    [[[ ABOUT THIS VIDEO ]]]:
    OPPO and OnePlus are related and they have shared resources ever since OnePlus was born. The first OnePlus phone was just a version of the OPPO Find 7, so it's no surprise that the newer OnePlus phones would share components with the OPPO Find series as well. But a lot has happened since the OnePlus launch and the sharing is becoming a lot more confusing. The Story Behind series, episode 64

      Yeah, it is really sad. OnePlus released a brand new, most expensive phone ever last year called the OnePlus 7 Pro at $670. The next year, the budget OnePlus phone was more expensive than the previous years flagship. OnePlus is pricing previous customers out of the market. Here is something amazing... Apple released a device that is cheaper than any phone Oneplus has released in 4 years. Wow.

      @@drakidou9232 You see, my priorities just happen to match the SE. I don't really care that much about bezel-less phones, and phones in general are getting huge. I already think my OP6 (6,28") is a little too big, and that was 2 years ago. The iPhone SE also has less ram, but guess what, iOS is really well optimized that Apple even released the iPod Touch 7th Gen with 1GB of RAM (which I personally think is a bad move), but it's quite smooth. The phone also has TouchID outside of the display, which is faster and still works if your phone cracks. It has an IP rating, which is an upgrade from my current OP6 which is not certified (broke one OP6 in the water (screen dead, but still responsive)). And it's less likely I will drop it as it's a smaller phone.

Almost 30 years later and people who say "Apple betrayed enthusiasts and only cater to sheep" don't understand that that business model cannot last forever, they have to start pursuing more profitable markets eventually which will lead to increased development and advertising costs and then expensive products in the end.

    • @telezon7206
      @telezon7206 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@3SICKsty/videos The reason I was thinking of OnePlus while reading was because of how enticed I was by OnePlus's earlier phone designs. They appealed to me due to how they sought to do things differently: crowd-sourced design decisions, a focus on consumer interests without bloated smartphone pricing, avoiding the"innovation" that many phone sellers use to make their product seem like it stands out while all it actually does is make them like every other flagship on the market. The OnePlus 6t and 7 (non pro) were great examples of how OnePlus excelled in doing this. I won't recount everything in the above video, but it perfectly sums up how OnePlus lost sight of this. There's really no way they can compete with Apple and Samsung in the high-end market, in my opinion. Even as they attempt to create mass appeal for their phones, they lose the thing that made them different. In short, as Simon Sineck would put it, "They lost their Why." I would recommend the book. Though it's quite abstract and a solid criticism of Sineck is that he's been more of an 'inspirer' than a leader throughout his career. I believe any such leadership books should be taken with a grain of salt and the acknowledgement that they simplify many complex topics. But the advice in the book is sound for those who are seeking authenticity in their career and business decisions.

I own an Oppo Reno, which is a fantastic phone in terms of hardware, but software wise is still far from Oneplus, especially in terms of speed on releasing firmwares (I'm stll waiting for Android 10). But I see that they're slowly trying to get closer to Oneplus, and Oneplus to the other main industries like Samsung. And Oneplus isn't only holding the best hardware phones, but also the best Android software. And I do agree that there is a "circle of life" in which Oneplus will probably have that kind of mainstream phase just like with Samsung, and in that point we will probably see a new industry similar to the Oneplus of the past.
