    I’m 44 years old today… I remember being 30 and playing this game ALL the time! I actually met some really cool people and formed a clan. I would go to work during the day and couldn’t wait to get home and play some Warhawk. I remember being excited for Starhawk, but after playing the demo I never even bothered picking it up. I was the same but instead of waiting to leave work, I was waiting to leave high school 😂 The biggest complaint I had about Starhawk was they added a LASER SIGHT to my damn sniper rifle. It absolutely ruined sniping for me. Hopefully Sony does something with Warhawk down the road.

    Warhawk is my favorite game of all time. For every reason that you mentioned and more. I played from 2008 - to the day the servers were shutdown. Once I got word they were closing the servers I made the push to finally get General rank! I was Brigadier General for atleast 5 years lol! You made a great video that highlighted moments that we all experienced and told stories in a way that very few people could do. I thoroughly enjoyed this but I do wish you went more into what grinding for ranks was like and that feeling of finally achieving the rank you were going for. Like the first time I got Commander rank was soooo hype! I still remember the moment that rank up sign popped up on screen. And also the customization options that came along with ranking up. It was amazing and so addicting. All in all awesome video and thanks for letting us know there’s still a way to play online! I definitely will look into it and be playing again ASAP!

    I have so much time put on this game when I was in high school. I was part of a big group who would play every day after we got home from school. Learning, improving, and eventually becoming a name others would remember and fear. There were so many players we would continuously run into, some only a few of us could take on alone in the skies. Everyone had their own playstyle, maneuvers and tactics that once learned could be countered and punished. I wonder if we have crossed paths a few times back in the day, I definitely remember a few usernames that would always be playing spilt screen. I miss this game a lot, maybe I'll have to jump back on the private server to get a massive kick of nostalgia. Thank you for making this video, brought back a lot of memories!

    Awesome video BloodCell47. What an advertisement for one of the greatest shooter games ever developed. Every year some publication puts out a Top Games List and Warhawk never even gets a notable mention. I would add two additional selling points that made the game unique. One, the rookie servers which gave noobs the ability to learn the maps and weapons while playing against similarly inexperienced players. Two, Private Servers and Clans. I know many games have both now but I think this really bonded the Warhawk community. I played for WYLD and remember scrolling the private server list hosted by clans like SUGA, BSK, GI, NmE and I could predict the players in those games. I’ve played all the major titles since and I have yet to find a game that has as many people on the mics as Warhawk, which helped to make friends (and sometimes enemies).

    One last thing and then I’ll shut up. I Love the crazy stuff you can do that isn’t realistic but adds so much fun to the game. Silly things like planting mines on jeeps and running them into enemies and Warhawks pushing vehicles off bridges. I made a montage several years ago that highlights those anomalies:
    th-cam.com/video/qkH5_St90oM/w-d-xo.html
    I also want to compliment you on your narrative and editing style, good mix of clips that work well with the music. I know from my video that it takes a boatload of hours to produce and so glad you spent the time to do it.

      @BloodCell47  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks for giving it a watch dude. I wasn't very involved in the community back then but I do recognize some of those clans. This game is super unique and the games of today just can't live up to it. It's a shame it hasn't been remastered of something like that. Oh yeah warhawks pushing jeeps off of bridges and stuff was always funny. And it would instantly return the flag too. Yeah man I spent 2 months working on this one and I'm really happy with how it turned out. Had to give this game the spotlight.

