I did not know how to read and write an EEPROM 5P08C3. Thanks to you I know now that the EEPROM programmer X-prog M 5.55 can do this and you have to use the setting ST - ST95P08. Thanks a lot!

X-prog should reap that chip indeed...
Yes, use 95080 to read that eeprom...

I had a Lexus IS300 in shop for bad gas gauge and blinking low fuel light. Scan codes, nothing in ECM except P0420 and P0430, replace cats fixed that problem. Could not communicate with BCM. Pulled tank unit(easy) and the sender was ok. Boss said put a cluster in it. I decided to pull BCM, and it had corroded areas on the board. I cleaned the corrosion and reinstalled and it worked. How long, who knows. Called around, dealer, etc for new BCM. Remans were $325 and had to be programmed on car by dealer. New from dealer $550 and same programming issues. We cannot program in our shop. No equipment. I bet you could have figured this one out. Would have been an interesting case study.

Thank you for this video. In my case, I can not copy chips, I do not have the equipment/programmer. But, I will swap them, since my ECU won't start vehicle. I am getting used working ECU and replace this chip, and hopefully, car will start. I will post here the results in a few days, for anyone interested to see.

To read the EEPROM on the board connect a condensator parallel to the piëzo oscillator. The processor stops and you can read the EEPROM without desoldering. I never done that but I read this somewere on the internet. I have stops with DPF and EGR Off in 2014. Will yoou try this the next time? I'm cutious. At my age (72) it's very difficult to work on ECU's. My eyes aren't good enough. Thnaks for video.

      You are absolutely correctly...
The only thing is that some programmers, and/or some boards layout do not allow to read the chip while on the PCB... the best safe way is remove the chip... consider to read in circuit (while on the pcb), MCUs or big chips... for a 4 pin chip, safest way is removing... but hey, this is just my opinion and the way I do it...

      Hi
So, you bridged the a fuse, and then you connected the battery backwards again!?
Try to scan the car, and see which modules you can't connect with... check all fuses etc... do not bridge them... replace it!

I'm mechanic and I'm starting to do this kind of jobs. I built a Carprog and after watch your video and read the comments, I'm not sure if is necessary in my case:
I have Citroen C5 - EDC15C2 ECU that contains serious damages on the board caused by one of capacitors, that exploded and burned a big hole on the base.
If I'm right, you did a copy for use booth ECUs in the car, but in my case, you think that only changing eeproms from damaged ECU to donor, could be enough for start the engine?

      Hi
      Not on all chips...
The program does check data by comparing it with the file after writing...
      Thank you for watching!

Luis hi, im wondering how do you distinguish the eeprom from the CAN transceiver for example having both 8 pins??

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      armando nika
Well, first you can look at the writing on them...
Then, when you start to get familiar with the circuits, you can see by also looking at the components around them...
The can transceiver for example, usually has a filter at some point in the circuit...
      Hope that helps...
      Thank you for watching!

I see his frustration with Apple and the schematics, I started following you as you do some or similar repairs, well not exactly but you go deeper into the automotive side of the pcb than we ever do as a technician. Our repairs for the most part stop at the box, and most just install new box and load new software from the factory site. And most manufacturers tell us nothing of the box. But sometimes knowing what goes on in the box helps in the thought process and the repair. I will keep watching and trying to learn even though no Peugeots or Renaults here where I work.

Hello, it's possible to place the eeprom of old ECU directly in new ECU without programming ( read from old/write in new) ??
