    YOU know your stuff. I'm an Electrician and I knew the problem wasn't electrical. Just like your example, my tube was frozen solid. I bought a filtration system right at the time my ice maker stopped. I plumbed in 1/2" sweat with a 1/4-turn valve coming out of the filters. Originally, I had a galvanized steel pipe reducer that was rusted nearly SHUT. That was why I had low water pressure. I replaced with a brass bushing - to - 1/2" sweat copper and now have ice! The first ice was green so I dumped the first five ice dumps. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, Thank You.

    Thanks for the tip on checking for the frozen line. I did need to change the saddle valve, but the frozen line was also a problem.

    Thank you so much! Mine was the "frozen tube" going through the back of the fridge. I pulled it out, thawed it with a hair dryer, and we now have ice again! I have a new water filter coming today, if the old one (only been in 4 months) somehow contributed to this. Fridge is 4 years old, and this is the FIRST trouble with the ice maker we've ever had.

      Did you have your ice maker off for awhile and then it froze? My wife has the freezer packed and after clearing out some of the food - ice maker isn’t working. I suspect a frozen tube. Was it easy to put back after blowdrying? I’m considering giving this a try.

    • @MikeBear1231
      @MikeBear1231 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kcal321 Yes, that's exactly what happened. It was a little difficult to pull it out, because of the way it froze. I pulled it as far as I could without forcing it, and used the hairdryer with it partially pulled out, until it thawed completely.

      @@MikeBear1231 thank you for the reply and feel little more confident to try and figure out fixing this ice maker.

    Thank you, thank you! It was a lot of helpful info packed into one short video. Although my refrigerator is 2.5 years old and under warranty it stopped making ice after it frosted over due to the kids leaving the door cracked on the freezer all day and over night. I followed a few of your steps after I defrosted everything, cycled it through to make sure it was filling with water and rotating and closed everything back up. Hopefully in a couple of hours I’ll hear that familiar dump of ice the water turn on on it’s own.

    This was very helpful except the I have a Whirlpool French door, bottom freezer that does not have the extra ice maker in the freezer. My ice maker that is located in the upper left of the refrigerator is not making ice and dropping cubes into the door compartment. How do I troubleshoot it? The whole ice maker is completely shrouded and has a flapper that the ice comes thru into the door compartment.
