- Best 27" OLED HDR Gaming Monitor - LG 27GS95QE W-OLED HDR True Black 400 vs. Gamer 2 HDR
Today, I showcase the HDR and SDR performance of the LG 27GS95QE 2024 W-OLED gaming monitor. An Ultragear monitor refresh of the 27GR95QE of 2023.
In HDR mode in all games show no signs of ABL or OLED dimming. Explosions, Ship Peak Highlights and Car LED lighting... everything looks great with no hint of dimming.
Peak Brightness option on high on both modes do not show any OLED dimming or ABL. In SDR mode, that option really does enhance the image and make it brighter vs. all other w-OLED gaming monitors that are currently available. Even in the daytime with daylight coming in... the 27GS95QE has enough brightness to overpower any ambient lighting..

Victor my man!!! Thanks for this video, I have my GS coming tomorrow.
Awesome man.. :)
You won’t regret it ! I found a way in the NVIDIA control panel to squeeze out a few more NITS! Panel is different than the last that’s for sure !
@@SlapGodKenTV nice!! Thanks brother! Can’t wait🤙🏼
Don't regret this monitor one bit. Love lg's design and performance on its ultragear monitors.
I started saving for the GS in the end of the year, hopefully there will be a discount when the new version comes.
Dude thanks to you I got this today and boy is it the best I’ve tested yet! Way brighter than I thought it would be . Literally have to turn down brightness in some scenes! Unbelievable!
Nice! Congrats man..
@@ViktorsReality which 4k 144hz monitor would you reccommend :O? best regards
I've always wanted to build a PC so I've ordered this as a start, it'll be great to use with my console as I build the PC. Thank you for your videos on helping me with the decision on purchasing this monitor.
Congrats on your new PC setup!🎉 Im sure you will be happy in the meantime with consoles. :)
That outro music is 🔥
Amazing video I’ve been looking forward to this video all week. this video has finally helped me make my decision to finally pull the trigger and get this - what nits did u use to calibrate the hdr on PS5 for all those games in the videos
16 clicks is 1,000nits on ps5 so try 16 - 17. I believe hdvtest said we should add 1 or 2 more clicks for a higher peak limit. I had 17 here. Also remember in game display controls if needed add a nice picture/impact
cant wait for the 32gs95qe, with new pixel layout and integrated speakers :o
Those screen speakers looks so cool. I need to hear that lol..
Hi @ViktorsReality, great review! Y have a question. Yesterday I bought the previous version on sale in my country (Spain) for 700€, since LG don't sell the new update and I doubt it will come out at the same price that the old one. There are other external sellers who sell it, but very expensive ( + 1000 €) ... Do you think I made a good purchase or should I wait for the new version to be released? Cheers!
Hi there, I have one quick question about this monitor if that's ok - i often heard that last years model supported 4k downscaling where if, for example, you set the ps5 or other device to output 4k then the monitor could accept the 4k input and downsample it to a sharper 1440p than it you were to directly output 1440p from the ps5 or other device. I just want to confirm if this years model still has this feature, or if it has possibly removed it? Thanks for the great video!
Nice vids dude ! Can’t wait to see your test with the msi qd-oled !! 😊
Mine just arrived. Csnt wait to open it and check it out. Also new LG c4 42" just arrived..
@@ViktorsRealityMake sure and update the MSI’s firmware, lots of bug fixes.
And how is the text clarity on this new version of LG ? :)
@@Icares974 Exact same as last years.
Too bad…thank you guys :)
Viktor question the 32gs95ue is up for pre order and it is w oled. It’s not glossy at all? And how would text clarity be? I just don’t want to miss out on a monitor because the asus pg32ucdm sells out in one second when I’m sleeping every time
The new 32 has the new pixel layout. So text is improved. But its still matte. That asus still cant be bought. I feel you on missing out on it...
i just bought this monitor what are the best settings that you use? I cant find anything that shows best settings for this monitor. Only the GR version ive seen, as well how did you turn on HDR?
I remember you did a side-by-side miniLED vs OLED video which was an excellent way to compare differences between monitors. I think it would be awesome to side-by-side the two different panel coatings in game to see the clarity difference. Would also be a great way to illustrate the differences between QD-OLED and WOLED. Or do you think it will be too negligible to pick up on camera?
I have a vs video again on fri. Its even more epic! 🤣 i can show clarity and colors better as I have calibrated them better. The aw3225 vs neo g8.
@@ViktorsReality Awesome, looking forward to it!
