finally saw the faces behind the wonderful recipes. I myself am a huge fan of cooking especially baking. It's great to see you guys have the same passion ❤
You are the first person to explain properly that it should not be refrigerated and should be kept in room temperature… Thank you so much bcz nobody explain this
I’ve been making Christmas cake for a couple of years now and the most interesting part about it is that each recipe is different. There’s no one way on how to make it. Each family has a slightly different preference. I’ve been trying to match my Nan’s version and I’m getting so close.
Have tried this recipe of yours, and I give it a thumbs up. Great video done step by step and easy to follow. Congratulations to you both for your excellent presentation. Cheers 🍷
Found out about your channel through TH-cam video preferences.....Glad to get introduced to an exotic and equally easy Indian cuisine. I love your video presentation skills like focusing only on the food but not on the expensive kitchen accessories and on the make up or the dressing sense of the presenter and also it is very easy to follow the receipt with your on-screen subtitles with all the info rather than taking the pain of pausing and looking for the description for the recipe details. Being a hardcore non veg hyderbadi food lover, I never used to like other cuisines. But, because of your channel, i will definitely try your cuisines with out any doubt.....Keep up the good work guys and looking forward for more awesome videos from you. Stay blessed and always rock........ With love from Hyderabad
My husband made this for the first time following your recipe...turned out pretty good. One suggestion though, please mention the temperature in Fahrenheit too.
I have a jar in a secret, dark corner of my kitchen in which I soak dry fruit in all year round. Every time we have a party, I pour in the left over alcohol into the jar. So it is a mix of dry fruit and a spectrum of alcohols (whiskey, rum, brandy, vodka, gin, etc). My question is this: aren't the dry fruit supposed to be covered with alcohol? As in the alcohol should be above the fruit level?
Hahaha. This is the most heartening thing I've read all week! Love the idea of soaking fruits all year 'round. Never too late to start, eh? We don't as much submerge the fruits in rum as generously coat them. But for your cake, how do you deal with the problem of excess liquid from the spirits? Or do you just pick out the fruits and leave the alcohol in the jar for the next batch?
:D I pick out the dry fruit and then mix it into the cake batter. So the alcohol in the jar is quite old, and very, very potent. Here's letting you in a a secret ingredient: the next time you bake a cake or a pudding, take a table spoon out of the jar (a mix of the dry fruit and alcohol), throw it into the blender, and then add it to the batter and bake. It add so much character to the bake. Also, consider throwing in some whole spices between the dry fruit (cinnamon and cloves). Keep up the great work! May of us are grateful for the absolute food porn Fridays. Also, do share a link to the song used in the Bengali recipes. Whenever I cook, I hum it to myself and imagine someone is filming my hands. K. TMI. Kthanxbai.
That's such a brilliant tip! Thank you. Now we MUST start a jar asap. The details of the music and the link to where you can find it are given in the description box. It was lovely talking to you, Kevin. :-)
Oh, sorry I thought you meant the music to this video. This is not our regular music. The ones we use in our other recipes have been composed by a Calcutta-based band called Bemanan. Check them out on TH-cam: th-cam.com/users/bemananmusic. Our tracks can be found here: kit.com/bongeats/music-album-quorma-kaliya-polao
Eagerly waiting for the part 2 of this bake along! Already the soaked fruits look scrumptious! I could nick the whole jar! Old Monk whiff in the air...

Can I soak Orange juice instead of alcohol? I liked the second part a lot. I want to make it anyway.
Yeah.

You can go for the same amount of fruit juice(grapes, orange, apple etc.)
Waaahh!!! This is amazing!! Eagerly waiting for the baking!!
So you're planning to make a cake, yes?
Bong Eats yep... baking is something that I am scared of.. so will make a cake to get rid of it!!
Bong Eats another question, where did you get the Tutti Fruity from??
+Sagnik Gangopadhyay We got it online. If you have difficulty finding it, just increase the quantity of one of the other dried fruits.
Bong Eats I found tutti fruity in one corner of a holiday themed aisle at the place where I shop!! Even two weeks back I had not seen anything!! So yayyyy!! No more worries!! Thank you so much though for taking the time to reply to all the concerns and the questions!!
it's very colourful😙😍
Hi,it's really helpful. Can you suggest howlong should I soak dry fruits if I use red wine?
We don't recommend using just red wine. The alcohol content isn't high enough to preserve the fruits.