    I still play the game today. I recall a time when (this was 3 years ago) I was on Archipelago CTF. It was close to the end of the match. I was on the Eucadian side. Respawned at zone three right by my base. Our team had the enemy’s flag. The flag carrier was in a jeep on the bridge leading to the base. Then he got airstriked. One of our teammates was nearby and grabbed the flag. Knowing he wasn’t going to make it on his own, I jumped into a jeep without hesitation, drove over to him, and brought my teammate back to base to win the match. I even got the Taxi Driver Trophy

    Loved Warhawk, like you said, there was nothing like it at the time for years to come. Eventually got Killzone 2 in 2009 which was also 32 players and with it's graphics... there was nothing like that game either. But the scale Warhawk had was something Battlefield wouldn't be able to do until years later on console... even so, there could be a ton of Warhawks dogfighting at any one time, not just a plane or two like Dice games, entire lobbies devoted to dogfights is just one aspect of this game.
    Fuck man. PS3 multiplayer was just generally sick as hell. Warhawk, Resistance Fall of Man, Resistance 2, MAG, Killzone 2, MGO, Demon's Souls, UT3, COD in it's PRIME MW/MW2/Black Ops, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3... these games had so much heart and soul, and at a time when I was growing up and didn't have to ask my parents for extra money for a PS plus/gold subscription.
    Ohh man, and playing RPGs like Oblivion for the first time in 2007(Was seriously nothing like that game at the time). Full back compat with PS1/PS2. PS3 was just so great.

    Great video so many memories and awesome personal accomplishments. Top on the leader board multiple times, impossible sniping kills, squad wipe, most flag carries just to name a few.
    Short story sadly I started playing this in 08 and didn't actually get the DLC until 2015 but nobody was on it. It felt so sad and lonely being the only one only to realize that just a few years later it became a reality.
    I created a second account because I made Sargeant and was getting slaughtered by the vets and choose to play at the lower ranks because to me it wasn't about the competition it was about the fun. Made great friends through the chat who I still am with today and will forver have everlasting memories of this game. I listen to the soundtrack often and you can probably find my older comments on them. This game is truly timeless and is perhaps the only game that captures the spirit of true multiplayer.
    I was only a teenager then and as a man now my feelings for this game still haven't changed, I definitely miss the community and what it was out youth and how the generation was as gamers back then. I'd gladly add anyone who are vets of this gem onto my psn and perhaps we may all come together and tell tales of a time that once was.

    What a great tribute! Me and my friends legit would get multiple ps3s and all try to be a team of 8 or dare I say 16! My war story would be me speeding across the map, game winning flag in hand. In heavy pursuit, the enemy warhawks swoop in, hailing a barrage of bullets and metal. We reach the bridge, knowing its a death sentence with the wide open, our jeep bursts aflame! The final moments of our charge were near, when all of a sudden your squadmate picks you up with a fully loaded dropship! The doors all open and begin blasting the enemy. We descend on our base, seconds left to score, spin up our jeep tires, and clutch the win!!!!! (Did all of this with the song "Dragon Rider" by TSFH playing). Would have loved to play with/against ya brother! Thanks for stoking the flame within that all started with Warhawk!!!

    Thank you for making this video! It reminded me of some good childhood memories! It was so tense when you herd those binoculars while screaming to your teammates that you need backup because you had the flag. Or when the enemy took all the bases you would go on a warhawk and secretly take the corner bases that no one was watching and make your team spawn there and 180 the match. It was so underrated I only played with my sister and father. None of my friends had this game and many people had that experience too but because of that I felt like the community was more together than other games at that time. Randomly got this game bundle from gamestop and it's still one of my favorites and most played game. Wish they would make a remastered one for PS5.

    You really let loose on your montage making heart on this one. No crawling by linkin park, but still pretty good.
    I'm also taking note of the good use of cutaway gags and memes. You don't linger on them and let them overstay their welcome, which is good. Just short and sweet.
    the screaming of BINOS!! at 10:43 was hilarious.
    I dunno what my favorite map is, but I DO know that my best memory is on Island Outpost. That was the first time I drove a flag in a jeep all the way back to our base while you covered me and I still remember how hype we were lol
    the way you mix footage of Warhawk, movies and different games all to make certain shots in the video feel more dynamic is sick, my brother.
    I'm glad to see that this video is kinda popping off. Look at all these comments. You deserve this, bro. Great video. I had no idea it was gonna be about Warhawk. What a nice surprise.

