Well I may one day be in the reverse situation first with a DIY handbrake that would be handy to connect to some Fanatec pedals but this is neat!

    • @boostedmedia
      @boostedmedia  4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Basically the same in reverse mate. The Pinout for the Fanatec Pedal Handbrake connector appears to be as follows:
      Signal | 3.5MM Jack = Sleeve | RJ12 = Pin 2
      +5V | 3.5MM Jack = Ring | RJ12 = Pin 1
      Ground | 3.5MM Jack = Tip | RJ12 = Pin 5 + 6
So in your case, Vin on your Potentiometer would go to Pin 1, Signal on your Potentiometer would go to Pin 2 and Ground would go to Pins 5 and 6

Should also note that if you're using a load cell or hall effect sensor for your handbrake it would be more complex.

@@boostedmedia I know this is 8 months old but fingers crossed for a response. So I have a slide pot i'm using in a handbrake to arduino board so it would be safe to connect the slide pot direct to rj12 on DD2 base? cheers

Do you think I could do this just to get rid of the 3.5mm jack? I've gone through 2 fanatec cables in under a year and I don't accidentally bump it or anything. the 3.5mm seems like a weak connection point

My handbrake is over a year old now anyway and the only part that could potentially be damaged by doing this is the potentiometer itself which is a $5 part. ;). More worried about frying the Heusinkveld controller.

I have thinking to buy, maybe at point, Hveld sprints, but I also need to use my otherwise Fanatec gear on consoles too. So I've been thinking would it be somehow possible to connect H's pedals to Fanatec base same way as you connect F's own pedals. Of course some kind of adapter cable is needes, but is there something in H's electronics which would prevent theme working in that scenario? Different signal etc? I know that you could maybe use Drivehub for connect them, I have DH but how about direct connection to base?

I just got my Fanatec handbrake and I wanted to set it vertical but I can't get the screws loose for the life of me, I can get the nut off on one side but I've damn near broken a hex wrench and had 2-3 people also try and get them out with zero success, only other option I'm looking at is taking it to a machine shop or something to try and get them to move. Is this normal? It seems to me like the holes weren't drilled large enough an when they put the bolts in it's completely seized up. Any suggestions, I can't use it horizontal with my rig and i'm kind of at a loss aside from contacting Fanatec and seeing about an RMA.

Hello good day. I have a very technical question that I hope you know how to answer, it would be incredible if this could be done. I have the Fanatec 2.5x, I play in gt sport and gt7, I need to use the 5-way switches on the rim, the rotary ones that are on both thumbs. The thing is that they should be given the connection that the same thrustmaster t-gt buttons have that give that automatic function and cannot be changed in these games, since they are hoops created for these games. What do you think? Would it be possible? infinite thanks

Hi Will, do you know if this works with the Sprints also? I can't seem to find a picture of the controller, and looks like it's different than the Ultimate's...not having to use an extra usb port would be great. Thanks

Hey Boosted, thanks for the video! Do you know which color wires go to which prong on the factory setup? There is a red, green, and white wire. But not sure which goes where on the factory 3 prong connection.

    • @boostedmedia

It’s not safe to go based off colour as it could be different. Needs to be tested as shown in the video.

@@boostedmedia Ended up dorking up the cable going to my cable and finding my way here through internet searches and found I broke the power connection. I would want to note at 6:53 , there's a slight confusion on where you physically point from tip, ring, sleeve in order on the plug but call it out in the order of tip, sleeve, ring. The callouts themselves are correct (ground to tip, signal to sleeve, power to ring) but you were pointing at the wrong locations as you reverse power/signal pointing. You've made a note of that in the pinout link you provided here and follows the correct order sleeve/ring/tip or tip/ring/sleeve moving in the same direction. Might be hard for someone to come here, but if they just follow the referenced pointing, it could damage their hardware.
This might attribute to where you mention that your wires disconnected from the factory 3 prong, so yours might actually be in those correct locations but you made the callout incorrect.
Either way, everyone should be verifying their setup that fanatec connected them from the factory and do a signal trace of their own to verify these.

A typical usb cable is what? $5. For me the Fanny USB Dongle Thingy is $39. I would still buy the thing (already have 1 for my shifter) for a handbrake as I have neither the tools or the talent (assistant) to make my own. Did I mention that giving me a soldering iron is a *very* bad idea? ;-)
