Very informative video. My problem is the ice cubes are freezing together. How can I fix this? I haven't changed the temperature setting since I got the refrigerator, but this problem is new.
Thanks for an excellent video. I jump started my harvest operation but it seems that the ice in the maker is frozen and the timer clock stops ticking and just sits there trying to turn. How do I go about emptying the ice maker?
Thanks for the video! My ice maker makes noise, acts like it needs to be oiled. Do you have a video which shows what parts would need lubrication ? Thank you
Same style of ice maker (maytag). What's the problem when it all works and the water is over flowing into the ice tube. I've adjusted the water timer to the shortest setting? The copper hole is all the way to the left as you look at it. Second oem ice maker that I have installed. This one work great for about 6 months and started to over flow. The water valve I replaced also.
Great information! How do you troubleshoot when the water doesn't stop filling, had a waterfall coming out of freezer, what tells the water valve that the ice maker is full of water?
Great video. Saved me some bucks finding out I DID NOT need a new icemaker. Somehow the water coming into it froze up. Thawed it, works great I really like how you explained how these things worked and how to test the water valve, etc... Thanks from Kentucky
@@melvincarrera9691 all I did was shut the water off, then used a heat gun to melt the accumulated ice in the channel that lead into the area where the cubes are formed.
GReat video, now I am more clear ... but I am still need to know a litle bit more about the electrical connections to the ice maker if I make the conversion from digital to analog, which I need because I don't want to spend a lot of money getting a new board that is also very difficult to get. So I would be pleased if you give me a hand on this subject. Thanks in advance, Ramon Perera, Miami.
I have model WSF26C3EXB01. Ice maker is located in the door. Ice maker was not working, not getting water etc. First move, I repaired the broken wires at the bottom of the freezer door. Freezer is set at 0 degrees. The ice machine now runs when the paddle is pressed, the shoot opens etc. however it is still not calling for water. Water does come when using the water paddle. What is my next move? Water inlet valve replacement? Would a clogged water filter be the problem? BTW this video was very informative. Thank you.
What type of wire the jumper wire? Does it have to be a certain type of length and thickness? Please advise. Thank you in advance. Great instruction!!!!!!
Hi - watched your video, very helpful. Clicked on your link below for kit. I didn't see the one that you used in the video that had the no ice bucket and multiple harnesses. We would like to purchase the one you used in the video. Can you tell us the part number or where to buy? Thanx.
Awesome video. After troubleshooting a no-water problem, I ended up replacing the water valve. It still doesn't make ice. when I jump L-W it fill. Waiting to see if i jump-started it.
Hey Peter.. thanks for this video. Great stuff. Mine is a weird situation. Jumping the ice maker works fine and runs fine but when the water clicks on only a tiny bit of water goes into the ice maker and never fills up or actually comes out. Water dispenser works fine. water is flowing fine into the fridge as well. Could it be the solenoid sending water into the ice maker? thanks in advance.
You can adjust the amount of water, when you take the cap off the ice maker there is a plastic screw on the side, also if you have bad water pressure change your filter
Great video!! Same fridge. My ice maker gets no water now. I have a MAX switch to produce ice quicker and I think I forgot to shut that off once ice was full. What gauge of wire to you use for the jumper? Fridge side cools fine it seems. Freezer not at all. How much does the ice maker help in freezing this side? Could there be a relay switch down at the bottom as a factor for not cooling? Maybe I have multiple issues? I appreciate the response! Thank you!!!! From Raleigh NC....starting to get cold out side.....
Hi. Thanks for the video....My Whirlpool ice maker is leaking a little water into the ice container which appears to be from the ice maker. Do you think it's a matter of overfilling or is there anyway the ice maker is leaking. My water pressure is fine. I did replace the pump at the bottom of the fridge. When the water leaked into the ice container below it froze and when the ice dispenser activated the turning corkscrew broke a hole in the bottom of the ice bucket. Thanks for any advice you can give me.
I’m sorry about your ice tray. I have the same problem. I’ve gotten used to making sure I break the ice up to avoid damage to the system. I am thawing out the machine now. I hope it’s just a residual build up. I don’t see any cracks yet in the ice tray machine or bin. I too get a little drip stream that covers my ice pile causing massive chunks.
