- This yard immediately caught our attention, not only because of how overgrown it was but also because every other yard in the neighborhood was actually really well cared for. Initially we didn’t get an answer at the door so we went to the neighbor to ask what happened. He told us the previous people who lived there left a while back and that all the neighbors have been sending photos to the city but nothing has been done to get this yard back in shape and it is getting really bad. We had to start this yard by cutting up the fallen tree in the front and then we attack this super tall grass. If you think this is bad wait until we get to the back, Since I cant get my zero turn back there we have to just use the push mower. Tall grass, push mower, Texas heat. This was one for the books. You would be surprised at how many people will help once you just ask them. If he got kicked out i would assume the problem was the tenant.

Exactly. At the very least the front yard. The tall grass is a snake magnet and if the property is vacant it is a squatters magnet. If they aren't caring for it are they paying their municipal rates? Can the city force foreclosure sale?

Great job in your first yard in Texas! You know what they say -- "Everything's bigger in Texas." The yards are bigger, the grass is taller, the vines are more twisty, the snakes are meaner, and the days are hotter!

Welcome to Austun and the heat! The city here does not mow lawns as a practice. Only if it is in the road or some other hazard will they intervene. Also, if the land is outside the city limits, Travis County is then responsible. But the county has the same set of rules! Glad to see you used the weed eaters on the back yard!

Yeah welcome to Texas I think I warned you about this triple-digit heat that we have here in the humidity is no joke. There are quite a few lines that I can recommend to you guys I don't personally know the people that live there but they've been this way for quite a few years. Anyway hang in there and drink plenty of fluids and wear hats
We have an HOA, but houses still don't reply to notices.
That backyard is pretty tough for a push mower 😮

It looks like a crepe myrtle tree. We have those types of trees here in Australia as well...got a couple in my yard. They have a few nice colours.
