That is the reason why I love my shitty motorized bicycle. It only does like 35 mph maybe 40 if there an exhaust leak (the thing goes through gaskets like nobody business) it's not fast but because of that you are always on the bleeding edge of performance, wide open 24/7 braking as late as you can etc, just to keep up with someone going a bit fast on the parking lot. You can do all those things and still not be breaking the speed limit.
You'll get a surprise alright trying to stop in damp conditions with those shitty little wheels and the lack of centrifugal force when cranked over. Keep your Groms.
Done a little riding on a friend's Honda Metro, and I agree. That little thing makes 35 mph feel pretty damn fast - especially when you're relying on its tiny drum brakes to haul it down from that speed! Also, I drive a 1.6L Miata - which goes with this philosophy in four-wheeled form.
Why is there so many negative comments about the grom? This style of bike is used in many countries to get around town and not get stuck in traffic. Also these are great platforms to stunt on because they're relatively cheap and easy to work on.
Cosmonauteable i agree, the grom is a cool bike. the starting price doesn't seem high for a motorcycle in general, but for how much bike you get, its not cheap.
Mind Faq pitbikes don't have a headlight, tail light, turn signals, horn, or instrumentation. Thanks to those parts missing though, they're lighter and cheaper.
One point to add to the GROM is mod's. It's the perfect bike to learn how to wrench and do it yourself. Add a pipe, tuner, new bars and then go big with a performance cam... Bump into the rev limiter at 70+mph.
Sure but I don't want to spend 4k+ just to burn my engine out in 1/3rd the time. That's why I wish they would increase the fuel tank by a half gallon and then somehow work some black magic to cram the rebel 300 engine into it from factory. Maybe take that opportunity with the extra power to convert from chain drive to belt drive that way people buying it have else maintenance to do. Less nasty greasy cleaning. It would really be a much better bike if it was just twice as big of engine side and the rebel 300 engine is barely over double the displacement. It's a visually much bigger engine so idk if it would fit, would be tough, but it would turn this 125 into a rocket
I agree with wanting to be tapped out, that's why I ride a CB500, when I get off I feel like I have ridden, my 1000cc and 175bhp bikes just felt frustrating for the road. Better to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow. Fun video, thanks

I enjoyed your review. I've been riding a 1 litre bike for most of my life and I was thinking that I would regret my 2022 Grom purchase. Thx for the reassurance.
My first bike was a 1975 Honda CB125S. I'm sure the speedometer was less accurate than the Grom's is, but I'd see 65 mph if I tucked down under the paint. It would also get 75 mpg even if I wrung it out on the Palisades Parkway. That was 150 miles on like $1.50, and $12 per year for insurance in New Jersey (Scheisswetter means shorter riding season, plus there were better car drivers here back then).
No, it's not just fewer cagers. The quality of drivers has really gone down in the last 35 years in this area of the country. People used to signal lane changes and turn into the first lane back then, even though the average car was bigger. Now it's damn near third world.
These videos are great, I sure look forward to the next ones. The footage makes you feel like you're there and the narration makes it informative and fun. About the bike - the first time somebody told me about one and I googled it, all of us in the office laughed at how funny it looks with a grown up riding it, but after seeing videos and how much fun everyone has and how much everyone loves them, I think it's a great idea and I think they will become really widespread in the states and become a classic. I just might end up getting one, but it's kind of a tough sell versus a used bike for the same price that can manage to go 75mph when needed.
This engine if I'm not mistaken is the same in XRM's in the Philippines, which is very smooth and bulletproof. My relative has one and has almost 100k kms 11 years old and still going strong.
I got one of these. Had a 1200 Suzuki Bandit, then to a new 650 Kawasaki and then onto a 125 Grom!!!! Every commute i do now is fun on the little thing. Everyone from garage attendants to car drivers to neighbours to fellow 125 riders like it. Absurd little machine costs nothing to run or tax, can get a way with the most cheeky of maneuvers, and cornering on little 12" wheels is truly terrrifying! All adds up to a neat little package straight out the box that is fun for new riders and experienced alike.
