reflections. This monitor would look so much better, and cleaner if it was glossy instead of matte. I also have last year's LG 27 oled and that matty grain just ruins the full clarity of the image for me.

It all depends on lighting. I have a 32GQ950 in front of my AW3225QF (acxross from each other) and its impossible to use as it warps the reflection. So I need to position it better.
