This unique private recording of Too Long In This Condition by
Pipe Major John D Burgess in Copenhagen 1979 is made on a Revox stereo tape recorder.
He was dressed in the same way as in this photo from 1979. His recital in Copenhagen Denmark had an effect like an earthquake and applause as at the decisive goal in a football final. I was 17 years old, got his signature on a diploma and held his pipes when he had to take off his jacket. Everyone present was affected for the rest of their lives.
Perhaps his greatest contribution: he made you proud to play the bagpipes!
Postscript: After the recital, I took the train home, turned on my desk lamp, took out my practice chanter, and started playing. And I've been playing ever since. Thanks John - you opened the doors and let me in.
