I’ll be 50 next month! I took the state safety course and got my mc license with my youngest son. Buying the blue raspberry 2019 Grom tomorrow. I’m 5’2” and 118 lbs. It fits me perfect!!
Liability insurance? Haha with a bike like that if you hit someone all they will have to do is turn on their windshield wipers to scrape you off. Looks like a really fun bike
You can still scrape the paintwork... and if a bouncing stone can make a dent to a car door, I should think Grom would... Yes, it is a small bike but it's not a toy, no matter how much you would like to think so. It's simply a city bike, where even 600 cc engine would be an overkill: I can keep up with a 1000 cc bike with my Grom during rush hour traffic and spend a fraction of the money for gas! Better still, I can squeeze through narrower gaps at traffic lights with my little bike (it's almost as narrow as a bicycle) to get near the front and leave you standing at the back of a 100 yard queue. In my town lanes are not particularly wide and cars may well drive between two lanes so lane splitting does not get you far. The average speed is about 20mph an hour on a quiet day: I have never been able to test how fast the bike can go - so riding anything much over 125cc bike is just stupid.
Pass many 18 wheelers on it? Sometimes it can be difficult to see a "normal" size bike beside my rig..... let's take that......AND, shrink it👍. However, on the other side of the coin....it looks fun, something to kill some time on👍

Good review, the reason I even got into groms is because of fooligan. I love this thing I wish I would have bought one like 4 years ago lol. Nothing but pure fun when riding it. I just hit 2000 miles last weekend, owned it since October.
Great review. Really the point everyone has to understand is what is the purpose of buying a low cc bike. I got my 2017 grom brand new, a few months ago and I absolutely love it. I've not owned a bike before I bought my grom but I've experience riding 600cc sport bikes and 1200cc cruisers. And to be honest I was not looking for power, I was looking for something to get my mind off work and life in general. Many people told to get at least a 500-600 cc bike and that I would be bored fast with 125ccs. But I haven't got bored with it. I love the fact that I take it anywhere and not get in trouble with the cops lol. Groms are fun when you really love it and understand it is not all about power in a tiny bike.
Presley Daniel thanks! I agree, I think that people just need to understand what they are getting with the Grom rather than thinking it's something that it's not. If you accept it for a low cc fun bike, then you'll love it everyday
My son found a 2018 Grom at a garage sale for $500... Neglected, left outside, He replaced the fuel pump. Cleaned the tank with acid and gravel. Rewired all the after market lighting. and WOW! I find it to be a blast! And, I own a 2015 Honda VT1300CT Interstate! SON just bought a HONDA NAVI for his wife. I added a 2008 KYMCO People 200 to my collection so we can go out on country roads together. (I'm 72)
I got mine new for under 4K. I also paid it in full. I also get 115 MPG on mine. So far I have paid for 1/8 of the bike in just gas saving vs driving my 03 ranger.
I just bought a 2018 Grom and dumped it with 3 miles on it. Honda did a good job with bars and passenger pegs sticking out farther than everything else. no fairing scrapes just bar scrapes

LMAO trust me, going from a 1970 Chevy K20 and driving 60 miles total for a daily work drive (To and from added up), you do save enough money that makes the grom's gas mileage amazing. Imagine spending about $40 every two days on gas, versus $2 a week. Big difference. I work 4 days a week, so a total of $80 a week in my K20.
I put that many miles on my Radpower electric bike a year and go many miles off road too. And I have had it since 2015 with no problems. Maybe a death sentence if they have no training and immediately try to start riding in areas acting like they are experienced. However, that would go for anything on the street, regardless of the cc. With proper training classes and discipline though a 650 class (such as FZ-07) is a great beginners bike. It’s what I started on.

I have no interest in a fast motorcycle. I want something so drive around on april-october that will cost me almost nothing after the initial purchase. I am debating between a ruckus or a grom. I do like the fact that with the ruckus i dont need a motorcycle license for it.
