10mm > .45ACP The only advantage the .45acp has is that ALL ammo is subsonic. Easy to suppress, but so is my 9mm and I’d rather smack dat booty with the 10mm that’s got a compensator on the end like my XDM OSP 10mm. That’s my self defense/hunting/combat handgun of choice, wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s all cause of the BEST millimeter 10/10.

From a statistical point, 10mm is the best cartridge hands down for the "stopping power" strength. But from a personal standpoint, .45 ACP is cheaper to shoot but if you have a g21, you can get a conversion barrel for 10mm and with an upgraded guide rod and trigger housing, you have a 2 in 1 scenario. I personally love .45 ACP only because that's what I was raised to believe. I carry a g26 9mm as a conceal carry and I recognize that I prefer the larger grip of the .45/10mm frames. Don't look at the historical factor but more of the practical factors. Round count, muzzle velocity, and ranged velocity all play a factor in the "best carry piece" but in reality, if it fits your hand better, you're more accurate/proficient, or if it's down to the scientific analysis, just go with what you know and appreciate. Ill carry my full size g21 but out of necessity I'll carry the sub compact g26 or my favorite makarov. In the end if you're a gun guy I'll support you!

I agree, or with that standard .45 acp upgrade the barrel to shoot 45 super, an now you can shoot all versions of 45, 45+p , 45 super an 45 acp. An the 45 super is close to 460 Rowland power.

I bought my Colt Delta Elite 10mm 1911 back in 1987. The 10mm was still brand new, and the only ammo for it was rip-roaring full-power Norma ammo. The first time I fired it I loved it. 10mm is a great caliber.
However ... I also own a Mars-modified Series 70 1911 Colt race gun with a 3.4 lb trigger pull. I love that gun and will never part with it! I think the .45 ACP round will be around forever because it is the closest thing to "perfect", in my opinion. @@tylerwilliams6022 Yes, it was the cut in the slide rails the one I was talking about. Have read about the experience from many others Delta owners, and it seems that as long as you stay away from the very hot boutique 10mm rounds like Buffalo Bore or Underwood, it should be pretty safe to shoot standard original pressure rounds. The Sig V-Crown 10mm in 180gr are not particularly hot rounds, but neither watered down 40 S&W-like ammo: At about 1250 fps & 624 ft/lb, they are strong enough to put some stress on those Delta Elite’s, and mines have managed it perfectly and without any problems.

It seems to me to be the most underrated duty handgun caliber today, but after testing it in gel and through barriers, talking to a good number of LE folks who have actually used it in deadly force incidents, and hunting deer with it, I have switched completely to it for all defensive uses like woods and everyday carry (I have dropped 9mm, 10mm, and .40 completely), and only keep one pistol in .45 for competitions.

I have a SA 1911 TRP in 45 and love it, but I live in Alaska and really wanted to move up to 10mm for 3 reasons.
    A. Obviously being able to send a 220 hardcast at higher velocity is a huge factor
    B. 15 or 16 + 1 rounds wins hands down against 7 or 8 + 1.
    C. Did I mention 15 or 16 + 1 rounds!!!!
I was so hoping SA would launch the Prodigy DS in 10mm. A 1911 DS in 10mm that I didn’t need to take a mortgage out on is where it’s at. SA really hit it out of the park with the Hellcat and Hellcat Pro in 9mm. Honestly I thought it a bit foolish to add another 9mm to compete with the Hellcat when everyone is jumping on the 10mm bandwagon right now. Ugh, I so wanted that Prodigy in 10mm!
So I just picked up the new XDm 10mm. Very nice piece once you get past the plastic’y handle, and damn, who has hands large enough for the medium handle grip? I wear 2X gloves which are a little tight so I don’t have small hands by any measure, but the medium rear handle grip just makes the gun feel clumsy. Changed out the grip spacer for the small and that grip is awesome. Literally, feels like a whole different gun! I really don’t know who the large spacer grip is intended for, maybe the bear???
    Great video as usual 👍🏻

I prefer 45 in a 1911 and heres why. 45 Super. 22lb Wolff spring kit with the included firing pin spring, Flat bottom firing pin stop. $30 is all you need for those 2 items and you can convert your 45 acp to shoot 45 Super. (Id also recommend adding a full-length guide rod, recoil buffer pad and a 25lb mainhousing spring, though these are not needed.)
45 Super has slightly less energy than 10mm (220gr 10mm is about 675ftlbs of energy, 255gr Hard Cast 45 Super puts out 654ftlbs of energy. Though I'd argue that the 255 will keep its energy better and longer not only over distance but through "a medium") but you can also shoot 45 ACP out of that 45 super 1911. No need to change springs. Which means you can practice on the cheap, and then also shoot 45 super out of it back-to-back. No need to change anything about the gun. Can't beat that IMO, and you have much more options on what kind of ammo you want to shoot. 45 super also comes in 185gr to 255gr, and so does 45 acp and +P.
    Just my 2 cents