Hi Zack, Your comments you expressed about the Grom are many of the thoughts I had when buying my 201 CTX700N. The crazy thing is that the CTX cost just a couple bucks more than the Grom! I also concluded that the 2014 CTX700N costs just a few dollars more than the Sears Moped that I wanted to buy in 1962. I dont think they would. Kinda defeats the purpose of the grom. Its whole deal is just how tiny it is. If people wanted a 250 "sport style" bike they could get a 250 ninja. Or a 250 enduro because everyone makes a 250 enduro.

Siper2 Scooter haters just have fragile egos. Once you see how nimble, practical and economical they are, it must makes sense to always have one in your stable. Sorry man I just can’t agree with you, I rode one (because idc what anyone thinks) and wanted to test drive to compare between the grom ended up choosing the grom. The grom is still more nimble and portable you could say for around town.
@@TKO-1503 I haven't ridden a Grom but they're very entertaining. More nimble I'm sure, but for city riding or short commutes, I'd give the nod to a scooter. That's a tiny bike, tinier than commuter bikes in India, and most bikes here have 5 speeds. Honda launched a 100cc model called Navi here in India which looks like this, but it has a CVT gearbox. And that's the quirkiest looking (in a cool comical way) bike in all of Indian roads.
Hi Zack, i have the 2016 Grom, its my main commuter bike, to work, etc....i did finally get a sprocket change so that i can take off quicker, which means i can now lane filter...i was told that i wouldnt be able to go as fast as what i could. Not sure what happened there, but i can still get my Grom up to 107 klms !! Which i reckon is pretty amazing!! Anyways keep up the great work...!!
I agree with alot of what you are saying. The Grom is a fun little bike. I would like to see it with just a little more. Bigger wheels, bigger motor and gearing for better speeds. Grom 2.0!!! Nice review. All your reviews are good.
I'm 6'2, 250. On a diet and goal is 215. Would I be fine with a z125 or Grom? I want to use it for commute only. My route doesn't have a freeway, but a 45mph road, which I think this would be perfect!
Get a loan why would you pay cash fpr it when you can only pay a little amount at a time but also i got my grom for 2400 dealership had a clearance sale lol
Hey Zack, can you make a review video about your one piece riding suite that you are in most video? love to hear your input on it as daily commute in SoCal
That sentra is the EXACT same one I have. 2006 same color and everything. It was also the car that Liam Niesen's character drove in the movie 'Taken'. Anyway, that grom looks SO fun to ride. Just wish the wheels were a little bit bigger and they had a little bit faster top speed.
It does kinda make sense for a bike racer to have a way slow yet reliable bike for the street. Because he can still ride the machine at it's limits without breaking the local laws.
I think i have just enough space in my garage for one of this. my wife said I don't need any more bike since I own 3 as is now. maybe I can tell her it's a scooter lol. awesome video my brother, and ride safe.
I was surprised the first time I saw a Grom in person, they are so much larger than I expected. Just barely smaller than the Honda 300 that was next to it. But I like the Z-125 better just my opinion. If only the Grom was slimmer, had a flat comfy seat and a few other things.
First person to have the same thoughts as me re riding the scooter Aprillia sr50 90km/hr max... as its an absolute blast at full throttle everywhere... and having a bigger honda 919 ... why not have fun .. i really want a grom... well see. Safe riding. 😃
I looked at a Grom and scooters. Went with a used Kawasaki Eliminator 125. 1500 miles on the odometer for $1500. Thinking of getting a smaller rear sprocket but I drop down from 60 to 55 mph on the hills.
Benedict Benjo If you're gonna go small displacement, you might as well go with a bike that's lighter in overall weight, too. Then you can wring a little more out of a small engine. I would take a Grom over a 125 Eliminator.
Zack, Thanks for the fun commute reviews. Very enjoyable. Question on the equipment - what camera do you use, how is it mounted and how do you capture the quality audio. Say hi to Ari. Thanks.
The engine is basically the same as the old Honda Cub. Little bigger CC. But was also a 4spd. Honda sold 60 million Cubs... Probably 5 times that made by Chinese copies. And every pit bike made uses the same basic design.. Cause it's good.. and reliable.
He's right tho, with the standard exhaust they're so muted it's too quiet and unexciting an exhaust note, trouble is that they run very lean as standard, so fitting a straight thru pipe like a Yoshi doesn't do the engine any favours so you need to spend that much again on a Power Commander Fuel controller to richen it up. Starts to get very expensive!
