Is there a way to do this if I don't have a wiring harness connected to the car stereo?
My OEM head unit is not working, and I've tried testing the connectors on the OEM harness, but the leads from my multimeter don't fit into the holes in the connector. I don't want to damage the OEM connectors, and I don't want to cut the harness wires to establish a test connection. Do I have any other options?

Super late reply but why not put paper clips in the connectors? That should be small enough then touch your multimeter leads to them

I tried this after having no success getting my Joying radio to turn on after installing. It kept blowing 7.5 amp fuse in my 2007 Toyota Sienna Limited. When I tried connecting the Joying to the battery with test leads as you show in the video the test leads on the battery side immediately started smoking and melting.

Did you ever get it to work in the car? I have a 2007 Tundra Limited and it also keeps blowing my 7.5 amp ACC fuse under the dash

The keys have been filed on the edges to ensure they don't scratch the screen, stop at 3:14 and see what I mean.

when i do this test my unit works, but when i wire up the harness I don't get any power, i need help, please. When the harness is wired up I have continuity between power and ground but I can't test continuity for the accessory (red) because the harness opening isn't large enough for my test leads. I've wired up the harness 3 times now and I'm running out of wire on my unit's harness :(

If you test it like above video, the item can turn on, it means that the item is working. Please contact us via info@joyingauto.com with your order number, then we can help you how to wire the harness in your car.

Keag Bert I'm having the same problem. My OEM unit appears to be dead, but I want to test for power from the OEM wiring harness and also test the unit itself while it's not attached to the harness... basically trying to isolate the problem. Like you, I'm having the same issue with test leads that are too big to go into the openings on the harness. I'm going to do a search for other types of leads for my meter to see what I can find.

I discovered my problem, I have a ford and I was using the wrong harness. The factory harness didn't have accessory power in it, it was actually located in a second harness that I thought was only for the CD changer. It turned out to be RAP (Retained Accessory Power, the power that makes the radio still play after engine shutoff until a door is opened). I had an aftermarket unit that I could at least test by twisting the red and yellow together and connecting to 12V power source so i was able to confirm my unit was working.
