I really appreciate these videos (especially the Kia Rio) they help me locate and repair a lot of small things that I can do/ have the tools for at least to get me somewhere that can finish the bigger jobs (I live out in the middle of nowhere) because cars just do not break down right next to a garage or while you are in town M-F before 5pm. Kudos!
To my untrained ears, can't really tell if the engine note in your video indicate a "rough idle." But I will do my best to pay attention to the PCV valve. Thank you dear Phillips Vision!
I have a 2010 Ford Escape with the 3.0 v6 and I suspect mine is plugged but it is located behind the motor facing the firewall. Is there a smart way of getting to it without taking part of the motor apart?
Great video. I suggest just replacing it, it’s relatively cheap part you can buy from local stores if you can remove and install by yourself. If you can’t DIY, a garage may charge you $100-300 dollars for that small job.
Great vid. Question. I have a 78 Ford F100. It has a 300 4.9L and the PCV looks like the second one you cleaned but it has to intake holes. I replaced the old one because it would not stay in place and the new one does not stay in place as well, Any suggestions? It fits snug but after I drive it, it always dislodges from the hole. Thx!
I would check the hose and fittings that the PCV is inline with. It sounds like the hose/piping is blocked internally. The flow of crankcase vapors are not returning to the engine air intake. I strongly feel that your path from the PCV to the air intake is internally blocked. This restriction is causing the PCV to pop out from the grommet due to crankcase pressure. Replace the hose or fittings that is causing the blockage. Hope this helps!
Thanks… great video. I think i might just replace mine.. How long do these valves last? My car has 120k miles and would you consider this a maintenance at a certain milage, or regular. My service manual does not mention it…
In book says be very careful when removing pcv valve not to lose o-ring! I watched both of ur videos for removing & cleaning them & u say nothing about it & I don’t see one in videos or on 1999 Pontiac Firebird 3.8 liter v6. Does it not have one?
The PCV valve on my 2014 Honda Accord(2.4 4 cyl.) has no valve in it. You can blow either way through it with no pressure. No hose hooked to it. Just mounts to the valve cover. How does this thing even work. BTW, a new one costs almost 50 dollars!
I was wondering how the kind that have no moving part inside does anything! Any "valve" opens/closes. I understand how the bigger one with the "rattler" inside can do its job,, but the other....I don't get it.
Thanks for reminding me how simple yet important it is to service my PCV valve.
love how you showed the different types/ areas of multiple vehicles. very helpful

@@tasjawood9401 Thx
I have a Sudden rough idle like a vacuum leak the PCV valve does look like sludge when I remove oil filler cap air blows out of the valve cover.
I was gonna say for just in case! I will listen and learn and do thank you!
I Socked my pvc valve in Vinegar over night and it's fully cleaned 👌
Soak it in toilet bowl cleaner for 15 minutes. Then find a way to use compressed air to clean it and dry it.
Thank you very much . Very helpful.
I used brakekleen and for old 86 Samurai I soaked it 12 hours in vinegar then used brakekleen on it.
Thanx for the help much appreciated

5:11pm est how to know if problem is egr or pcv valve on Mitsubishi Galant 2.4l
Would an ultrasonic cleaner work?

Andy, please, I have a chevy cobalt that is built in how do i clean?
@@eyeonart6865 I don’t believe your car has a PCV valve

It should fit tightly and have a rubber gasket around it. The rubber piece might be worn, causing it not to be tight. You can replace those

Can it cause shot off oil but not smoking

I would check/clean it at each oil change. If you do this it should last long. If not I would replace it around 35k miles.
Your car's owner's manual will give the replacement interval.
Where is a pvc valve located on a 2007 Nissan Murano 3.5?
They are normally located on or around the valve cover
Thanks
I change my pcv valve every year along with my air/fuel filters
Wouldn't a v-6 have two of these, one for each valve cover?
@@ofcbob6391 No, just one. Even my 5.3 V8 only has one

They all have an O-Ring seal
Do you get a lot of headaches or sweats not wearing gloves?
I like to hold my finger over one of the holes and fill it up with cleaner and shake it for a little while then let it drain out and maybe air dry it
Hi, how or what cleaner we can use to clean the vent hose? I will replace the pcv valve, but I think the hose must be gross. Thanks man.
Use carb cleaner or CRC Throttle Body cleaner
Be careful with carb cleaner. It will swell and and/or destroy rubber gaskets. Don't ask me how I know...

i thought pcv valve should not be cleaned to avoid malfunctioning
@@maureen2828 if you don’t clean it, it will get sludge build up causing it to stick open or closed.
If you soak it in the toilet bowl cleaner for 15 or 20 minutes it will clean it.
No offense bro but, just because it rattles does not mean it works.
