    9:04 Calvin! DUDE!!! That MaxxECU CAN bus sniffing is AWESOME!!! I didn't know an ECU could do such a thing.
    I'm always trying to mod oddball cars and have had the same exact problem. Begging for support. Or just having to use tons of analog ins and out.
    I knew of CAN bus sniffers but having a fully programmable ECU is PERFECT for someone doing a piggyback.
    THANK YOU!

    Very cool. There are front hubs from some specific s10 blazers (2003 4wd iirc) that people use to convert to 5 lug. That said your plan simplifies a lot of things and should save a bunch of weight!

    I'm watching the CANBUS portion of this video for the third time. Contemplating exactly how you will integrate the CAN of the MaxxECU with the CAN of the vehicle and the factory modules. Such as which one you will leave in charge of controlling the throttle and which one will be left just making use of the information about what is happening on the CANBUS... VERY interesting to find out what ends up working well for you! This is an actual gamechanger in a lot of ways.

    • @Calvin-Nelson
      @Calvin-Nelson  วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Yep. I still want my cruise control, so factory ECU will do the throttle control for now. I'm still figuring out the rest.

      Mines a GA8HP70 from a 650i, behind a 686chp LS3, Domi adaoter, Turbolamik. Had originally bought a ZF8hp75 from a Stelvio/Foglio model- about 6 weeks into building an adaoter gave up and bought the DomiWorks and another trans lol. WAYYY more work than I was ready for! I'll get back to it eventually. But the real thing with these transmissions ISNT putting 1200hp thru them. It's putting 800+ftlbs thru the factory tcu. It was never designed to make the torque calculations (it ONLY uses input+ output shaft speeds) on a stock tcu, you get into trouble above 800ish. With the Htg or turbolamik tcu swap, you give it the ability or "operational ability" to make smarter decisions faster and have 100% control. They can then make smarter decisions and handle WAY more power. Just ask any of the supra guys. I started researching and building models and layouts for my swap 3 years ago. Research research research. I joined every group, forum, international chat , and basically mass mailed all the major players til we were on first name basis'. This video could be cool ; but it's 3am and it's gotta wait til the AM! just saw this first comment and thought I'd add some user feedback to at least ONE of the guys that immediately quotes wiki (even tho you had a correct "correction" ) lol. I'm pretty sure if I let it play, he makes that point clear. If you've watched it and he doesnt- good for you, I'm sure he's figured it out since filming. Wait...he was saying 707hp when I paused it...yup- you're 100% he at least starts this video off on an "oops". Well good for you. But anyways, in my group alone, we've got a handful of 12-1400whp cars on stock 70/75s, the only thing I did you mine was had a friend install a sonnax steel for me to toughen up a clutch pack. But basically stock. With a can/tcu he may run into problems down the road, but should hold up quite well. (Can/tcu uses stock tcu) compared to the others using ryuchip/similar solder pcbs/jumper sets. Can't wait to watch!

    • @g.wes.3906
      @g.wes.3906 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @beasyphone not sure about the turbolamik. The whole process has always seemed cumbersome. I like the integration that maxxecu has provided. For example, the bmw e9x chassis, they provide a standalone, wiring harness, tcu, and canbus integration for ls swaps for not much more than the cost of the turbolamik by itself.

      @Calvin-Nelson watched further. I thought you would have just put 2wd Chevy truck parts on that are rated for the weight, not much lighter cars? And from what I've watched on the Silverados etc, you can get pretty good brake options for them. And I'd imagine by now not that expensive wheel options rated to the load rating.
      And of course, turbo AWD Falcons known as the territory, run 8s with AWD and 1400hp, full weight cars. But I guess 1200hp skyline gt-rs do too and the camera footage of both of them aren't that extreme as cleatus, who is the king of extreme. Especially given its only a 10sec goal, the AWD would help it.

Ive seen alot of jaguars around those years for alot less, 8-12k for a solid body. That would be insanely classic and amazing wow. Like aston martin vibes with an i6 , 800hp.... Or also idk how maybe Northstar but the mr2 later years are pretty good money and value. But rear engine. Similiar if not cheaper than the caddys. I bet that xlr is an electronics nightmare along with all the panels and sound deadener and whatnot. Id like to see a 3000gt 4200 swapped either awd or red conversion.

    Some bogarts on the tb would go mad hard. Loving what I'm seeing im a huge huge fan of thr gmt360. It's the perfect size for thr do everything vehicle and they come with excellent engine choices! I had a 97z!😅 Don't do that.. Unique everythubg there. If I was to get another I'd look for an envoy

    Being able to read CAN like that is so good, just from being able to use a lot of the stock electricals without re-wiring.
    Deleting AWD, though :( It's become a big deal over here, even big power pro mods are sending power to all four wheels. Oddly enough, I see less complaints about torque steer and more issues from bouncing off the start, since most cars are longitudinal FWD VW platforms with their stock gearboxes modified to also couple to a rear diff.

      A lot of guys are finding it easier to convert the car to 2WD and go faster over here. If I was more into the street racing stuff, I'd give the 4wd a try

      @@Calvin-Nelson I get it, it's far easier to access prep tracks in the US (even with the shutdowns and other issues) + allows you to take some weight off. But since no prep got big in Brazil, people found out it's easier to drive all four wheels to improve traction over making big mods to fit wider tires or a completely different transmission setup, for example.

    CAN delay and defaulted signals are why you may want to use hard-wired inputs for some signals.

    • @Calvin-Nelson
      @Calvin-Nelson  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Agreed. TPS should probably be hardwired if you are doing fuel control with the Maxxecu. Coolant temp is perfectly fine with a couple hundred milliseconds of delay

    so, just throwing this out there but.. to do the 5 lug swap on my Saab 9-7x I used 04 S10 front hubs and cut the cv end down to use to keep the bearing together for the rwd swap, then just redrilled the factory brake rotors.

      There's a company in Europe called TurboLamik that makes a stand-alone TCU for it. They can do all kinds of fun stuff, even emulate a clutch pedal. But I think the software is proprietary.
      Edit: This info may not be helpful to you, since you're using a MaxxECU. But maybe it'll help a viewer?

    If you keep the AWD, you should be able to program any potential torque steer out of it w/ that ECU, no? Since everything is CAN? Or maybe just more trouble than it's worth for something it sounds like you don't want to deal with and which isn't needed to get to where you're going :D AWD sure is great in the snow though, I imagine especially so w/ your high stall converter

      The front wheel drive system is just not necessary for what my goals are.

    I always get maxxecu and classicecu mixed up... I wasnt aware of maxxecu mini. Interesting. I know ms3 pro mini came out not long ago either. So many options. I think joker? Had a half off sale for carb mount ecu, like $600 to start, cheaper than holley snipers. I know everyone likes port injection but tbi isnt bad for a sub 650hp street car as opposed to having to buy new injectors for power changes and all that jazz.... I always think its a tough call, ideally port injection but tbi for the price always looks enticing.
