I'd say Panasonic was the innovator with that rear LCD design as they did it on the S1H and also the GH6. But good that Sony is copying things that work! Congrats on the new camera and looking forward to seeing what you do with it
Thanks Phillip! Yeah Panasonic definitely has a leg up in adapting the flip/tilt screen. Ironically, Sony used a similar design in their DSLR/A-Mount bodies, but moved away from it until now.
Not sure there's any easy way to do this, unless you contacted the manufacturer and they looked up your model number (vs. where/how you bought it). Nothing wrong with it, you might just need to watch out for support/repair purposes and if you'd still be covered under warranty.
It's an unusual unboxing experience for sure - underwhelming until you actually pull back the main lid/flap. But Sony's been doing it this way for years now.

@@andrewsaraceni In that case, I stand corrected!
@@PhillipRPeck I thought the same as you when I heard him say that in the video. 🤨 I didn't know they had such a feature on their A-mount bodies.
Dude that thing looks hugeeeeee , was looking o. Getting the a74
Basically the same size as the a7 IV and other Alpha bodies, so size shouldn't be an issue there.
Oh man! I got my first camera the A7IV last year. I really want the A7RV as my main, A7IV as my back up.
That's a great pairing for sure, I have the a7 IV as well.
@@andrewsaraceni got to make a return on all the investments I've made this year. Hopefully I have a good year next year to get it.
👏👏 Congrats. I'm waiting to see if they do release an a9iii with the same type of screen. If not I'll be getting one of these too.
Thanks! I'm hoping Sony keeps this screen design moving forward with all of their Alpha bodies.
Is it compatible with lenses of other brands like nikon's nikkor 85mm f/1.2?
There are third part adapters from Metabones, etc. that allow that to work, yes.
How to identify if my camera is gray market? Is it of same quality as usa version? Whats wrong with gray market camera?

Not going to lie. I thought the box was empty. I had such bad feelings opening this. Such poor packaging

Thanks!
No problem!
So It doesn't come with a kit lens?
No, not the a7R V - some retailers might sell it in pairs with certain lenses. The a7 IV you can still get with the 28-70mm kit lens though.
@@andrewsaraceni thank you so much