You know, I don't understand why these bikes are as slow as they are. I'm currently in the market for some old enduros and every time I test ride a 125 (yes I mean 4 strokes I understand that 2 isn't a fair fight). I have no problem squeezing 80 mph out of them and would have much less trouble putting one on the freeway than a Grom or a kz125 or a VanVan. Friend of mine even has a 110cc Honda scooter I'd rather put on the freeway. Of course, on that note I think that old Honda is a little faster than any of the 150cc scooters I occasionally get my hands on. At least I understand why an extreme low budget Chinese model, like a TaoTao wouldn't be up to snuff with a Japanese model that was made for a serious purpose.
I went into Kawasaki a couple of years ago to check out their little 125, I ended up buying a deeply discounted ZX10R 30th anniversary in green. Thousands off MRSP. Now that that loan is wrapping up I'm thinking about the Honda Monkey next spring. I know they will ask full price and the same thing might happen like a big discount on a Honda Africa Twin.
i need a GROM in my life, for science, shits and giggles. 😎 Where's that MC Commute on the MT-10 with Avocado Wheels and shiny Primer ? 😂 Nah, seriously, do one on it, please ?👏
If I was riding that Grommy, I think I'd get bored - or pissed off - at some point. I rode a Yamaha YBR 125 here in Brazil a couple times and it was incredible how slow it was to accelerate and that I couldn't do anything over 70mph. But you, Zack, somehow, made it look fun to ride that little thing! Thanks for the great video!

So I'm 15 thinking of getting a grom as my first bike for many reasons, but I am wondering so I am used to riding bicycles which are light, how hard is it to balance/ride a grom weight wise
@@kleinbottled79 I do ride on the street, and I know how to read traffic, and law's and all that, I've known about all that since I was about 11-12 years old. But yeah I was just hoping the weight wouldn't seem as heavy as it says.

Siper2 lol almost got the big ruckus myself found for sale in California a few hours away from me. But after scooting for a long time decided to get a little sister to my Honda cb500 . How ever the PCX150 is still a great commuter hands down idc what anyone says they’re awesome.
John Miller Yep sounds like a grom would be good for you. I ride it work and I’ve got a 55 mph section of road and it does fine
If the grom is cool now will my 79 garelli moped be acceptable too?
Mopeds are fun too !! I ride them all the time when i go to florida i rent one and even a 49cc moped is hella fun
I love Zach's engine sound effects 😂
I love my little grom, and yeah it really is the perfect bike to learn on assuming you don't have to go on the freeway.
The problem with the grom is the $3500 price tag. No sale.
Jim Beam $3500 is nothing
Get a loan why would you pay cash fpr it when you can only pay a little amount at a time but also i got my grom for 2400 dealership had a clearance sale lol
This is almost my exact commute...from Newport heights and I go left at Valley Oak. University is way more fun than the 405. Enjoy your videos.
looks fun. frosty morning 40deg. that is our summer in the UK man.
Hey Zack, can you make a review video about your one piece riding suite that you are in most video? love to hear your input on it as daily commute in SoCal
almost got a grom but my dealer had a sweet deal on the cbr300r! :-)
ram1 Unless you absolutely have to go on the highway for more than 12 miles each way I would've gotten a grom!
In California the Grom's engine displacement isn't large enough to be legal on the freeways.
Mal Reynolds But I don't like vaginas and I have money to burn so this is perfect. Thanks for the tip Mal.
Mal Reynolds 1 year and counting. Still not bored.....
What's wrong with pizza pockets and xbox?
i liked this video even before watching it...i mean come on, zack commuting on the new grom... genius!
I had a "71" SL125 I could go 55(back when the speed limit was 55) sitting up laying over the gas tank could get it to 60 it was fun.
Good job Zack, another great review, thanks!
For the price of Grom, I bought myself a used like new 10' Kawasaki Z1000 with low miles. I think I made the right decision.
I subscribed just because of the sound effects. Not kidding
Zac I love your riding style! Great video's, ofcourse the panigale v4 video was one that made my heart beat go up a bit😜
He’s the king of SERIOUS
I looked at a Grom and scooters. Went with a used Kawasaki Eliminator 125. 1500 miles on the odometer for $1500. Thinking of getting a smaller rear sprocket but I drop down from 60 to 55 mph on the hills.
