Any hydroquinone product that's been out in the market for a very very long time, even in over the counter products, is very safe. But most important thing is how you use it and always in moderation! And for the love of all humanity, don't expose your face to the sun! Use a sunscreen but never ever go out without protection or better, avoid direct sun light to your face if possible! Also, be patient, results will appear in months not overnight, and always use a gentle light tested moisturiser after every use before your sunscreen.

Before sunscreen. I'm confused. I thought sunscreen always had to be the first thing applied to skin so that it can work efficiently and applying it over other products hinders its efficacy
@@SleepingLionUK I'm not a specialist nor have a degree in dermatology but based from what I've heard from specialists or experts on these field, is that it depends on the formulation of the product and how your skin can tolerate it, as well as your skin type, if it works for you then do it, however, what matters is your skin is protected from the sun by using a sunscreen.

I have a question. A couple of years ago I was waiting to get an appointment with a local dermatologist, which took nearly a year. While waiting to get an appointment I started seeing advertisements for Musely. I got tired of waiting for my appointment and decided to try Musely. After using it for a couple of months I saw immediate improvement. Then, I got an appointment with the local dermatologist. He wasn't happy with the dosages in the formula. He said if I continued using the high dosages the melasma will come back even darker. He has me on a regime, 1/3rd the dosage of Musely! I'm not seeing any improvement. He's offered to give me laser treatments, however, being a woman of color, I'm apprehensive,and refused the treatment. I'm thinking of trying Musely again, however, I was disappointed with the means of communication. I couldn't talk to the company dermatologist to relay any fears I have. All communication is digital/automated. I didn't believe I was communicating with a real doctor. Perhaps you can tell me if there's been any changes as far as communicating with the dermatologist?

How long do you typically recommend breaking from HQ? And how long can you use before breaking? Is it true it can have negative effects with prolonged use?
Most dermatologists recommend using HQ for 2-4 months before taking a 2 month break. Worsened hyperpigmentation can occur from overuse, which is why it's very important to follow your designated doctor's instructions.
Very true, hydroquinone is like an eraser. Ever since my pregnancy I've been dealing with it. But using hydroquinone is the BEST thing ever and makes my fave so clear! Its just scared me because of all of the things I've read about it. But I love this stuff. I wish they'd create something where you could use it forever without having to take breaks. NO. dont ever use hydroquinone or anyyyy bleaching treatment on your face while exposing to the sun. It will make your spots EVEN DARKER and hydroquinone is a veryyyy potent chemical that will literally make your melasma 100 times worse and it can even go blue. Orchronosis is a very important topic to investigate. please be careful
