Great video, thank you for detailed breakdown. I'm practicing Kyokushin, but we also have this kata, with different moves based on our version of kihon of course, but the overall pattern is still the same and it's very interesting to learn it. Not sure, but probably for future videos it would be nice to have a little bit more names of the techniques that you use, I think it's easier to learn when students know the exact name of the move here and there. What I also noticed, that it looks different when the kata is executed by a person who also pays a lot of attention to strength training. I sincerely believe myself that it is very important, not only for kumite, but even for kata it gives much better control over your body and helps to focus on specific points where you have to apply the power, and even if the technique does not seem to be powerful at the beginning, starts to make sense when you actually feel that you have strength that you can apply there to make it work. Thanks again, great work!
Found it! I just got my Blue Belt last week. Now I can start practising Bassai-Dai and gee it's way more challenging than Saifa. Thanks a tonne mate! 🙏🏻
@@jkgardiner being a beginner myself I'd love in depth guides for the heien katas too. not saying you shouldn't do any of the more advanced katas, our dojo is mixed with all belts so we do all the katas together.
very nice video. Thanks. Just as a small suggestion, I think its better to have the full Kata at the start from one angle. For beginners these different angles can be very confusing. And then at the end maybe put a full length again with full speed to get a feeling for the correct timing. But hey, its your vid of course. Please do more of them, i vote for Gankaku 😀
I can confirm that. Loved the video and the in depth explanations! But I must confess, the cuts at the beginning confused me a bit. 🙈 Was wondering if this is the whole kata. 🙈 Sorry, i am new to karate. 😬
@jkgardiner thanks, good to know. I like the layout u do with the katas so was hopeful lol. I was taught a little different but I like ur style of it, will be adapting more to it.
Sir when we are in the bulking phase we take 200-500 kcal surplus but when we do it with martial arts so lots of cardio happens in martial arts so we need to take more than 200-500 kcal surplus?
Please, more of this!
yes please 🙏

This is exactly what I've been needing, do you have videos for more shotokan katas?
I have a few on the heians but not in this depth, I’ll be doing more as the response from this one seems to be good

One of our sensei’s told me at the beginning to start to lean forward and as soon as your heels just lift of the floor then propel your self forward
@@cj-rb8fz yes, I usually think of it as a push from the hips though rather than a lean from the head
Great video, really well paced and informative. Could you also do one for Kanku sho please?

Sensei why hooks and uppercut are not allowed in WKF?
Sir is it good to use free weight over the machine because free weights train stabilizer as well or both will work?
Both the same
Sir as you do gym in morning so do you take any pre workout meal or not and if yes what it is?
@@harshaltheboss yes, porridge oats and a protein shake
Bunkai please.
Will cover this in another video. I was on my own filming this one
Sir make a video on your gym session push pull and legs

A surplus is added to your kcal expenditure, with martial arts it may be a higher expenditure but the surplus still should only be a few hundred kcal
❤❤❤
