    Correction, all of those fruits are available in all South American countries that shared the amazon rainforest such as Peru, Brazil, Ecuador, and Colombia. If you find them in Colombia you will find them in Peru, Ecuador as well as Brazil. These countries share the amazon rainforest and all of these countries have high altitudes.

      Wonder what favorite is? Still love Mamey Zapote it’s so unknown and expensive here, but a nice gift. Bet could cross and improve some of these. Fun to grow a new fruit from mixing odd with hardy. Looking for a disease resistant set to introduce for folks income. Colombia and Andes nations are blessed for choices. Yet they breed out us Blonde haired blue eyed tall kind and clever, we are all valuable and must be preserved. One day folks will understand the power of genes to save us all in all life. Wish I could have all to protect since last of my kind, no heir left to leave money too. Child stolen, no heir. It’s like losing a tree, like Hass avocado was almost lost, or many others. Don’t eat nopales like in Centro America? We have them but not same names here. Mix sour with relative that’s sweet, I have those loquats, rambutan, mamon chino, and other names in other places Latin names binomial is better to identify. Just other varieties, idioma nombres, names, colors sizes, do they have coco la mer or odd fruits from cactus, palms, orchids and other non deciduous broad leaf trees, grasses? Giant guavas? Water plants fruit? Super rare?

    The Nispero that you tried is also known as a Sapodilla or Chico Sapote. Sometimes nick named the brown sugar pear for its taste. Very different than the loquat that is grown in the US that is more of a subtropical apricot.

    Interesting that sapodillas are called nisperos in Columbia! In Guatemala, the traditional loquats are called nisperos. Sapodillas are my favourite, hands down... so deliciously sweet, like you say! I would say the flavour is closest to brown sugar. Blended with bananas they are heavenly! Saludos mamita!

    If Mangosteen is your favorite fruit, you should try Achachairu (Garcinia humilis manly cultivated in Bolivia), it´s like Mangosteen but sooooo much better, if you want something even better but also even harder to find, look for mameyito/jorco (Garcinia intermedia) and the best Garcinia in existence, can be found in Africa, its called Imbe (Garcinia livingstonei ) this is without doubt the best tasting fruit on this planet.

    Good and interesting video. Colombia is a tropical country and because of its geographical position and the weather there are a lot of fruits. Many of the fruits that you mentioned are use only in juice form like curuba, badea and maracuyá. Some others are like snacks as you said but they are also used in juice. Most of these fruits are goon for your health, for example, granadilla is really good for your stomach, badea and maracuyá are good for people who suffer hypertension etc

    Curuba and Maracuya are really acidic. It's a one and done fruit unless you want a stomach ache or juice it. Also I'm pretty sure lulo is naranjilla which is tastes somewhere between a kiwi, tomato and orange.

    I'm Bogotano... During my childhood I hated the Tomate de Árbol, and in my case it didn't took me 4 tomates de arbol to like it... I actually had to live in the Colombian caribbean coast (for a year when I was 20) to actually like the juice, I think it tastes better in places with a warmer weather... Anyway, it was since then that I started to like te tomate de árbol juice, even after my trip to the caribbean coast.

    Sorry for all the comments but I need to say about dragon fruit first time I had it it tasted awlful. I tried it again recently still thought it tasted awlful. It was pink on the outside and more rounder than the one in this video. One day at the health food store I saw this yellow fruit. They told me it was dragon fruit also and that the taste was better. They gave me a sample and it was good. I could not believe the difference in taste between the two. Outside they look different. Inside the same. Love tree tomato. The ones I found here in Hawaii are red.

    • @MangoMamaa
      @MangoMamaa  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no comparision between pink and yellow dragon fruits, the pink ones might be prettier but they taste like water! :)

    I LOVE this video! I will be going to Colombia soon and am so excited to try all the different fruits. I wish you would've went more in depth in how to eat some of them though!! For example, the mangostino are the white things seeds with flesh and that's what you eat?? Haha sorry if it's a silly question. Awesome video 💖

    • @hadasah1318
      @hadasah1318 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      A few more questions! So with the pitaya are you supposed to chew the seeds? And with the feijoa are you supposed to eat the peel?

    • @MangoMamaa
      @MangoMamaa  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Saki! First of all, when you come to Colombia always feel free to ask the fruit vendors how the fruit is eaten! They will be happy to tell you and teach you. Some fruits are consumed as juice only but I always like to try the fruit as it comes off the tree.
      Feijoa for example can be eaten entirely but some people prefer the inside. It is mostly used for juices.
      From a mangosteen you eat the big white parts and throw out the big seeds inside.
      You eat whatever is inside the pitaya, you don't really "sense" the seeds anyway. But be careful, pitayas are great for speeding up bowel movements ;)

    I'm telling you my jaw is dropping from seeing some of these fruit s I've never seen before and we have tropical fruits here. When I first moved here there was no mangosteen, rambuton, rollinia. Lot of it they brought from Thailand. I do not like eating guanaba, but I so so love the juego de guanaba. Making the juice is very time consuming.

      I've been to Colombia many many times. I'm Colombian-American. Been awhile since I was last there. Mainly I go to a Medellin. So possibly there are not all those fruits there. I'm thinking maybe they are mainly in la costa.

      I have purchased all these fruits in Bogotá. The big cities is where most things get transported to since the demand there is bigger from people and restaurants. I have never seen big markets on the coasts!

    Why no Borojo ?! I wish I could get my hands on the fruit or at least aquire seed. But I can't find it anywhere. Most of the others I can find here in South Florida. Some of them I'm growing.

      Amigo calma, no sé cuál es el problema con los mexicanos, la papaya no es de México, las frutas no pertenecen a un país como tal, pertenecen a zonas topográficas específicas, la papaya es originaria de lo que hoy es el sur de México, centroamérica y el norte de suramérica... No de "México". Los mexicanos deben de bajarle a su territorialidad, se parecen a los venezolanos con su cuento de que la arepa es original de ellos... recordemos que las divisiones administrativas de los países son solo eso, divisiones imaginarias, la tierra no las entiende.

    I love this video! Have you tried uchuvas? They are one of my favorite fruits. I also love a good icy corozo juice.
