XC90 Parking Brake shoes with Adjuster mod

  • The Mk1 XC90 is renown for having a problematic parking brake. This is easily serviceable again when combining genuine shoes with the adjustment bar modification.
    In this video, I skim over the process and talk though some of the key points of doing this yourself at home.

    Just used your method to "expand" the parking brake cable. Had been struggling to get the leverage.

      Hope it helped - they do have "special tools" for these things, but it's such a silly task to have to need it for

      @@wheeldesire I need to fit the rear adjuster kit, as I feel what I've done will ultimately be temporary. But at least i can stop on a hill now!

    Why would Volvo design these without adjusters? Adjusters have been the norm on most handbrake shoes for decades, either manual or automatic.

      Always a mystery with different cars. It's, overall, an excellent bit of kit - but there seem to be some rather odd design decisions (like, as per my other video, putting one of the main modules in an area that is basically where all the rain water congregates!)