Thank you for taking the time to make this very helpful video. My ice maker is making ice all the time. I lift the on-off arm and put a brace on it to keep it up but it's still making ice. Would that indicate the arm switch itself is defective?
Very likely yes. Make sure the arm is in the whole properly. It can but stuck out of the ice maker and lifting it up will not turn it off if that is the case.
Love your videos, they have been very helpful. My Kitchen-aid ice maker service test shows a E5 error and is passing all other tests, 36, 37, 45, 57, 59. It does make ice only if I run through test 57 or 59 and then do the service test 45 to fill tray. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks Dotti
I have this same ice maker. Suddenly stop making ice. The unit has been replaced but still not making ice. I looked at the water line where water runs into tray. I see ice build up in that tube. How do I free that ice up? Thanks and love the video.
OK, so I have a Whirlpool side by side, ice maker is problematic. At first I jumpered T&H and the harvest cycle worked, but after waiting five minutes, no water flow. Jumpered V&L and water flowed. When the flow started, I removed the jumper and water flow stopped completely. So, when I woke up this morning, water had overflowed, the thing is flooded and the fingers are frozen in place. I am thinking it could be the thermostat not working, but you didn't really go in depth with that. I replaced the ice maker once before about seven years ago, but I'm wondering if there is a way to order just that, or do I need to just replace the whole thing? I plan to pull it and let it thaw out, then put it back in and see if it works normally. What would be your opinion on this?
Hi great video one of the best I’ve watched trying to figure out my no ice issue. Anyway i have no power to any of the ports door switch is shut optic switch isn’t blocked. If I remove the ice maker and test from black to green on pigtail that’s hardwired to to refrigerator i get 101 volts if i test an outlet in my house i get 120v. I also tried the jumper wire to activate ice harvest and it does nothing. The ice maker is brand new. I also tested the black wire where the thermo sensor is and its good. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Check the hardwired black and white. That is the L1 to N I have seen a-lot that when checking to green or ground to L1 that you will see a voltage drop. If you indeed have a voltage drop to 101vac, that will not run the motor on those. I have ran into some where the emitter and receiver was the cause of the voltage drop. You will have to track it back to where you lose the voltage could be the emitter/receiver or it could be something to do with the wiring. I hope it is you emitter and receiver.
I also was having the same problem. The door switch had ice built up on the contacts and wouldn't close. I thawed it out and my brand new ice maker and water valve replacement worked like a champ. Thanks for the troubleshooting information 👍
I don’t understand why folks stop at checking the power. I need to know how to find out where my power issue is. I have the same style fridge but it’s a Kenmore with a hardwire harness to my ice maker. Issue started when I replaced my filter a few months back. Took a long time to make ice. I took the freezer apart and found the air vent to the ice maker in the back panel blocked solid with ice. I used a hair dryer to melt the ice. Ice maker was still taking a long time to make ice. I ordered a new one but my harness wouldn’t fit the ice maker. So I let it go. Daughter told me a few days ago it was making a weird noise. So I had her turn it off by the arm me I checked it when I got home. There was water in the ice maker and it was starting to freeze. I purchased an OEM ice maker and installed it. It won’t cycle. I did the jumper test and I can’t get it to cycle or pump water. So where do I go from here? Do I cut out the thermal fuse and add a wire to connect it or what?
I loved your explanation but none of that ws my issue. The water coming in freezes in the tube and I get a beautiful frozen water fall. Then the ice bucket is full of ice slab
If you have same model, the filter is located below freezer door and should be accessible through the vent screen at bottom of fridge, you will turn it counter clockwise to unlock and you pull straight out towards you. You shouldn't have to turn off water because when the filter is unlocked the valve closes unless someone did something to the valve, I have had no problems finding replacement filters online. .about $30 for 4 filters unless you buy more expensive. But you are supposed to replace every 6 months because of bacteria build up mho. I've seen people go up to 2 years before filter affects pressure.. good luck..
My Whirlpool side by side refrigerator model ED5GTGXNQ00 has a white plastic ice dispenser drum which the blades near the door have broken. Do you have a part number you can give me to replace a plastic drum (not a metal one as seen in other videos)?