Benedict Benjo If you're gonna go small displacement, you might as well go with a bike that's lighter in overall weight, too. Then you can wring a little more out of a small engine. I would take a Grom over a 125 Eliminator.
Honda Grom: Too delicious.
You heard it here first.
I just got my own honda grom and riding with grom really cool 👍 Am glad I choose grom 😍
This is the greatest bike for CBD commuting. No more scooters, we have the all mighty Grom!
I have to admit I got pissed as I watched this commute... you have nicer things to say about that POS then any cruiser I've seen you commute on.
Zack, Thanks for the fun commute reviews. Very enjoyable. Question on the equipment - what camera do you use, how is it mounted and how do you capture the quality audio. Say hi to Ari.
Thanks.
Hey the grom is all about the flickability!
3:52 nice throttle blipping there @Zack
Appreciate the top speed mention, thought it would do better where I had a Honda XL 75 that would do that.
Awesome video, you seem like a really nice guy! I hope to get my grom very soon. :)
The engine is basically the same as the old Honda Cub. Little bigger CC. But was also a 4spd. Honda sold 60 million Cubs... Probably 5 times that made by Chinese copies.
And every pit bike made uses the same basic design..
Cause it's good.. and reliable.
One of the funnest cars I've driven, 1994 geo metro, just felt like a little go kart on The road, even raced a dodge viper and tragically lost🤣🤣
Sounds like a generator lol
Sounds like a generator lol. These are my favorite moto vlogs.
Thank god! Finally someone who actually knows about bikes and isn't a young moto vlog douche nozzle. I will click on every ad I see lol
These little bikes are really fun, just not very practical for my situation unfortunately. Would love to see a commute on a Ninja H2!
Where's that MC Commute on the MT-10 with Avocado Wheels and shiny Primer ? 😂
Nah, seriously, do one on it, please ?👏
ah this was the funniest review, LOVE IT
Wow great video next year I’m buy one 😎🤟
If I was riding that Grommy, I think I'd get bored - or pissed off - at some point. I rode a Yamaha YBR 125 here in Brazil a couple times and it was incredible how slow it was to accelerate and that I couldn't do anything over 70mph. But you, Zack, somehow, made it look fun to ride that little thing! Thanks for the great video!
love all your Videos and keep up all the good work:-) by any chance do you think you can get your hands on the new ninja 650??? I hope so but anyway much love and respect bro
Cool vid/review. I'm 6'1 1/2 & im considering getting the grom for my 10 mile commute to work here in NYC. How tall are u & how comfortable would I be riding on such a small bike? It would also be my 1st bike ever & riding ever.
Brilliant fun, I've seen 68 on the clock, makes a great second bike or commuter
So I'm 15 thinking of getting a grom as my first bike for many reasons, but I am wondering so I am used to riding bicycles which are light, how hard is it to balance/ride a grom weight wise
@@kleinbottled79 I do ride on the street, and I know how to read traffic, and law's and all that, I've known about all that since I was about 11-12 years old. But yeah I was just hoping the weight wouldn't seem as heavy as it says.
@@kleinbottled79 Oh no I know what you mean, I know, just like everything in this world, it evolves and changes, you will never know what exactly someone on the road is going to do. You can only make a guess, and hope your right, it's very important to watch your surrounding always, especially when slowing down, stopping at a light or stop sign, cause just because you noticed the lights red doesn't mean the person behind you noticed. I've gotten hit a few times from cars that weren't paying attention just riding my bike on the road, also happened when I was riding dirtbikes with my friend. You really just have to pay attention and be ready for the worst.
Ohh yeahh!! Thank youu :) Love it at 12:18.... :D :D Is it just me but clutchless up and down was a bit tricky on that little sucker?
No commute since the Grom, has he finally found his perfect dream bike???
Is it legal where you live to drive between cars like that at a stop light?
Yes, it is legal to lane filter in California, which is where Zack lives.
i really want to ride one but can a 6ft2 guy ride this bike?
phil tripe Lmao get a dirtbike style handlebar and some risers along with a bigger seat with gel inserts and cruise in comfort. Size isn't stopping you from riding a grom.
It hurts. Trust me.
It's not a big motorcycle, just a groovy little motorbike.
