Hi Rachel! Thanks for comparing the two loafs. Nice job! There is a third option, containing no nuts, soy or seitan: It’s a Lentil Loaf. I serve mine with gravy, mashed potatoes, roasted veg and cranberry or lingonberry sauce. It contains lentils, onion, celery, carrot and all the typical fall herbs, like sage, rosemary and thyme. There’s a great recipe by Nini Girl on TH-cam, Rachel, called Thanksgiving Lentil-Mushroom Loaf. Maybe you’ll like it, too. It’s more like a meatloaf texture, and it tastes great with mushroom gravy.
Hi thanks for suggesting nini girl. I just looked at her recipe and it looked fabulous, so she has another subscriber thanks to you 😊 have a great Xmas 💖💚🌱🌍
You're recipe sounds better. She didn't taste her food either. I love Nini girls recipes. There's also the gentle chef who makes a Succulent Turkey recipe on TH-cam with a gravy recipe. 😊✌🎄
My Christmas Day menu is as follows: Lunch : homemade tomato soup, avocado, banana, whole meal toast and humous. Dinner: chick pea and chestnut pasta in a hot lentil sauce, with potato and spinach, vegan chocolate cookie. Hot water throughout
I made the nut roast for Christmas. The flavors were amazing. I did leave the cranberries out since I don’t always care for them. I would recommend adding a binder such as a flax egg. It crumbled as I served it. Went great with vegan mashed potatoes and gravy! Will definitely make again!
Hi Rachel. I just wanted to thank you. I decided to go vegan like 2 months ago and your videos and your recipes really inspire me and motivate stay vegan and going on too. I learned to cook such amazing things these last 2 months, really, I never thought eating vegan could be soooo delicious. I am telling this to my friends all the time when they ask what I do eat now. I am also gluten intolerant and not really a soy fan and you always propose a lot of recipes ideal for gluten intolerant people. Thank you so so so much for helping me stay vegan. I am already excited for the new receipes I will discover and hope your channel will last forever. I wish you wonderful holidays full of flavours. Big hug. :)
rachel you're my GIRL! this christmas will be my first winter one so i'm used to have salads and lots of summery food for christmas lunch but this has made me so excited to cook a yummy roast! thanks so much for the recipes. and i just wanna say i love the effort that you put in to include everyones different ways of living and dietary requirements. e.g. not using oil, allergic to nuts, coeliac, not using soy, and even 'merry christmas if you celebrate christmas.' you are so lovely and i'm sure a heap of people appreciate it. hope you have a wonderful holiday! Xx
I just found your channel a couple of days ago and I love it! You seem to be such a funny cool person and your recipes are exactly what I was always looking for. I can't only do the avocado toast stuff. And please show us how to make the potatoes! Mine never brown so nicely!
I discovered an amazing chickpea loaf recipe that made thanksgiving and Christmas so much easier for me this year! Three non- vegans tried it and all liked the taste, although two of them said they didn't care for the texture.
You are such a beautiful girl Rachel. I feel the same about this Christmas. I'm thinking I'll just have the veg and potatoes with loads of gravy. WHO KNOWS???? X
Yees thank youu now I know what I'm making for my first vegan Christmas feast ! Definitely going for the nut roast, never tried seitan and it looks amazing but I just don't love vegan food that tries too hard to look like meat. More often than not the taste doesn't live up to the expectation. Plus it's basically pure gluten, can't be great for the stomach. Vegetables is where it's at !
Got to be one of the most beautiful chefs I have ever seen.......Must say I am going to try your recipes to see if I can manage without meat in my diet for a day at least....
This was great; I have family coming to me for Christmas and I was thinking of making a roasted cauliflower but they may like the seitan I have to test it out on a friend first to see if they like it before I make it for my family.
Hi again I'm not good with gluten, so I prefer the nut roast 😋😃👍🏼 It looks delicious 😋🤗👍🏼 Thanks again!!!. You could maybe try Black beans, beetroot, and red kidney beans together, instead of these two options, btw. I would love if you tried making a video on that option some day!😃👍🏼 I loved the gravy recipe, as well, I will try that!😍👍🏼!. Thanks again, and Merry Christmas 🎁🎄❤️
I’m currently making the Seitan loaf and I cannot wait to taste the finished product. Smells so good cooking in my kitchen! Thanks for sharing this recipe.
Love love love your channel. I am not vegan and not even fully vegetarian (yet), but watching you cook inspires me! Great personality sells your fantastic recipes. I also just got your book and will be surely cooking up a storm 😜. Merry Christmas Rachel!
I am so glad I watched this video. I have wanted to make seitan but didn't like the idea of wrapping it in baking paper and foil as some recipes call for. I love the idea of basting it over time. It looks fantastic!
My transition to be vegan has been a wonderful Journey because of you and your flavorful recipes I will continue to watch you and continue to get recipes so that I'll have something to eat I absolutely love your recipes and although I'm not 100% vegan I only eat 10 maybe 5% animal products my goal is this year to be at 0
Potatoes (sweet, Yukon, russet, red bliss, baked, roasted, mashed, fried, smothered, au gratin etc 🥰❗️...I can eat potatoes with dirt😋🥰☺️ 🤸🏿♂️❗️ ...Your “nut roast” is my dressing recipe less apples and cornbread. ...Yummy😋🤣❗️meanwhile the seitan roast looks really good. But I probably would prepare it. I usually make either veg meatless ball/meatloaf/sausage with my seitan. For Christmas though, I make a pasta dish (vegetable lasagna, stuffed shells or penne in vodka sauce), sides, salad home made garlic bread, sweet potato cheesecake, short bread cookies and a cake (family choice). My goodness, I hungry (again)🤣❗️
Both look so Yum! Why did you say celery is in the same family as Alliums like leeks and onions though? I think celery is in the carrot fam. Do you just mean how well they go together? A bit like yummy Italian soffritto? Thanks. Love your recipes!
Happy Holidays to you also. Love your videos! LOL I knew it. I am new to Vegan eating but I am going to try the Seitan because I have a husband that has been use to meat and this will be his first Christmas not eating meat.
me: "yeah she's definitely picking the nut roast. I know her... or maybe she's trying to surprise us?! ...nope. look at all those leeks she put in there. yeah, she's going for the nut roast."
Both look amazing! We're having sosmix and cranberry pie for Christmas day. Definitely going to try that seitan In the new year though as we still buy the dry stuff
Thank you for your recipes both look delicious. I am going to make the Nut Roast for my family Christmas Dinner. I have a question, re chestnuts, I live in a country town in Melbourne Australia and they are no where to be found, what can I use to substitute them????
Hi there I think it will be a nut roast😋😃👍🏼 Thank you for a fantastic video😘👍🏼 I'm new to your Channel, and LOVE all you do❤️😃👍🏼 Christmas greetings from 🇩🇰
I highly recommend the Gardein turkeyless stuffed roast! :P yummy! It comes as a whole roast or in packs of 2 mini stuffed turkeyless portions. It's breaded and comes with a delicious gravy :)
I think I’d do both, next year I’m going to having my first full vegan Christmas (I’m transitioning from flexitarian) and I’ll be cooking for family so I’ll make both