I picked up a 2017 Sport model brand new in March for $2500. I paid cash. It was transferred to my local Honda dealer for free from a Honda dealer 200 miles away. I've only been riding it for about a month solid and I love this bike, but I'm also 5'6" 180lbs and don't travel outside of my city much.
DM Bellum yes. With cars, you are allowed to swap to another engine the car was born with. But then you have to pay the (insanely high) registration fee on the "new identity" of the car, even if the car was already registered
I am surprised that is the case, or more so the rest of the EU haven't taken to this. in England you can pretty much mod as you please with a bike and and not a lot happens in regards of insurance. Where as cars. anything other than a cut and shut and the only thing you risk is taking your insurance through the roof! How would it play out if you "bought it like that and thought its how it should be" we talking points, slap or time inside? because TBH i think thats what i would try do haha!
For me: This is a great review. It's real and it is coming from the perspective of a user. And to him, I want to say thanks! I stopped at roughly 8.5 mins which is much longer than I usually watch a video yet the person posting kept me involved. I will go with the Genuine Hooligan. But again, a really great and appreciated post.
Finally a good review of ANYTHING! Everyone talks about the features of the bike, and the overall fun they have, but no one ever goes into detail like insurance, maintenance, reliability, as well as controls for those who don't know how to ride a bike. $6 a month is like a fucking Spotify Premium subscription, and I know it'll vary depending on the person, especially for new riders, but at least people can have a tiny bit of what to expect for insurance cost... I pretty much wanted a Grom just to thrash around without worrying about destroying a bike, or not being able to recover/pick it up fairly easy.
im 6'2 245 and got mine coming in the next 60 days. im so very excited! mines a 2020 with 0 miles. big anthony! your vids have helped me out and have been kind of an introductory course to street bikes for me, as this is my first.
c0c0asauce I'm not going to deny that. Living in Idaho is much different from the rest of the country and theft isn't a huge problem. But I do always have my motorcycles within my sight. Otherwise I drive the car
ALLDAYANTHONY Fair enough. Only a couple places like that where I live but the thought stresses me out too much lol. I have an old but heavily modified Honda CL70. I built it but I wouldn't want to replicate it.
I have a 2017 Msx125 from new.Ok,I have being racing/riding for over thirty years.Ok,so the Grom has little Horsepower, but man the fun factor is full on.Mods,Polish and more Mods, its endless fun to see people look at my Grom and say,'Oh Wow,I love that little bike man"..They are fun,if you want fast, buy the 1000cc..and pay for it...Go fun,Go Grom.
Your 1st bike should not be a 600... Your first bike should be a minibike ridden on dirt. Then go up from there like smart people..and like most of us who learned how to ride when we were kids.. Going from never riding to jumping on a 600cc is a deathwish
@@thegreatwhitenorth8754 a 600 bike isn't jack shit fool. At the very least I'd say start with a 500 or 550 but if you're really hitting roads you want the 600. Both small bikes not much larger than a dirtbike. Tf you on.
