Because seeds will deposit on top of the mulch and germinate just the same. UNless you need to smother something, and for a limited time (ie: 2 seasons) I'd steer clear from it.@@abdul_adi

Not if you use Preen. The weeds will pull much easier if the fabric is down. Gives it a very shallow root system. ​@@Passosa