Why? She promotes malnutrition.
I did the nut roast for Christmas dinner. It was fantastic. My cousin said it was the best Christmas dinner he had ever had. Thanks Rachel.

I feel the same about this Christmas. I'm thinking I'll just have the veg and potatoes with loads of gravy. WHO KNOWS???? X

Wow! That seitan loaf is amazing!🤩
The roast seitan will actually have a better texture if you make it 2 to 3 days in advance!
What is the best way to reheat it on the day?
I’m currently making the Seitan loaf and I cannot wait to taste the finished product. Smells so good cooking in my kitchen! Thanks for sharing this recipe.

Looks amazing!!! I think I may go for the nut roast.
What lipstick are you wearing please? I really love the colour.

Something to consider, organic nuts are expensive here in the US. Gluten flour goes soooooo far. But these both look exceptional..🤤
Thank you for your recipes both look delicious. I am going to make the Nut Roast for my family Christmas Dinner. I have a question, re chestnuts, I live in a country town in Melbourne Australia and they are no where to be found, what can I use to substitute them????
I make a lentil, walnut, and mushroom loaf. It's WAY too good and I eat it all in one sitting
keto cycler lentils, walnuts and mushrooms? Fake?😂
Girl, those potatoes... They look perfect!

Hi there
I think it will be a nut roast😋😃👍🏼
Thank you for a fantastic video😘👍🏼
I'm new to your Channel, and LOVE all you do❤️😃👍🏼
Christmas greetings from 🇩🇰
I highly recommend the Gardein turkeyless stuffed roast! :P yummy! It comes as a whole roast or in packs of 2 mini stuffed turkeyless portions. It's breaded and comes with a delicious gravy :)
I think I’d do both, next year I’m going to having my first full vegan Christmas (I’m transitioning from flexitarian) and I’ll be cooking for family so I’ll make both
I like the idea of the nut roast and I would soak the nuts for maybe a softer texture. I actually was hoping that’s what the loaf was in the intro
I love your recipes but can you suggest a substitute for miso paste which is extremely high in sodium some brands are over 10,000 mg per serving.