@@thegreatwhitenorth8754 i literally did that. I had a baja warrior 212cc that i drove in dirt for a year. Then bought a cheap gy6 150cc moped for $30 then got it running. I drove that in the dirt and topped that moped off at 65mph. But now my true 1st bike is a yzf600r. It really does help having a little experience throttle and respect wise
I'm 4'10 in height and I'm looking to learn how to ride. I'm very small and petite so I'd like get one of these to learn. I'm not tall enough to ride a real one lol
In UK you cannot drive a bigger bike than 125cc even after you have passed a test; for people under 19 (I think) there is a category A2 driving test that limits you to drive bikes up to 500 cc and only "proper adults" are allowed to drive 600cc + bikes after passing category A test... So the power of Grom is maximum you can drive anyway before taking a test, regardless how old you are. I still wouldn't get Grom as a first bike simply because the transition to proper sized bikes may feel daunting and take time to adjust. Even jumping from 125cc semi-automatic Suzuki Viva (in Asia: lower seat and feels more like a bicycle) to more modern Suzuki 250cc feels a little bit of a jump. Having said that, I will buy either Honda Grom or Kawasaki Z 125cc because I never got round taking a test and here in Cambodia it's the biggest bike I can drive without a licence - those two bikes are the only options of fully manual bikes for a reason. Congestion is a big problem in many cities and gear change every couple of minutes, sometimes in less than a minute is a pain when you have to have your wits about: bikes and sometimes even cars can literally come from all directions (including against the traffic on the wrong side of the road) and following traffic laws and stopping at traffic lights is optional. Grom seems like a perfect bike for a city, especially if you are short like me.... But I still beat motorbikes to the front of the queue most of the time because I can squeeze through narrow gaps with my bicycle that any any other bike. Of course the motorbikes will soon drive past me but I will catch them again at the next traffic lights.
Claptrap Claptrap sounds like you have democrats running things there ! they love to tell you how to live w d how much you should eat and drinks and what to drive
I saw one on the road today in Japan. Black with gold wheels/trim. Love it. So I am here. I already have two bikes, but I guess it's too late now. It is gonna become three.
I don’t want a motorcycle to go fast. I want one to have a lot of fun with, and many other reasons. The grom will be perfect for me. If only my mom would let me get a motorcycle
Thanks for this video. I just saw my friend rocking up with one of these and have never seen this before and now this has become a bike I want to get, even if it is my first bike. I might consider getting it second hand though. I don't know much about bikes, but I love the idea of having it as a commuter, perfect for what I would use it for. Greetings from South Africa!
Hi mate - just wondering whether you got a Grom in the end? Am looking to get into biking and have considered everything from Suzuki’s TU250x via a selection of Royal Enfields and my dream bike of a Gen2 Hayabusa…but in reality living in the city I have no need for high speed machines especially with all the speed cameras, and as for track days I’ve seen folks take this around as well as race them - so just thinking how you got on. It’ll be the only bike I ever own, dont plan on buying and selling - getting too old for all that stuff, as will be the need for speed…am at that age where I now enjoy the original 60s Mini than a modern Hypercar if that makes sense lol
Thank you so much for making this video and explaining this bike before watching this I already had my mind made up that I was going to get one now I feel like I know what I'm going to get with a Grom thank you sir
you say financing it is a bad idea but that isnt always true. If you plan to upgrade to a bigger bike later or are younge then financing it is good to help build up your credit.
Hey man, I'm a 6"5' tall guy 75 - 80kg, looking to buy a first bike, I was looking at taller bikes in the lower cc range ( because I live in Australia, and there are size limits for learners ). But then I realized throughout my time searching through the internet I have found that most people get bored of the lower cc bikes extremely quickly, this led me to the Grom, as it is something I believe I would personally never get bored of, and if I were to then get a 'bigger' bike I would most definitely keep the Grom regardless. Oh, and I live in a small town, so I don't need any speed. I was just wondering how cramped I would be on this cute little beast, I'm fairly flexible and won't mind uncomfortable riding positions. I just need someone to shed some light on my situation and you seemed like a fairly knowledgable individual And thanks for making an in-depth review to help everyone.
@@LeQuaccAttacc Ok, I understand your high insurance. Your bike is on the blacklist, It's of course much too expensive, but you cant compare the price with a Honda grom...
@@martinquinn3382 When I started out with my M1 Which is our learner license on a CBR300R is was almost 4500. Granted this guy probably has years of driving history with little to no accidents and at the time I was in one of the highest risk classes being a young male on a sport bike.
I live in vancouver. And our insurance is such a joke.. I have a 1995 honda accord. And i still have to pay almost $200 a month for insurance alone... AND i have a 45% discount!!!
