Why our Walking on Water scene looked so real...

  • If you found our walking on water scene believable, that's because we faked as little as possible. The waves, wind, and rain were all real. And the footing...well, it was firmer than water, but far from solid ground.
Enjoy this look at the steps we took to get as close as humanly possible to a divine miracle. And if you want to see more, check out the full documentary in The Chosen app.

Juxtaposing the episode of Simon saying don't let me go and Eden praying don't let him go was very powerful

It was good, but I wished she would have prayed for herself. She was alone and had lost a baby, she had undergone so much pain and shifting the focus so much on Peter did her a bit wrong I think. I had such a hard time connecting with her character because she is losing a lot of personality. Too selfless, you know. It works for the scene, but realistically I think it would have been better if she had prayed "Don't let us go." I even think it would have worked better if Peter had been present when they lost the baby. This whole marriage quarrel was painful to watch. I thought he had little compassion for his wife and if they wanted to depict him mourning his child so much he should have known of his wife's pregnancy and looking forward to being a father. They could have really shown him struggling uniting family with following Jesus. They missed a chance there.

I can agree to disagree with you on this one. The main idea was simply to get The Walking On Water scene and for Simon to come to terms with following Jesus even with everything doesn't make sense which is a classic character trait assignment that's listed in the Bible. The information about the marriage in the miscarriage and those things aren't necessarily in the Bible so that's just fodder and I think the main idea was to have it resolved so that at the end of the day Simon was committed to Jesus more than anything else. But that's just me.

I think the point with them showing Eden praying for her husband instead of herself is because we as followers of Christ are to reflect Jesus’ character. Jesus throughout his ministry prayed for others. Scriptures in both the Old and New Testament tell us to pray for one another. Job 42:10 “And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job, when he had prayed for his friends. And the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.” 1 Timothy 2:1 “First of all, then, I urge that supplicants, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,” James 5:16, “Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working”. I think they were showing Eden was following the scripture of old and following Jesus example by praying for others before herself and in this case it was for her husband. I personally think the scene flashing between Eden and Peter represents the healing that can take place as we pray for one another. Peter may not have seemed like he was praying, but he was seeking Jesus for answers for the pain and loss that he didn’t understand. I can only imagine this is the struggle that couples who go through with such a painful loss. Men tend to want to fix things or have answers and in this scene Peter had neither, so he sought out the only one who does. At least that is what I got from the flashing scenes between Eden and Peter. As for the walking on water and Peter sinking, well it symbolizes what happens to us followers of Christ when we take our eyes off Jesus and don’t put our complete trust in God. Matthew 6:33 “ But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Me too, and I can't control it. I tried not to tear up, but it doesn't work. I don't get bumps but my eyes just drip tears. I know that these are just actors and the scene is not the real event, but I also know that it really did happen, and I think back and wander into the mind of Simon Peter, and just imagine how he felt when he lost his faith and began sinking. And then I can imagine that feeling when Yeshua pulled him up, and asked him why he doubted. I also have compassion on him because at least he was the only one of the twelve that had enough faith in the first place to actually get out of the boat and do it for however many steps it was, until he felt the fear again because of the rough seas and the boisterous wind and got his eyes off of Yeshua.
I hate it when people try to think that it was an allegorical example for us to use when our faith is faltering. It is narrative because that's the genre of the chapter, and I know that there are spiritual components to the account that we can learn from, but it really did happen (and I know that I have said that already, but it's worth repeating.)

    • @FrankPCarpi
      @FrankPCarpi ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@TheChosenSeries
Yes, the entire series has been a mixed bag of emotions and spiritual lessons. Even if there are additional stories added, and character qualities or attributes that we don't read anything about in the Scriptures. I understand that it's not supposed to be an exact depiction of the Bible narrative, but even though there is a lot of artistic licence being used to tell the gospel stories, I don't think that it's a sinful act as so many people have been in an uproar about. I remember Dallas explaining that right from the start so that people were advised to not use the program as a substitute for reading and studying our Bibles. I don't know what God's judgement is regarding the additional stories and details to make this program entertaining and provocative enough to make people thirst for the whole word of God. There are hundreds of people (if not more) who are unhappy with the added side stories and additions to the Bible. I have seen comments on every episode and it appears to me that many people have been brought closer to God in Jesus' (Yeshua Messiah) tenderness acted by Johnathan Roumie. He seems to have a tender heart and that is a necessary characteristic of our Lord.

