- 2007 Lexus GS450h and I am doing a front strut replacement. These struts are actually fairly simple to do but you will have to remove the spring from the strut. The GS450h does not have an option to buy the strut complete unless you get it from Lexus. I used KYB struts and a spring compressor to do the job.
Parts:
Strut: 7210007 and 7210008
Tools:
Spring Compressor: amzn.to/3vWVFDk
Filming Gear:
Go Pro Hero 10 Kit: amzn.to/3S9kd55
Go Pro Endurance Battery: amzn.to/3S1KXUS
Manfrotto Camera Tripod: amzn.to/3BnmYch

is it jacked on the lower control arm bushing?
I jacked the car up on the lift point along the pinch weld but I put a jack stand on the lower control arm bushing just in case the jack failed.
@ Hey m8 i’m doing springs on the same car and your video has been perfect could you give me the torque specs for the rear?
@exohamster2658 sure thing. I'll look them up tomorrow for you
@@operationoverhaulThank you so much
@@operationoverhaulalso if you don’t mind clarifying for me real quick when you mention the torque specs, the bolt down below that’s 70 ft lbs is this bolt at 6:51? and do you also know the spec for the strut nut?
How much harder are the rear struts to install? Do you have a video for that?
It is actually a lot harder to be honest. You have to remove most of the trunk carpet and interior to access the sensor and upper bolts then the differential support cover underneath with some of the control arms. I do not have a video up of that sorry.
Do you happen to know rear kyb struts for this car with adaptive suspension thanks
I can get the number for you. Let me look it up
The part number for the kyb should be 7210006

Will the AVS system just find the correct values in which to operate ? just wondering if the old struts AVS position were say 90 degrees from 0 and the new strut was at 0 degrees wouldn't the motor be 170 degree out ? or missing 90 degrees of movement ? Thanks for any info to the contrary :0)
So, I looked up about that and everything I am seeing states it adjust and correct the values on it own. So you should not have to worry about that when replacing them.
@@operationoverhaul thats great to know! I have a Toyota Crown and I have been wondering about this for a while. Thankyou!
@@jonathancolling2284 your welcome if there is anything ever you need just let me know
Hello! are the shock absorbers you installed with avs?
No, this one did not have avs according to the vin number.
Hello 👋👋 I have to replace them up back and front
Do i need to buy them computerized?
It depends on your vehicle and if it has active sway bars or not. Would have to look at it to see if they are standard or electronic. The dealership should be able to tell you the part numbers you need based on your vin number.
Great video, appreciate all the information. I've got the struts but was told to change the strut mounts as well. Do you know where I can get them from and if they have an OEM replacement.? They don't seem to come with the struts I ordered.
You can either get them at the dealership or look on rockauto or partsgeek.
Did any lights come on, on the dash
It did not have any lights come on before or after the install/replacement.
The reason I ask is because those struts are for non active suspension and that car has active suspension but if no lights came on then I'll get those too .
Before getting these I called Lexus and with his vin number to verify the original part numbers. They stated that his car did not have active suspension according to the vin and I cross referenced the part numbers they gave me and these matched it. No lights were on and have not been on since the video as I am about to work on the vehicle again actually because his steering rack and timing cover need to be changed (which is a lot of hours lol). If you wanted, you could call lexus and get the original part numbers for your car and cross reference it with the part numbers on these just to verify before purchasing. I just would not want you to get these and they are wrong after you installed them. If you wanted as well, if you got the numbers I could verify that they are correct for you if you would like.
Thanks for the info

Thank you for this video
Your welcome and if there is anything else that you may need, feel free to ask.
Does the gs350 use the same shocks as the 450h ??
I had someone else ask me that one time before and when I looked part numbers they were totally different from Toyota. So I am pretty sure they are different.
Nice video mate, I'm waiting for my gs450h atm. I'm sure I will use this information in the future. Thank you, keep them coming 👌👍
Thank you and if you have any questions while working on anything on it feel free to ask.
@@operationoverhaul Hey where Did you purchase your Struts
I need the link for these asap
@HollywoodDre5441 I ordered them directly from lexus. But I believe you can get them special ordered now through oreillys. I had a friend purchase his from there and they were the same part numbers.

Hey mate. I am really surprised that I found this video. I am looking for a replacement of OEM 48510-80435 and 48520-80182 struts / shock absorbers with adaptive suspension for my GS430. I found these KYB551107 and KYB551106 to be exactly that. I know that these are monotube design and I was wondering - how is the car handling after installing these ? Is it riding harder than before ? Thank you a lot.
I saw your message on Instagram and replied there but I'll also reply here as well. I only noticed a difference at higher speeds with harder bumps and the shocks are a bit softer in my opinion.
@@operationoverhaul Thanks a lot. I will definitely order these as a cheaper option.
Excellent 👌
Wouldn't you rather also change the springs?
You can change them too but these were not bad and these springs are about 300 dollars an axle.
