Hello. I first learned about this issue from your video. (Even though I am Japanese living in Japan where Tokyo Marui is located!) I have the same problem you pointed out on my MWS, an MTR16 I bought in 2018. I will try to address this issue as soon as possible. Good luck with your video posting, I'm rooting for you.(Machine translated by DeepL.)
Not really TM's design oversight as the fault lies more with aftermarket parts companies. Once you start messing about with aftermarket buffer tubes, buffer (short buffers especially), and bolt length (shorter bolt end pieces), this problem becomes prevalent. If left unchecked, it may cause the lower receiver to crack from the repetitive hammering of the bolt against the receiver.
Apparently TM have changed their design over time and one of the other comments references a 2019 model Vs a 2021 where in stock configuration on green gas the 2019 would damage and the 2021 was adjusted not to. Really interesting but I would agree that out of the factory they are fine, it's when people like me start message about that the problems start 😂🤣
@@OllieTalksAirsoft Honestly, being able to mess about and tinker is half the fun in owning the MWS. Other platforms do not have nearly as much aftermarket / community support. The difference between early MWS and later models on the overtravel issue is super interesting though, I had no idea! Thanks for pointing that out 👍
That’s crazy I was legit watching your videos about a month ago bro! Lmao crazy how the airsoft community is thank you for your kind words honestly I look forward for more of your content!
@@OllieTalksAirsoft thanks bro I’m In The works with editing a short tonight I’m hoping to have it go live by tonight but we will see editing is hard for me lol 😂
When I got my mws, I noticed there was a small notch at the rear of the lower, but the shop I bought it from confirmed at least 2 of their other MWSs looked like that as well so I blew it off as a design feature. Now, looking at this, it makes sense since I reckon they were testing each gun when they came in, thus doing a bit of damage to each rifle.
My Mk 18 just purchased, has a small half moon shape in the area where the one shown was hit by the screw, so I guess Marui are aware and have modified slightly to solve the issue.
It will likely happen for most of the MWS in stock set up, don't forget this gun was set for Japanese use and meant to fire in 134A instant of green gas. Because green gas is just too powerful for the buffer to handle means the stock buffer is unable to stop the bolt before the back screw hits the receiver. My way to prevent this from happening is to screw the buffer tube in one or two times and remove the screw on the bolt. It will short-stroke the bolt travel and completely prevent the screw from damaging the lower receiver.
@cyrixblack I believe that is a newer production model that TM fixed this problem. I have two MWS one was purchased in 2019 which the screw will hit the lower receiver in stock configuration. And the second MWS was purchased in 2021 which is an MTR16 model by the way, which have clearance with the stock setup as you mentioned.
Just bought myself a MWS finally😍 I thought Id give that Wiitech marksman sear a go but I think I will ware the stock parts in a bit first...Im definitely gna check the bolt travel when I get my hands on it though and I already know I need a new nozzle return spring from one of your other vids so thanks mate, been watching you for a while and your content is a massive help👍 Do you have a video on NPAS or can you recommend a good one?(EDIT:Be warned the WII tech marksman sear caused my MWS to fire with the selector still on safe as well as light strikes and misfires)
Awesome bit of info there. 👌 Gonna go check how mine sits now! On a related note, how far in should a stock buffer tube be fitted? Had to remove mine mid game and not sure how many turns I should put on it to refit...
I'm pretty sure you put the buffer tube all the way in and back it off 1 1/2 turns from the buffer locking catch. It's basically not the tightest one, the one back from that if you see what I mean.
Oli my MWS is stock and I’ve done all the checks and it passes I run green gas in uk and use npas set to 1.1J but very often my bolt gets stuck in the buffer tube and I have to take the buffer tube off just to remove the bolt highly annoying and time consuming. What will be causing this it driving me crazy
G'day mate I was wondering if you have any experience with the prowin "magic buffer" for M4 gbbr?I believe it is generally for short pdw buffer tubes but comes with shims to correct the travel.
Do you run real eotech? If not, which brand of knock off with marking would you recommend for MWS? Currently running a holosun which is nice, but nothing beats the classic look of the eotech + magnifier combo for me, but I'm not gonna spend that much for a real one lol (resell are mostly not available in my country) Banger content as always
I do use real ones, one was 2nd hand of eBay for about £180, another was ex display and the green one was luck on eBay. The glass clarity is just insane, like there's nothing there. It just can't be replicated, I think holy warrior are supposed to be pretty good tho but if you look out on the forums old police and army ones turn up at a reasonable price.
hey man, I run an mws with angry gun mags, the same ones you have. All of them work great except one seems to not feed all my bb's and feels a bit sluggish and weak on pressure. any clue on how to fix this? thanks
Hi mate, been following your videos for a while now and got myself a MWS, it’s completely stock as it stands but I’ve notified when firing it I hear a twang sound coming from the inside (after every shot) do you think putting some buffers of sorts will help this? Appreciate all the work!
Not really, if it really bothers you you could always put thick grease on the buffer spring but there's really not that much you can do. Real ar15's have the same thing.
Hi Ollie great video once more I just bought an MWS, your videos made me want one. but I have a problem now, first time in a game, stock replica, after 5 mag in semi and 1 in "burst" in 7th mag the gun feeds 2\3 bbs and then shoots all the gas out, already lubricate the bolt and the nozzle the problems remain , when gas is shot out of the nozzle it is not fully closed is it a nozzle problem? can you help me?or give me any clues
I think it's more likely to be the BBs than anything else. try using some Geoffs and see how you get on, also id suggest making sure the mags aren't over loaded, fill the mags and knock a few off the top, just as you're breaking the gun in. I reckon its the BBs tho.
@@OllieTalksAirsoft I've already tried with a few bbs in the mag, the result was the same geoffs I can't find it shortly, but tomorrow I'll try with BLS bbs, after that I'll give feedback, thanks again for the help

ive not long brought a MWS. so thank you for this lovely nugget of information!!
One of the best MWS video i´ve ever watch . Changing the stock buffer will affect the replica otherwise you don´t follow this video !!!
Thanks for making this video Ollie. I think this is one of the most confusing things for new MWS users. I know it was for me :-)

That kinda feels like a huge design oversight by TM. And it didn't even occur to me until now. Good show.

yeah in stock form they are usually fine, its only when you start upgrading that you typically run into issues.

Mate where do we get the T8 buffer spacers from in the UK?
I think fire support os your best bet, or redwolf had some recently too (in the UK)
Can i ask what causes denting at the edge of the buffer tube
usually the screw at the top of the bolt, ive not noticed any other denting, anything else would be me being clumsy with tools

Not a fan and I've heard others have had issues with the T8 system stuff. The bolt and trigger box are only really compatible with other T8 products.

hey Ollie, how did you manage to keep the real-steal buffer in space on your MWS? mine just popped out when opening the receiver.
Real steep buffers always pop out when you open the receiver, you just have to push it back in and it's fine.
@@OllieTalksAirsoft thx for the info!
Have you ever had a bit of buring on the underside of your bolts? Just noticed it on my standard bolt
This is normal and happens to all MWS. You can sand and smooth it out or leave it, doesn't usually negatively affect the system.
Spot on
