Hey Luis that was a great diagnosis but here's a tip from an old guy. From the days when cars had distributors and points, the points had a good thick layer of platinum plating. You could file off the burnt parts and everything was OK. Then the manufacturers started to economise, the platinum got thinner and nowadays I think that they are all just silver plated. Not just in cars but in things like fridge thermostats. This plating is a very thin layer over a brass or steel contact, after you have cleaned it it will not last very long. I was once given a really nice washing machine, it was built like a tank but the contacts in the mechanical programmer were burnt. I cleaned them but after two weeks they failed again. All the silver plating was gone. Anything that draws a high current and has an inductive load will give you the same problems. I hope that this helps anybody out there. It is a shame to buy new parts but sometimes you may need to.
P.S. I'm not entirely sure but if you switch off the ignition with the wipers still running would the back EMF* make a spark across those contacts? Hopefully someone will know :)
*The back EMF is caused by the collapsing magnetic field (in for example, an electric motor) inducing a reverse voltage in the circuit. That's why some relays have a diode inside, it's to short that voltage across the coil and stop it harming the rest of the circuit.

well done, took a bit of sorting but you got it done, I ask myself what have we gained from all these electronics, millions of man hours lost everyday because of (in this case) a coked contact. In the old days you had 2 wires and a switch, you switched it on, and you switched it off, it worked .. and if it didn't it took 10 mins to fix.

Good video. Thanks. My ML350 front wipers are not working. I believe the motor is good by applying power via connector pins. The fuses are good in the fuse box. After turning key to ignition position, I find no power 12V shown on the wiper fuse terminals. Is this correct? All other fuses’ terminals can get 12V except the Horn fuse. However, the Horn does work good. Appreciate any suggestion?

@@LMAutoRepairs Thanks for the suggestion. After finding no problem to the pump and the motor, seeing no power on the fuse terminals, reconnect the battery, the washer and wipers are back to work now! I remember saw a TH-cam video. The guy has taken all wiper a part, test motor and finding no problem. The wiper begins to work after putting parts back. His comment, don't know what are reasons caused failure but hope the video shows you a good way of taking wiper into parts. I feel the same way, cannot figure out the failure reason. Though I did clean up the washer pump robber filter clogged residues.

Sometimes the car lifts sometimes it doesn't. The problem has gotten worse I can no longer jiggle the ignition to make my wipers work and now the car doesn't lift at all

    • @LMAutoRepairs

@@LMAutoRepairs the ignition is causing many problems. The wipers used to work by jingling the ignition and can't shift out of park without jiggling the ignition also when I press on the brake the SOS light and the gear shift lock light blinks and the radio cuts out. I've been having problems with the airmatic sometimes it goes up sometimes it goes down. And now that jiggling the ignition for making the wipers work does not work anymore the car also does not rise anymore I recently put a wire to a switch from that red power wire in your video to make my wipers work. And if the relay for the airmatic is on the same side that may not be getting power I'm assuming that it could also be causing the issue with it rising up and down. Sorry for the long paragraph and thank you for your help
