Tim’s nine life lessons speech is the most life changing speech I’ve ever heard. And all the people in a ’dead end’ that I’ve shared that speech to agree.
Tim Minchin's music has gotten me through some pretty shitty times in my life and it absolutely fills me with joy to hear new music from him and also see him as himself and not his stage personality. Tim you brighten my life and I want to thank you for being with me in my misery and also as I grow and heal 💜
Erm. Erm. I'm slightly freaking. MY RABBIT QUESTION WAS ACTUALLY CHOSEN!? I mean. They got them the wrong way round, but tbh. I don't care. Tim Minchin and Russel Howard have seen my rabbits
The way the album title is written implies that it could also be read as 'A Part To Get Her'. Meaning a body part to entice her. Or a role in a musical to tempt her into your world.
i think you went a little too deep into that. I only went as far to say they were apart in order to get back together again another day since the title is displayed as 'apart to get her' not 'a part'
His live shows are so brilliant. The combination of so far and stand-up is pretty great. I am not sure how many times I've seen him now... 5? And I'll go again.
Totally love Russell and he is light through my depression I watch his shows when I have crohn's disease pain at home and in hospital ive recently been in and I was laughing so hard in the ward It must have helped me with my recovery.. thankyou russ 🧚♀️👍🏴❤
Hope you feel better. Don't know what Crohn's Disease is, but agree humour is a great salve! That and spas should be on prescription for those who are sick, depressed or rundown ! Believe it or not, in parts of the continent people who are rundown are literally given prescriptions to go stay in spas for a week or two. Mental health would be a lot better here if we did the same.
Now, I love Tim Minchin even more. What we shoud be teaching is that we need to choose to be happy, and that stuff isn't the answer. I knew this, and I'm glad that Tim is spreading the news.
But you need to be aware of the hedonic treadmill. Avoid chasing happiness and enjoy the stoic middle ground, let happiness be an excited state in response to something actually happening.
@AZ Thompson I think the COVID-19 crisis has done that for a lot of people. Made them re-evaluate their lives and work out what really matters to them. The economic fallout from COVID will be devastating to the whole world's economy, but it has forced us all to re-evaluate what life really means, where we want to work, whether we want to even be on that treadmill anymore. A lot of people have chosen to get off it, but for all those that have done that, there are still millions on Instagram still posing for their cameras. My appetite for anything shallow was always low, but this crisis helped to underline that life is short, so spend it on what and who(m?) you really love. Life is way too short to care what others think. I am hoping for every shop closing on the high street another enterprise will open that helps us get fitter and healthier mentally and physically. I'm interested to see what 2021 will bring us, that is if Trump doesn't start another war before leaving office as a desperate last act to leave a 'legacy' ...
I love Tim Minchin so this was a wonderful interview, but I am miffed that his mom wasn't the one to ask the last question! I was waiting for "Hi Tim. Big fan." and now I'm a little bit dissatisfied.
Tim has always been comfortable in interviews, he's not the socially awkward mess he portrays himself on stage. He's very confident offstage and very extroverted
Wow. I haven't seen anything from Tim Minchin for a couple of years. Serious work, no eye liner, focused career choices, a healthier physique. I really like this hot new Tim. Looking forward to catching up on his current work.
OH NO!!! Can anyone tell me how long it takes for the Ear Worm of the "Pre-Show Poo, Pre-Show Poo..." to get out of your head? GAH!!! LOL! Really fun interview!
If you are gonna dive into his comedy, you may be sucked in and lose a few days. Its awesome. Also, he was in jesus christ superstar which is worth a watch. He cool.
Tim is not the same person he portrays onstage. Onstage he's socially anxious and very self depracting. It's all an act like most comedians, in reality he is intelligent, confident and actually pretty extroverted.