For an urban environment, the 45 ACP is best for home defense and personal protection, due to less over penetration liability. But 10mm has the advantage of barrier penetration while maintaining energy. 45 acp already has less energy and with such a slow speed loses energy even quicker. I just bought a RIA 10mm 1911 Ultra FS over the weekend. I shoot better with her than I do with my Glock G19 Gen 5. I'm a short dude so for instance, flipping the takedown notch when I'm loaded and ready is difficult to reach for my thumb than the G19. I shoot with both hands, my left hand does the aiming and my right hand does the firing. As an extra safety once I got my sights on a target I can disengage my takedown and all I have to do is pull the last safety. Weight it self definitely helps the counter balance as the G19 for me feels as if the slide wants to rips itself off the polymer.
This is my first year finally owning a firearm and I wish I had gotten into this a long time ago, but better safe than sorry.
Any tips is greatly appreciated and I learn best from constructive criticism.

Own a glock 20, S&W M&P 2.0 10mm, SA XDm 5.25 10mm. I have been considering a 1911 style 10mm to add to my collection, the TISAS is intriguing at that price point CF is offering it at. I would offer that you really need to consider your ammo choice more carefully with whatever gun you select. There is a wide variance in 10mm from stuff that is just barely hotter than .40 at just over 1000 FPS on up to your Underwood and Buffalo Bore running in the 1400+ FPS range. You may want to give some of the really hot stuff from companies like Underwood a pass depending on your choice of weapon. For instance, Colt Delta Elite is supposedly one that you want to be careful of. I have no knowledge myself, just have read reviews. What are your thoughts on Revolvers in 10mm?

Just when 10MM is finally coming onto its own, there is one on the horizon which threatens to dethrone it. As far back as the late 1800's, Mauser tried to introduce "Rifle ballistics" Into pistols. The 7.65MM "Broom handle" And the Russian Tokarov were early attempts to bring rifle ballistics to pistols. The round nose bullets had then "Ice picking" Mauser solved this problem in rifles by introducing the Speer point bullet. Terminal ballistcs was a side effect for the purpose of the pointed bullet was ballistic coefficient. This is probably why the 7.65 pistol rounds never recied the pointed bullet which might have saved the "RBP" Rifle ballistic pistol concept. Today, we have the 7.5 BRNO which is the major caliber "RBP" To the 5.7 being the new minot caliber RBP. No sooner will everyone have their 10's, the 7.5 will become the new 10MM

In his book "Fighting handguns" The later Colonel Cooper, who was a strong advocate of the .45 ACP condemned the Army Brass for insisting the .45 ACP replicate the ballistics of the .45 Scofield, not the .45 Long Colt. As far back as the 1950's, Colonel Cooper decried the downloaded government spec 230 hardball calling for what was then called the "Super X" Load. Today, we would call it "+P" Where the 230 grain hardball is launched to 965 FPS. Coopers choice for defensive loads was the Keith Bullet, a 200 grain lead semi wadcutter loaded to 965 FPS. He would later eschew JHP's in favor of the 230 grain Truncated cone bullet. Hatcher was right all along! He concluded that a non expanding bullet needed to be at least .45 caliber.

S&B 10mm is like 1000 FPS on a hot day, should be like 1300 fps for a 180 grain and then you would have had a different opinion on the 10mm recoil. This is the problem when comparing 10mm to 45, 45 is already loaded "hot" while the 10mm is often downloaded to 40S&W levels. Get some full power loads and its like having a different gun. Full size 10mm is fine. Canceled carry .45 has worked for over 100 years and is not as snappy in a small weapon. People forget a 1848 colt Dragoon revolver will still stop issues just as well now and it did when it first came out.

Once all the layaways are paid off at the LGS I'll have a 9mm, 10mm, and .45acp 5" 1911 pistols.

45 ACP can use lead bullets, is very accurate at 25 and 50 yds, brass NEVER needs trimming and ammunition is plentiful. It is very effective as a killer. To attempt to stop a Grizzly bear, a 10 is fine. If you reload, you can shoot lead bullets and 5 gr of Bullseye costs about $4 a box.

Awe come on man,you should've shown us you putting one of them back together again. Lord knows I hated putting my 1911 back together,it did not want to cooperate with me.