      @BloodCell47  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had to cut the crawling in my skin montage to save on time 😫 I guess I've had a lot of practice to fine tune my timing thanks to all the Battlefield highlights I make for the crew. I actually tried rewatching a bunch of the WW episodes to find a BINOS clip but after 6 episodes I couldn't find anything so I just said "I'll make a new one"
      I do remember that lol, it was a super hype moment. That type of rush is pretty rare in other games today. I definitely wanted to tell a compelling story along with reminiscing the game so all the different footage helped.
      Yeah man this video has been going up a lot faster than my previous works and it's getting a lot of love. I'm glad that a lot of people are liking the end result of all my work. Thanks for watching it homie and we gotta get you back into the game at some point too.

Can't thank you enough for putting together such a high quality piece together for this amazing game (and informing me that servers were resurrected!). I have a trove of fond memories of Warhawk, and even more of its sequel: Starhawk (~3,000 hours vs 200 in Warhawk) -which I could gush about for hours on end. Would you possibly consider doing a video on that as well?

    My favorite war story was running the flag on foot, twice for the win. Most ppl don't know but you do not shoe up on map when on foot with flag, only in vehicles. I remember running and hiding for 10 minutes straight dodging the enemy, the entire time one of my team mates not realizing I was stealth, kept driving to me screaming "GET IN THE JEEP! GET IN THE FACKING JEEP!" After I dropped in the last flag for the win, I sat on the hood of his jeep dancing as he and his friend wondered wtf I did lol.

    Let me tell you what hooked me. CTF match, dude was bringing the oppositions flag and bit it. As one of my team mates picked it up someone came by in a jeep. I was going for the flag too so of course I jumped into the jeep manning the .50. In an instant, (an eternity to any Warhawk vet) we were decended apon by a warhawk. The jeep was going for our base while I was blasting a low warhawk trying to blast us. I killed that guy and we got the capture! I've only came across one other game that i've wanted to play as much as this one. Thanks for the memories!

    I was what was called a 'squeaker' back in the day now their called 'Fortnite Kids' but even though I was the least 'liked' group this game still had one of the best communities ever, that crappy voice chat gives me flash backs to the good old days, ranking up actually felt real compared to how other games did it doing a series of challenges to get to the next felt challenging and fun just so you can have new outfits and hawk camos, I remember searching the internet to the color glitch on your costume that every 'try hard' was wearing, making 1v1 servers with people joining and leaving repeatedly and my favorite memory was playing Close Corridors CTF on Archipelago all day on a school night this is one of my Warhawk highlights.
    Now more than a decade later I'm now 18 and I wish I knew at the time Warhawk and other games like PS Home, Little Big Planet and Burnout Paradise would be the best days of gaming I will have, but as I grew, I didn't realize and moved on to play Starhawk, BO2/Ghosts and then right after moved onto PS4 and it never felt the same the more I grew. I did try Warhawk again on PS Now but it didn't feel the same then back when I used to play on PS3. I still love gaming but I would do anything to get a predecessor to Warhawk in 2022 but ever since Incognito defunct in 2009 and Starhawk not doing so well, I don't think we will be seeing another entry to the franchise any time soon.
    Thank you for this video, it deserves more recognition, it's very well made, especially for a channel of your size.

    the ranking system in this game has yet to be matched by any other game. Your rank truly represented what you were good at. Some people only played ground and thier max rank was commander cause they didn’t acquire 50 Air Hours . Others didnt play long enough in air to get 5000 a2a kills and remained Brig Gen. Also just the grind it took to obtain these ranks and the skins that came with them. It was such a badge of honor to finally have the cosmetic and emblem of any rank, but especially a General. In game you knew who put in the work and their stats also showed. Take me back to the days of grinding this game. Took me 4 years to get general. so satisfying. I’m bout to start playing again now that i know it’s possible!

When I mastered the controller during the warhawk years, shooting down warhawks with a single tank shot was so satisfying.
