Johnny did multiple prison concerts. The great Merle Haggard was an inmate at San Quentin when Johnny played there. He was inspired by Johnny to change his life and became a country music legend himself.

I'm sorry but, you're completely wrong. The song doesn't change - it's Folsom Prison Blues and doesn't change. Johnny did about 40 free prison concerts in his career and testified before Congress for prison reform. It was a social issue that he felt very strongly about.

J.C. was a rebel .. The lyrics weren't changed as far as I knew. Studio had the same and radio stations played the single w/the same lyrics. #COCAINE BLUES is a must for your next reaction.

Johnny was the man! He helped a lot of prison inmates, his past arrests endeared him to them.

I saw Johnny Cash when I was a young teen, in the 1960’s, on a stage that was circular and rotated while you watched. Down in the Bay Area, San Mateo I think, Ca. He was great! That deep voice, he had a lot of presence. Many bands played there. It was torn down unfortunately. I saw other bands there also, and you were seated, so it was just pure enjoyment. Good memories. Thanks for this, I definitely remember him singing this, probably one of his most requested songs. 🇺🇸

@@arjaylee Yes!! All the music I grew up hearing, the experiences, just gold memories now. The Bay Area, San Jose, Santa Cruz, Monterey, The Santa Cruz mountains, I mean what an explosion of music everywhere. What decades to grow up in musically. Add the surf into it? Wild! 😎🇺🇸
