    Hello Fiona, very grateful for sharing this recipe. As I do not have molasses on hand, aside from jam, am wondering if I could sub it with the left over invert sugar syrup from mid-autumn festival? Thank you so much for your time.

    • @gracioustreatz7231
      @gracioustreatz7231  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Cecilia. Actually you can replace with your thick syrup. It's just a matter of flavour here. Just that molasses will give it a strong typical fruit cake flavour. However, there is no harm of trying your syrup. Technically it's fine ☺️

    • @gracioustreatz7231
      @gracioustreatz7231  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi David. I didn't roast the nuts. I usually do this...if I want my fruits to be well soaked, I usually soak them first, I have soaked them even up to 1 month before making the cake. However, for the nuts, I just added in the night before baking so that they will not be too soggy. You can give it a try and see if you like the texture. The nuts for me shouldn't be too hard and crunchy but just soft chewy for this fruit cake. Hope I answered you