I've been riding for 3 years. I had my first ride on a 125cc dirt bike when I was 8 years old. I own a Suzuki Gw250 and a Yamaha FZ6R and although I have lots of fun,I want a Grom....
Someone did a hit and run on me and broke my 50cc moped so I was looking at waiting 2 months till I can get a Grom as they aren’t too fast for a 125 just unsure about the cost. Where I am from the speed limit is only 40mph so a 125cc is the max you really need
So I see these are barely over 220 lbs... Any worry about someone just taking the whole bike from a parking lot? Any security devices to stop that from happening?
ask your employer to park indoors or right next to the building, 2 people can pick these bikes up and toss into a trunk, there is nothing you can buy to prevent a thief
perfect for that. i live and work out of a motorhome that gets 5-6 mpg, and will be mounting a honda scooter to the front soon. probably going for this one!
@@irnomo9784 Just picked it up from the dealership yesterday man its so fun handle bars are kinda crap so I ordered protaper bars today but super fun has really good gas mileage and is fun to drive in the rain. :)
In terms of aftermarket fun, the Grom is to motorcycles what the Honda Metropolitan is to scooters. Just silly shenanigans and so many smiles per gallon. 😁

I don't know why you're not being waved at. Here in Shreveport Louisiana, while may not be the best city by any means, everyone on any kind of bike waves to one another. Rather it's a scooter, maxi-scooter, cruiser, street bike, sportbike, trike, etc.

Plain and simple: It's a Honda. You can beat any Honda down to the ground and it'll still run strong.
can't wait to get mine!
cale saurage it's gonna be a good time! You just gotta send it
cale saurage ayyy im subbed to u
DAAMN BABY
For me: This is a great review. It's real and it is coming from the perspective of a user. And to him, I want to say thanks! I stopped at roughly 8.5 mins which is much longer than I usually watch a video yet the person posting kept me involved. I will go with the Genuine Hooligan. But again, a really great and appreciated post.
Cj Simmons thanks Cody!
hi i'm new in you're channel and i'm from the Philippines... i really really wish i have that grom :D thanks for the review god bless
Spent $3,600 myself and did not have this amount of heartburn about it. I love the bike and feel it’s worth it.
I’m getting a Grom as my first bike I love the groms
Finally a good review of ANYTHING! Everyone talks about the features of the bike, and the overall fun they have, but no one ever goes into detail like insurance, maintenance, reliability, as well as controls for those who don't know how to ride a bike. $6 a month is like a fucking Spotify Premium subscription, and I know it'll vary depending on the person, especially for new riders, but at least people can have a tiny bit of what to expect for insurance cost... I pretty much wanted a Grom just to thrash around without worrying about destroying a bike, or not being able to recover/pick it up fairly easy.
Imagine if they did a full-fairing Grom Type RR lmao
That would be pretty cool .
aprilia has 125cc full fairing bike
im 6'2 245 and got mine coming in the next 60 days. im so very excited! mines a 2020 with 0 miles.
big anthony! your vids have helped me out and have been kind of an introductory course to street bikes for me, as this is my first.
Just got mine a few days ago! How are you liking it so far?
@@smoggle2864 love it! ive not had a chance to ride it as often til last week. youll love yours too, guaranteed.
I would want comprehensive coverage on a motorcycle one person can carry off.
c0c0asauce I'm not going to deny that.
Get a bike lock that weighs as much as the bike lol
I have a 2017 Msx125 from new.Ok,I have being racing/riding for over thirty years.Ok,so the Grom has little Horsepower, but man the fun factor is full on.Mods,Polish and more Mods, its endless fun to see people look at my Grom and say,'Oh Wow,I love that little bike man"..They are fun,if you want fast, buy the 1000cc..and pay for it...Go fun,Go Grom.
Thank you so much for the information bro. Imm bout to buy one with 5k miles
Just got mine. 2013. 6'1" 300lb. I love it!!