I have a whirlpool ice maker and the arm will not go down and the prongs in the tray are down. I also did the paper clip trick and the dial rocked but did not move? I need your help please. Kim
Hey Peter, thanks for the video, it is an excellent tutorial. However, how can I change the old harness and use the one that comes with the new ice maker? Can you do that?
Hey peter your bideo was very helpful, one thing though your camera angle is to high we can't always see what your hands are doing to disconnect the electrical plug. Just a suggestion.
i have whirpool side by side wrs325fdam02 i did the wire test to water valve no water comes into ice tray but i still get water to the door to drink does that still mean a bad water valve any help would be great
Having issues with my unit not dispensing the ice , I did the Harvey’s test and it passed the test dispensing the ice but never does the automatic cycle after , wonder what the issue is?
After watching this video and testing the filling of the ice tray, I'm thinking that the defrost cycle on my 14 year old whirlpool ED5PVEXWS06 is what's creating the ice at the bottom of my freezer. Do you or anyone else have tips to fix the defrost issue? I have pictures.
Question: does water for the ice maker goes through the water filer like it does for the water dispenser? Could a dirty filter cause water shortage to the ice maker?
Where is this fuse that you . mentioned,i have two fridges with no power up to the ice maker,i thought the black fat link which attaches to the stainless clip was the ( thermostat) which tells the ice maker when ice was formed & ready to harvest,,,,,please tell / show me where the fuse is???
Hi , my Maytag side by side fridge model MZD2669KEQ , the freezer temp is only going -9C and so the ice maker is not proving ice. Tested the ice maker by jumper the T & H and it turn then refill. Is ok to adv me of possible problem.

Yes the emitter was the problem even with the optics lever held down it it would slowly pulse Now the red light is brilliant and she makes ice 👍👍👍
Same problem lineup is it the fuse
I mean... figure out how to follownthe harness to its source obviously
Thank you so much this is very good information.
but maybe I missed something but Sir. where to get the jumper cable?🤔
Make your own
I loved your explanation but none of that ws my issue. The water coming in freezes in the tube and I get a beautiful frozen water fall. Then the ice bucket is full of ice slab
I have an iceberg forming underneath the ice maker at the front of the tray! I see water drip out from the bottom do I need an entire unit?
How do u adjust the time the water value opens. I only get 5 out of 8 ice cubes
Great video, question where is the filter located
If you have same model, the filter is located below freezer door and should be accessible through the vent screen at bottom of fridge, you will turn it counter clockwise to unlock and you pull straight out towards you. You shouldn't have to turn off water because when the filter is unlocked the valve closes unless someone did something to the valve, I have had no problems finding replacement filters online. .about $30 for 4 filters unless you buy more expensive. But you are supposed to replace every 6 months because of bacteria build up mho. I've seen people go up to 2 years before filter affects pressure.. good luck..
Where is the defrost timer on an Amana ASR8265BW side by side refrigerator?
Water freezes up at the chute into the ice maker. Why?
My Whirlpool side by side refrigerator model ED5GTGXNQ00 has a white plastic ice dispenser drum which the blades near the door have broken. Do you have a part number you can give me to replace a plastic drum (not a metal one as seen in other videos)?

how do you change the fuse on a kenmore side by side fridge ??
I worked on one today and everything was good. That you said, but there is no w, there's an m. No w
Great job! Thank you!
Hey Peter, thanks for the video, it is an excellent tutorial. However, how can I change the old harness and use the one that comes with the new ice maker? Can you do that?
The ice maker is new and I tried to jump T and H to make a reset and it doesn´t work. Can the harness be the problem as the ice maker is new?
I mean the fuse you mentioned on the video, how can it be replaced?
Another ? When you hump the water vavle? Does it stay on tell you remove the jumper or you touch and it goes off the vavle timer?
Where is this fuse that you . mentioned,i have two fridges with no power up to the ice maker,i thought the black fat link which attaches to the stainless clip was the ( thermostat) which tells the ice maker when ice was formed & ready to harvest,,,,,please tell / show me where the fuse is???
Hi , my Maytag side by side fridge model MZD2669KEQ , the freezer temp is only going -9C and so the ice maker is not proving ice. Tested the ice maker by jumper the T & H and it turn then refill. Is ok to adv me of possible problem.
