Unfortunately it is as bad as it was in the GH6. I tested both side by side - my complete review will come out in a few days. Anyway, recording 5.8K 30fps the GH7 with it's brand new battery was running for only 10 minutes longer than my GH6 with it almost 2 year old battery.
That’s somewhat of a relief, as I thought I was doing something wrong. It is kinda shocking that the S5IIX’s runtime is significantly better using the same battery. Odd.
Question as I am holding the GH7 camera steady with both hands, my left hand is gripping the camera and touching the new red record button on the bottom of the front of the camera when shooting photos and it become frustrating. Not sure how to disable this if anybody does know how to please let me know.
I am not sure how to disable this, I will check for that later on. One tip I'd like to share is to hold the camera grip with the right hand and to have the lens between index finger and thumb, to rest the camera body on your lower thumb/palm. This way you won't touch the red button by accident
And this is the REAL answer: in your camera menu you go to the gear wheel >> Fn Button Set >> Setting in REC mode >> scroll through all customizable buttons until you find the red REC button. Here you can assign a different function or even disable it.
Super helpful; thank you! New sub. How’s battery life been for you?

@@gravitymediapro I'm totally with you. I thought because of the new VENUS engine processor we would see a much longer battery life
Very helpful video. Can you pull a 4k photo from a video like the GH5 could?.
Yes, you still can grab a frame from your video footage.