I love how balanced and fair you are in your videos, especially with the matte vs glossy thing. We forget that the people having this debate only count for a small minority of overall PC users, whether that's gamers or otherwise and it can be really easy to get sucked into the matte hate bandwagon. Thanks for presenting some genuinely balanced and interested ideas on this monitor!
Thank you. Question: Do you think the brightness and lighting are sufficient for games? Viktors Reality
The brightness here can handle and overpower room lighting. No issues I think.
Can you play PUBG in this GS and advise us if it is pixelated..or it is as good as 4k as well?
Been waiting for this in depth video from you man, even though I already bought and received it lmao. Still love seeing others insights and reviews. Honestly, I tried HDR and it’s just too dark, even the colors don’t look as vibrant as SDR. I’m coming from the Sony A90k OLED so my eyes are used to that. What are your preferred SDR and HDR picture settings for this monitor??
Oh a Sony 90K... yea your already spoiled visually. 😂 Onjust keep on on gamer 2 as it pops more. But right now I justvhave it on sdr gamer1, 100 brightness, contrast 70, peak high. Black stabalizer on 55. Sharpness 40. I have been playing xbox this way over a week.
@@ViktorsReality thanks for the response brother, yeah I know it won’t ever compare to that tv but I got this because I’m getting into pc gaming and wanted to hook my laptop up to it!
Thanks for the video. is there an estimated date when it will be available in Europe?
Not yet. But it should be up soon. If I see anything I'll post in the community. Usually Amazon or LG Europe should have them depending on the region.
Hello. Did you do any ABL/Dimming tests at 240hz refresh rate ?
Does it still retain same brightness performance at 240hz in hdr & sdr ?
So far no abl dimming in sdr or hdr. Not that I have seen where its so obvious. All oleds have some kind of dimming but nowhere near the GR version. I dont think anyone would be dissapointed with the performance her.
Nice video bro
MSI QD OLED 27" just arrived!!
@@ViktorsReality esperando ese video master , yo compré el MSI MAG341CQP quiero un Ultraview me debe llegar finales de marzo , pero también estoy pensando comprar un 360hz para jugar a shooters , así que esperaré tu video ….
@@ViktorsReality As owner LG 27GR95 and ASUS PG27AQDM, I"m so excited to video about comparing LG 27GS95 with MSI 271QRX.
Thank you.
I have a question. In another video, you said that the LG 27GR95QE-B has low latency in gamer 2 . My question is that apply to LG 27GS95QE-B too?
Thank you
Yes. On gamer 2 on the (GS) DAS mode (low latency mode) is enabled.
@@ViktorsReality Thank You!
Last question, sorry..😅
Does enabling HDR in windows effect latency in OLED Monitor?
@s9be14 I have not noticed any. Usually vrr does introduce some but not enough to really notice. Rtings tests show that hdr+vrr may show some small latency but again I do not feel any nor experience a difference even when I vs the monitors and see side by side.
I’m looking to get my first monitor and I’m really leaning towards this one 😬
Buy at under $799. Thats the lowest I have seen it from lg and amazon. Im sure you will be happy. :) that remote sure does come in handy...
Hi! would you say this one is better than the pg27aqdm?
I woukd say so but only by a small amount. As in my street fighter video the aqdm still showed abl while here and any qd oled 27" did not. The Asus is still best vs all other 2023 oleds. This new GS tho is the king with that. You cant lose if you get the aqdm. I played the division in hdr and it was great no abl and hdr was really good..
Hey bro, i really love your reviews keep it up! So this monitor and the samsung g8 oled are available for the same price where i am, and i’m really torn between the 2, based on ur experience what do u reccomend, i will mostly use it for gaming, please help me out here😩
In 16:9 for ps5/xbox... I would probably play more on the OLED G8. It's still a nicer brighter 16:9 screen and the G8 gives you ultrawide if you need that for pc. I got alot of videos coming out soon so I can vs. them soon. Also the G8 has smart features which is nice if you need that.
@@ViktorsReality oh sorry i forgot to mention i play on pc😅, but i’ve never tried ultrawide gaming so that’s why im leaning towards the g8 since it will give me a new experience, thanks for ur help tho ur the goat of monitor reviews❤️
Hey Viktor does you 27GS95QE also has a audible fan noise in a quiet environment? Mine clearly has! I am sitting about 80cm away from the monitor and if the room is quiet I can hear the fan clearly, even my PC is more silent.... such a bummer
Ill test mine out. I have not heard any I sit about 3ft away. Ill reply back once I set it back up
@@ViktorsReality thank you man.
