The open sides are also great for being able to CLEAN the thing!

I saw your video the day it came out & let me tell you.... Since the moment I finished watching it, I went into the shop to take care of this problem I had with a knife holder I made a few months back. I've been meaning to tell you since then lol... My dude, this tip (8:02) really came through & helped me with the knife set holder. It's a mitered walnut continuous grain on all 3 (visible) sides picture frame style knife holder. It's about 10.5" tall X 9.5" wide X 5" deep. I made 2 long blade width size slots on the top to hold the knifes. But the steak knives would just tilt out b/c of the long slot. So with this tip you mentioned, I went back to my offcuts & made (blade kerf thick) 1/8th inch thick "spacers" to keep/hold the knifes in place. This worked so perfectly. We now are able to properly use the knife block.
Thank you so much for the tips & tricks!

Making something from scraps is often harder than buying a ton of wood for a new project. I buy shorts and cut offs all the time from Woodwerks (c-bus shout out) and you can get stuff with a lot of "character"! Really beautiful knife block.....I really need to make one some day.

Nice! The leftover area looks right for the addition of a 6 - 7" cleaver.

Origami metal gear knives are fun looking. I love the thickness of the wood and combined with the hollow center. A balance between it being open and still having large presence. I’ve held myself back from buying the Benchmade steak knives but boy would they look great in your block design.

Nice knife block! In that configuration yo should store your knives blade side up to prevent sheath dulling.

I like this design. If I ever make a knife block I might even try it without the front or back panel. Would make a cool kinda cantilever look.

I do plan to start selling things this year :) I’m making things right now to start taking photos and put up on Etsy. But probably won’t start selling until beginning of summer