Jeez, I never thought of Tim Minchin as being depressed/depressing... "I've met the wealthy and it is so true that money can't buy you happiness..." "Your rabbits are beautiful...but they will die, and you will mourn them..." "I can't enjoy music because idiots are making crap songs that sell so much better than mine, or people are making music so much better than I can..." "Because of the hedonic treadmill you will never be able to remain happy..." - (By the way, I think the "hedonic treadmill" is a good thing that gives me comfort. Despite any huge ups OR downs, we tend to quickly return to a relatively stable level of happiness despite major positive or negative events or life changes. If you're having a hard time, "This too shall pass." If you are having a great time, good, enjoy it. Things don't have to be "Russell Howard's Wedding Day" level happy all the time, so savour them when they occur. On an average day, my average feeling is... not so bad. )
🤔Where did u hide this video Russ I have very angry feet rn and I ducking 🙊🤣love this dude so much its un real I know most of his song of by heart the dude is just too funny his sense of humour is 100% just like mine.. he's awesome I love his song Not Perfect it's my Favourite one🙊 but I've got to say Inflatable you is in my top 5 of his songs lmao TUNE🤗🤪💋💜🤟🤘💯👋... 🙈🙊🤣🤣🤣
I thought the thing about Ground-Hog-Day is that you re-live the same day without realising that you had lived it before. Therefore, each repetition would be a brand new unique day to you and if the experiences of that initial day were happy and exciting then so would all subsequent days be likewise. The day would never become boring because you would not be aware of ever having lived it before.
You mean 'shit show', right ? Have family back in the US. You have my sympathies... Hoping 2021 will be a better one for the entire world. Take care over there 🤗
I disagree, he's still got a lot to give and say. He could totally have sold out, but remains true to himself. Don't always agree with his views on things, but he is a genius in his time & we need more people like him who aren't afraid to dismantle the crazy world we all live in with such incisive intelligence and wit.
"Repetition as we found in Groundhog Day is never fun" - I disagree.Happiness does not come from being happy all the time. But if You choose a day where everything went wrong and You relive it to make it better, I thinkYou CAN find a sense of achievement and even happiness in the repition of learning. - It is what TO ME Groundhog day is all about.

Let me say first…I am a BIG fan of Tim. Seen a live show, watched both seasons of “Upright” (feedback : 1st series was better than 2nd for me but I am only one person so not saying everyone would say that no generalisations from me ), I have got some of his music, and I feel the same way he does about that arsewipe G. Pell. BUT…you knew there was a ‘but’ coming… Wealth or being rich is relative. Tim says rich people aren’t happy. That is such a generalisation. For a start where or how did he come by that data. Also, to me, Tim is rich; but maybe he is not happy and he is basing it on his own feelings. Tim once was a struggling artist. I am sure that he would not want to go back to those days if he is normal and, like the rest of us, hates paying bills when there is no money. Having to buy the cheapest of everything etc. Cannot have a holiday, cannot fly around the world and have homes in several countries. In some case not even having a roof over head. Also, happiness is a glib and relative term too. Some people are never happy. It is not in their personality, rich or poor. It is far better to be content. It is more stabilising; happiness is overrated and fleeting. As the line in ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ says, “it is not a sin to be poor, but it’s no great honour either”
You may find his interview on Fearn Cotton's Happy Place interesting. You can find it if you type that into youtube. It covers some of what you mentioned. I don't think you have interpreted what he was saying in the way he meant it exactly, listening to this other interview may change your mind on what he is saying and make you realise that he is more closely aligned to your opinion (or it may not) :)
Way to overthink the ‘best day’ question 🤦♂️. Just answer it with a day you enjoyed. I’m sure if you ate every meal at The Ivy, you’d soon get bored with it.
Tim’s nine life lessons speech is the most life changing speech I’ve ever heard. And all the people in a ’dead end’ that I’ve shared that speech to agree.
In his latest online 'live' show he talked about what a wank that became with that title. Haha.
It's a truly beautiful speech.

Gods do I love this man. Also, I loved him in Jesus Christ Superstar. He blew me away