Whats ur personal settings? Idk wether to use peak high or low and gamer 1/2
If you check the rtings review you will see that peak brightness should be get to low in HDR. EOTF is only accurate with the low setting.
Awesome video, so this or the Asus PG27AQDM, I have the AW3423DWF but I play warzone a lot and I am tempted by buying a 240HZ oled since prices are lower now. The LG 27GS95QE is 910 Euro where I am and the Asus PG27AQDM is 850 Euro. Tried to buy the msi qd oled 27 inch 360hz with a 15% discount coupon making it a 850 Euro, but unfortunately its out of stock at MSI official store in EU. Thank you for your advice in advance.
All 3 are great. Thing is even in my video with all 3 monitors on treet fighter alpha the GR, AQDM and GS. The only one not showing OLED dimming was the GS. The Asus had very little. So from that real world game testing idk.. its up to you. You may not see that on the Asus but If i can show it its happens sometimes. Dont get the GR tho
@@ViktorsReality thank you for the fast reply, I have seen all your videos including the comparison in street fighter that was published a day or two ago, and I am aware of the lg GR lower brightness thats why I went for aw34dwf since it was cheaper when i bought it than the any 240hz woled and i dont mind ultrawide as it is very immersive. Msi qd oled is my preference but only if msi store restock it as it is 850 euro using my bday coupon,on other websites in Austria where i live its 1100 euro, so only good price i think is either AOC WOLED model 700euro, asus 850 euro and the lg GS found at 910 euro range. Does the Lg GS has higher hdr brightness than asus?
Get the AW2725DF.
@@andrewmorris3479 still not available here unfortunately
my dream 27 inch 4k OLED no 32 inch I love 27 inch with crispy 4k!!!
I got the 45-inch lg ultra gear version for 1000 euros only to find out that they will release soon the new 45-inch version without ABL. ABL on the 45-inch is very noticeable.
There are 3 new versions coming out. 2 refreshs just like this one. The "B" has the speakers. And a new 5120x2160 version in late fall with the new pixel arrangment.
Does this monitor not have an HDR Peak 1000 mode like some other similar monitors offer?
It says up to 1,000nits (on the LG website) but it does not have vesa HDR 1000 certification. I am enjoying the HDR experience tho. Its very good vs the GR of last yrs
Yo Vik.😊
Glossy bandwagon lol I like the matte most ppl think glossy is amazing which it is but this new 4K oled is nice regardless the coat imo I think I like the matte look better over glossy even tho glossy is top tier like you said it’s preference!
I’ve found last year’s model for $600 and wondering if I should go with that or wait for QD-OLED prices to fall. I don’t want anything bigger than 27” 1440p.
QD OLED prices will fall like now the AW2725DF is at $809 with a coupon/glitch (see my community post) they will drop in the summer or by sept. But that 600 price is nice tho I feel the GR needs more brightness. Thats just me.. if you are happy.. thats all that matters
According to TFT Central there is a glossy version of this monitor coming in Q2.
Not the 480Hz version, but this GS, just with glossy panel .. No new rgb layout or anything like that.
That is probably the Dough Glossy Spectrum Black. Which still has not been released and in production. LG would have shown it at CES 2024 which they did not. But never say never right...
Is matte coating degrades the picture quality?
It looks good. But when you compare to a glossy screen it's pretty clear the QD OLED Glossy is clearer. But matte helps with room light so it's give and take..
In a very dim (or dark) room, is there any real difference?
Specifically in relation to blacks…..?
Seems it still lock 120hz when game is on fullscreen mode,is it bug?
Armored Core 6 max frame rate is locked to 120Hz
If monitor is glossy you can still use external matt coating 👍
it has sense this GS if i have the GR ?
Only if you think the GR brightness is too low. If not the next upgrade would be the 27" 480hz version for the New pixel arrangement in June/July
I wish they'd of at least buffed this up to 280hz. It's a hard sell against similar priced or cheaper 360hz qd oleds.
Isnt it better to get 360 HZ QD OLED since the price is similar?
Im testing the 27" MSI qd oled early next week. I hope the msi is as bright if not brighter..
Hi..the usb port doesn’t work! Why?
I honestly don’t think I could ever purchase an OLED with a Matte coating again, no matter how bright the whites are
In my next neo g8 vs aw3225qf video. The glossy clarity is easily seen. So I guess once you go glossy you cant go back. 🤣 it is clearer tho for sure.