I just got a 2018 grom and i love it already, check it out on my channel ! im 230lbs
Two tips for your first bike:
-Buy used
-600cc
That’s what I did. Now I want my bike and a grom.
It really does help having a little experience throttle and respect wise
have been looking into groms and this review was perfect👏🏼👏🏼 thanks man!!
Holy shit, I knew exactly where you were after you went around that roundabout. I don't think I've ever seen anyone online from where I live lol
Absolutely incredible review I am so happy I found your channel
I'm 4'10 in height and I'm looking to learn how to ride. I'm very small and petite so I'd like get one of these to learn. I'm not tall enough to ride a real one lol
Get yourself one 😊
Get yourself one 😊
you're gonna be mush when you fall if you have no gear or muscle. make a video, it will get a lot of hits
buy a Honda ruckus there more fun no shifting
Good luck riding at night at a size that small, hopefully you dont end up dead. 🙏🏽
Yeah, that parking lot is nice for light - and it smells great there. And cruising the roundabout on Pine is fun. Glad you are liking the Grom.
it always smells great there lol
When your 16 you can ride a 50cc when your 17 you can ride a 125
I saw one on the road today in Japan. Black with gold wheels/trim. Love it. So I am here. I already have two bikes, but I guess it's too late now. It is gonna become three.
I’m a “kid” looking at a first bike so thanks for that lil bit on basics. Much appreciated. 😂👌
Karen Woolley your boy friend looks like that one twilight actor
I got mine half price off with 9000kms on it and a few extras (at the Honda official dealership) gonna go get it tomorrow
I don’t want a motorcycle to go fast. I want one to have a lot of fun with, and many other reasons. The grom will be perfect for me. If only my mom would let me get a motorcycle
Luis Nicolas Rivas work for it
Thanks for this video.
Man, this was a great review. Really in depth and informative!
To finance a grom up here in vancouver is $18 a week lol
I just need someone to shed some light on my situation and you seemed like a fairly knowledgable individual
And thanks for making an in-depth review to help everyone.
Phil M
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and I don't mind looking goofy as hell as I love bringing smiles to other people's faces.
This dudes here paying 75 a year for insurance and im over here paying 3900 in down town Toronto and im the same age. Feels bad man
$3900 ?? Do you ride a NINJA H2R ? :)
@@martinquinn3382 Nope I ride a ZX-14R and a Night Rod for fun cruising
Migs 457 the Grom should be plenty for you. But I'm sorry to hear about the accident!
ALLDAYANTHONY cheers mate
Migs 457 where are you from
Rasmus Kuusela Jersey in the channel islands between England and France
my cousin hit 65 on it
Groms really are the best aren't they. Love mine, after owning so many bikes. All I can say is it just has that fun factor.
AutoHaven they absolutely are! Silly stupid fun all day long :)
dude, thanks for the review, helped me find its not me in my current situation, but what skid lid and microphone system do you use, it seems very good
thanks for all the info, been looking to pull the trigger on one of these for awhile. you sold me.
Unless your driving a monster truck... Looks at my Land Rover disco that gets 11 mpg 😭
I got mine yesterday! 2018 with 1k miles for 2k. to do dumb grom stuff with buddies😂 and so far I love it!
So I see these are barely over 220 lbs... Any worry about someone just taking the whole bike from a parking lot? Any security devices to stop that from happening?
Jasonxhx , you can put a tracking device on it.
Cable lock to a pole?
Jasonxhx same concern :/
Plus they attract a lot of attention it seems
ask your employer to park indoors or right next to the building, 2 people can pick these bikes up and toss into a trunk, there is nothing you can buy to prevent a thief
@@vincentshelpfulhints4085 a chain lock?
This video was great! My brother just got this exact bike and I’m just learning but for sure getting one now💯
Your paying for Honda quality!! If taken care of that bike will run 100,000 miles easy
S/o from idaho, I'm in boise, nice work on the video, it was a fun watch!
