What a feast. Sweet decadence. There is so much of love, in everything you do, the choice of the beautiful blue striped table cloth , lovely crockery, a glass of wine to go with the pasta ,gently crowned with mince, topped with cheese drizzled with olive oil, and after that fine repast a rich date cake with vanilla ice cream, enjoyed by the warm glow of candle light!
Can there be anything more satisfying? Guido is indeed a very lucky man.!
Good God!!! The choice of ceramic and Sterling bowls, spoons, the cutlery, plates and a Swedish grandmother with incredible taste for wall hangings! This video has it all. From the War in Ukraine to the floods of Australia. From that beautiful wedding ring smashing the dates to that infectious smile. You are a woman that has grace and class oozing from her pours and a heart that's as big as the room you cook in. It was a treat to watch. Bravo.

Kylie I’m so happy to hear that your parents are ok. I know exactly how you were feeling because when Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico in 2017 I had no idea how my parents were for 11 days. It was the most horrific and stressful moment ever. There is so many horrible things going on in our world that just listening to it all makes my heart break and cry. I will add your home and the Australian people to my prayers.

Kylie, this is such a lovely recipe and video. The floods in QLD and NSW are terrible (Lismore was almost completely submerged) but we are helping each other in the ways Australians do. I make several cakes similar to this recipe because my husband and sons grew up with my baking with dates, nuts, and of course chocolate. Gratefully they love home cooking and appreciate the love infused into every dish as your husband does and your children will too, it’s a deep exchange of love.

Thank you so much. Actually, in the Middle East traditionally the first thing that passes their lips after fasting for Ramadan is dates. Guido is giving up alcohol for Lent so he said he can’t give up sugar at the same time. 😊

Decadent indeed. 😋 The Ivy restaurant in London is famous for it's sticky toffee pudding using dates, but your recipe is a notch higher with the ginger, spices and orange zest. 👌🥰

I just made this recipe tonight !!!! omg the sauce is insanely good and smells divine while cooking. I substituted gluten free flour and almond flour for the regular flour and it still turned out so moist and delicious ! Definitely worth the effort mmmmmmmmmm Thank you for the great idea for the dates !