@@ViktorsReality you doing great 👍. I always enjoy watching your comparisons. The 32 inch AW got delivered today while I was at work so fingers crossed 🤞 NO SCRATCHES
@@Kapono5150I’m debating on that AW or this Lg. I just can’t decide. People seem to be having so many issues with the 32 and Lg is always top notch with build quality
@@AFGixxeR88 Dell has already sent out a firmware update and says another is on the way. At least they are tryin to fix the issues and I always hear about how great customer support is.
@@Kapono5150 That’s true, but I’ve heard a lot of people are receiving there’s with scratches. I like the 32” curved style, but I think lg makes a superior build quality. I even looked at the older 34gn850 which is a curved 34” but I mainly play on console
Best setting on sdr?
I currently use gamer2 with peak on low. Contrast 70. Black stabalizer at 50. Warm or Warm1 if possible
@@ViktorsReality I'm assuming max brightness? And how about HDR?
the displayguy says the 34'' asus new mla w-oled matte finish is really bad so I hope this is a newer screen compared to that one
Asus uses a micro texture coating on its matte displays. But the vasoline look is still here on this GS just like the GR. I dont think its that bad even vs glossy. I love mine. . But Glossy is clearer for sure.
@@ViktorsReality got my odyssey 57'' va up for sale gotta stick with oled
What monitor like this one has GLOSSY screen???
It would be any QD OLED monitor just releasing. From Alienware, MSI, Samsung and Aorus.
@@ViktorsReality thank you
Had LG made this version with a lighter matte coating and given it a toggle for smooth gradation, even at the cost of 3-4 ms of latency, this would have been a banger. Unfortunately, even with the increased brightness, this monitor is, in essence, as bad as the GR model - sparkly and full of color banding.
Glossy version of this is coming in Q2 (not the 480Hz version) according to TFT Central.
@84
From LG? They stated it's not confirmed yet - just possible.
You can improve gradation by setting Windows HDR Calibration tool to 1000 nits. This activates the monitors' 1000 nit PQ curve, which offers better gradation without losing any peak brightness or detail in bright sky scenes with clouds. This is very noticeable if you set it higher than 1000 nit even if only by a little bit.
Is this monitor good for day to day usage on Windows? Like productivity?
I have had no issues. LG has a 2yr burn in warranty protection. This is an all arounder I would say. The remote does come in handy.
@@ViktorsReality Thank you!
how bright is it in hdr?
Its bright. I have seen over 1,000nits finally in a 1% peak highlight. Windows has an issue showing all w oleds at 600ish. Even the new Asus 34 ultrawides show the same.
@@ViktorsReality how is the Fan Noise?
GS or MSI 271QRX?
My MSI 271QRX just arrived today. Ill have a vs up next week.
AW2725DF
@@ViktorsRealityIt would be great to see it compared to this monitor .. And in daylight as well 🙏
Too many people are not aware of how sensetive the QD-OLED is to light 😅
@@ViktorsReality Can't wait for your review mate :)
@@andrewmorris3479 I don't know why, but it's still not available in Poland.
hello dear friend! this monitor will be able to work for 5 years or OLED monitors are designed for 3 years... of course I’m worried about burnout LG 27GS95QE
5yrs of everyday use I dont think so. As even these new OLED's may show some retention after 1-2yrs in the worst case. 3yrs warranty is because the tech is durabke and companies dont believe everyday use. New OLED technologies such as pholed etc will increase the durability even further. Buy on a sale in case you need oled now and if you need to replace it wont feel too bad. We need to use them and not feel bad something may happen. But say if you need something for work the LG 32GQ950 is by far the best work and play monitor not burn in.
@@ViktorsReality Thank you very much for the answer! I only need to watch movies and youtube for games
ABL?
None seen here in HDR. I have tried all my games and so far none. The GR 2023 version was very bad at that. This New GS does not show any.
thanks
To my eyes gamer 1 looks to have even brighter peaks but with less but more accurate color, especially for movies. Peaks aren't much brighter though.
Gamer 1 still has less banding than gamer 2 though. Gamer 1 is overall brighter. Gamer 2 has more contrast in more situations but highly oversaturated colos like the GR version has.
Gamer 1 is capped at 400ish nits maybe a small bit more. Vesa display hdr True black 400.
To my eyes, which I meticulously compared a lot of scenes & it was a toss-up which looked brighter in the highlights. I focused exclusively on the peaks themselves, ignoring any differences in nearby the highlights & focusing thightly on the center of highlight.
More scenes to my eyes looked brighter in the core of the highlight in Gamer 1.
In either case highlights were substantially brighter than my HDR 600 certified VA LCD. monitor.