Watching the surrender of anger, sorrow and utter despair, running back into the bosom of Jesus is something we can all relate to. Such a powerful emotional scene. How many of us during our life has been to a place of complete desperation where we know unless the God of heaven and earth intervenes, our loved one will die, we will lose our marriage., We will lose our wayward teenager, and so many scenarios, there is no other hope. Every time I see this scene and Simon is calling out to Jesus, and then pleading, “Don’t let me go!”, it makes me just weep. Jesus is our life line. In my 74 years, I can think of so many times I have cried out to my Lord. St this moment, our family is going through a situation with a family member and I know that unless Jesus intervenes, there is no hope. Everyday I pray, “Lord, there is nothing too hard for you.” And I believe that. One of my favorite verses is Isaiah 43:2. Jesus is always there. He just waiting for us to surrender the problem to Him. He’s ready to intervene and help. Once again, I say with a thankful heart, thank you Dallas and everyone that’s involved. Your hard work and efforts are so appreciated and life changing. Much love and prayers for your continued journey.❤️✝️🙏🙌

I just keep watching this over and over and my face is wet with tears. Every single time I see it, I cry out with Simon: “Jesus don’t let me go, don’t let me go, don’t let me go.!!!

Wow!!! It was always hard for me to imagine how this miracle happened, and though I know this isn't exactly how it was this scene has helped tremendously to visualize Peter walking on water, held up by his faith! The picture of Jesus lifting him up when he fell was a beautiful reminder of God's love for us, and how He will always lift us up when we fall. Love this show!

It was a beautifully done way to conclude Season 3. Glad the Lord helped pull all the pieces together to make it a logical component and not just a wow for wow’s sake, and that the tank was so close and the tech all worked wonderfully. I love that when possible (like here as well as feeding of 5000 that you do not just use computer generated graphics. Kudos to cast and all the behind the scenes crew.

This scene was SPECTACULAR. I bet everybody worked so hard, especially Shahar and Jonathan, and also those who were filming the scene and holding the microphones. Dang, this scene was so amazing, it was insane. The greatness of the quality too? My gosh! That’s some real walking on water right there.

Phenomenal!!!!! Absolutely phenomenal!!! The average person has no idea what’s involved in filming a scene, especially one such as difficult and challenging as this. It was incredibly fascinating to see. I’ve developed a whole new appreciation for the talent, efforts and skills involved in filmmaking. Thank you for posting!!!!

It's not so much Simon saying "Don't let me go", it's Jesus saying "I got you" that touches me in an unexplainable way. To say I don't always remember that Jesus has me is the truth but because of this scene I am sure I will live by it from this second on. Hearing Jesus literally say 3 little words, just not reading them, brought me to a place I needed to be at. I'm thanking all of The Chosen crew and cast for 3 beautiful, touching, eye opening, amazing seasons. 24 episodes has changed millions of people including me. 24 episodes of any other show has NEVER been so incredible. God bless and may He continue to shower His grace and mercy on all involved in The Chosen and all who are touched by it. 🙏🕊🐟🍞✝️🙌💜

There are many powerful scenes in The Chosen. This one gives me the peace I need in our world today. Even with the tears that flow, hearing him say "Don't let me go," I feel such peace. It's difficult to explain. I just pray He doesn't let go of us doing the very clear test we are going through in the world today. Family members and friends turning against each other, every action thought and belief has become political. God is not allowed in our schools yet perversion is protected by law.
I know that there is a balance on earth. For every evil there is good. This series has helped me remember that there is hope. There is a love for us that is absolutely unconditional and that we deserve that love.
Thank you for this series. Thank you for the dialog that can be quite serious and minutes later makes me laugh. Thank you for helping me see Bible stories as very human and relatable.
Thank you Heavenly Father for guiding me to view the series. Thank you for sending Jesus to pay for my sins and the sins of us all.
Bless you all at Angel Studios and may God watch over you all. 🙏