Liability only was qouted at $45 a year for me, Which is INSANE. I pay $100 a month for my minivan!
I'm 58 and got one, such a blast for around the neighborhood. First good bike would be Honda 250 Rebal.
I really only need this bike to get to and from school going to friends house messing around with my friends and running errands.
perfect for that. i live and work out of a motorhome that gets 5-6 mpg, and will be mounting a honda scooter to the front soon. probably going for this one!

@@thegreatwhitenorth8754 haha no I love my grom its never stepping back on that showroom again
In terms of aftermarket fun, the Grom is to motorcycles what the Honda Metropolitan is to scooters. Just silly shenanigans and so many smiles per gallon. 😁
Its impossible to not be happy as fuck while on one.
I had someone get super pissed at me that i bought a grom instead of " other important shit".
I said if you knew how much fun it is youd never say that shit. Stupid people says stupid shit.
I put $600+ worth of aftermarket shit in my grom. The seat and tail lights with sequential mustang type turn signals.
I found one for 1500 dollars on craigslist I might buy it.
Suace X did you get it? They’re a blast
They sell new for like 2000 dollars over here
yeah I hope you picked that up. I never see them under 2k
Picked mine up last night, am 17 and got quoted 600$ liability for the year, no tickets or crashes.
3-4000 for a Honda bike new?? That’s greattttt!!!
after December I am going to a dealership and buying a cbr300r... hella excited after seeing this
Sounds like a plan!
It looks like kids bike. I would have loved it when I was 14
I would have been a happy kid if I had one at 14 lol
The Wild One I wish they had these in my days. I’m getting old 😞 lmao
It’s fun as hell far from a “kids” bike
This is an upgrade from my road bicycle when I'm lazy to go cycling.... hehehe.. Perfect daily for me from melt of snow to first snowfall
Haha right!

I don’t know if you’re going to see my comment, but thanks for making an instructive video like that ! Very cool video man ! continue your passion man.
PS: Hi from France
I’ve seen that exact same video of that guy in his garage at 2 in the morning 😂 Ik exactly what your talking about 😂😂😂😂
I don't know why you're not being waved at. Here in Shreveport Louisiana, while may not be the best city by any means, everyone on any kind of bike waves to one another. Rather it's a scooter, maxi-scooter, cruiser, street bike, sportbike, trike, etc.
It passed a Prius good enough for me. I''ll be back in 5 years.
I just stumbled across these videos and I want one these motor bikes it’s perfect for where I live
I am 12 years old and im waiting when i be 16years old and i will drive Honda Grom ❤❤❤❤

Good informative video man, just picked up a 2018 as a secondary (primary GSX-S1000).
Do you think it makes a good commuter bike? My round trip to work and home is 7.5-8 miles through the suburbs, max posted speed is 35.
100PercentLuck great commuter bike!!
awesome. You did a great review, one of the more informative ones I've seen. Thanks!
+100PercentLuck i've had Grom for over a year now and i love it! Definitely a great choice for a short commute! you will love it ;)
100PercentLuck what about city? I live in NYC and am looking into buying one
I drive my Ford fiesta St I go straight to the freeway and a young man in a yellow Grom turns left and takes city streets and I take a combo of freeway and city street I get to work about 30 seconds faster than him.
Excellent review, I'm trying to decide between this and the Van Van 200. Thank you for everything, super informative
Hey dude here in the uk you can only geta 125 until your 17 so i have this and and a r125 sport looking bike and this bike is so good i love i put 5k in 1 year
Rad awesome dude!
Rad we can get a 125 at the age of 16 from UK
I also have a yzfr-125, I've not really enjoyed riding it this last year, only use it for work and going out, haven't just been out on a ride for months, been really considering part exchanging it for a grom, I need something I can just piss around on and enjoy
Great video. Very informative. Looks like those bikes are Way Too Much Fun!!!! Im getting one. Thanks for putting this up.
