Dang Pete! Glad you figured that out! Lucky that spring jammed up when you messed with it or you may have kept on chasing ghosts! Transbrakes, wiring, linkages, and who knows what else you would have tried. You earned that one! Best of luck with the no prep.

Also, I used to call my transbrake solenoid the transbrake too until the transmission guy picked up the valve body and said "This is your transbrake, that is your solenoid!"lol
Transmissions are a different world, I could build a transmission way before I could actually name the parts in them! Even now I can only name some of the parts & definitely don't really understand how anyone was ever smart enough to study fluid paths and manipulate them in a way that a transbrake actually works..

Petey I'm a little surprised you didn't check the wiring do you have power at the solenoid do you have a good ground how about the switches . Trans brake issues are rarely if ever mechanical they are almost always electrical issues ...Back when we used to street race down at the Wedge inn or the Hutch we were foot braking it ..

I had a crazy manual valve body in a 400 that was shifting it self from 2nd to 3rd ..🤪
I had the same problem there is a small spring like a spring in a ball point pen it wasn’t included with the valve body they forgot to pack it .it would work one time when the brake cam on it would push the valve in and there was no way it could return itself .hope this helps Jersey Vinnie green
