@@DouglasGomesBueno Japanese karate was made for children, but with the idea that some of them, when they grow up, will be chosen by their teacher to learn the real karate. Unfortunately WW2 cut that idea short.
This is like, though not exactly like, the Unsu taught by Higa Yuchoku of Kyudokan Shorin ryu. It seems to have originated with Arakaki Seishō. The Shotokan kata called Unsu seems to be a different kata entirely. Others will correct me if I'm wrong.
Shotokan Unsu is a derivative of the Shito-Ryu's version. Many of Funakoshi's students were sent to Mabuni to learn kata that weren't in the original Shotokan syllabus. Many of these students died during WW2, so much of its original Unsu form had to be rehashed by the dojo's remaining students. That's why Unsu itself varies between original Shotokan schools (e.g. Kenko-Juku Unsu vs JKA Unsu vs Keio University Unsu). Even the Shotokai school doesn't teach Unsu at all.
He flows from one movement to the next, like Chinese style, yet the movements are those of Karate. This must be old style Okinawa Ryu, when the Chinese influence was more obvious. This should be of interest to modern Karateka seeking to find their roots.
@@一條龍-k2kAnd what about the concepts of chimiku, Gamaku, etc.? Okinawan karate is much superior to other arts, but Japanese karate is very different, it has no concepts with Okinawa karate.
Aragaki Unsu/Unshu. Practically identical to the version we do in Koryu Uchinadi. This is a really excellent performance as well as an invaluable piece of history.
I can verify these moves as effective. I use them against my coworkers when there is only one doughnut left in the lunch room. I always win on a full stomach.
This man moved so clean! His footwork made it look like he was gliding over the ground.
Because he does the movements for movements' sake, not for show. Competitive kata is, basically, dance fighting. Or fight dancing.
@@boleperishon5272Japanese Karate are not made thinking in street fight but a truly art that goes beyond fight skills.

Looks like Shito Ryu stance.

This is nothing compared to unsu...the stop the stance just everything. This is not unsu AT ALL
This is as if the video is edited to increase fluidity! Amazing. These old videos are so valuable - they take us back to the source.

I guess in the old days they practiced karate in a business suit
You might be thinking of modern Japanese flavored Karate, where stiff snappy movements are for aesthetics and not akin to the original Kata.
I can't undestand first movements. When karate-ka in shiko-dachi, what movements he is doing by his hands?
This is amazing! What lineage is this from?
I want to see the original Chinese form where the Okinawan got this kata
Can anyone tell me what karate style this is, it's so identical to the one my dad used to practice, just that my dad forgot what the style was called
I guess there is no left leg kicks in this kata.
I always thought it is in Okinawa, but I am not 100% sure.

Coge libros, que te hace falta.
That was awesome; like a cat.
That ain't Unsu. More like Unko.
Interesting! Origato!!
Arigato
Very awkward moves. Cross legged stances?
Nothing like Shotokan’s Unsu at all!
I think not unsu !
Nada a ver com o usu do estilo shotokan
This ain't Unsu, bro!
Educate yourself in the history of karate, 'bro'.

Do you say this to boxers shadowboxing as well?
Although lovely to watch, is this Unsu?

Yes. Shorin-Ryu version of Unsu.
