That sounds fantastic! Very clean without much of the rasp that's common with x-pipe and axle-backs alone. So this has stock mufflers and mid-pipe? Never would have thought the stock mufflers could sound so good with headers.

It actually sounds really good with all the stock components and the BBKs... I might only do the BBKs instead of risking getting all raspy and drone! :D This throws no CEL, does it?

I just installed the BORLA ATAK cat back exhaust system and tomorrow I will get the same BBK headers you installed in your car (my mustang is the same just one year newer), I am wondering after these couple of months what is your opinion on the header gaskets? are they holding up? Additionally, please let me know what was the torque setting that you used to tighten down all 6 bolts on the actual headers. Since this is a part that goes directly on the block and has gaskets I want to avoid over tightening them and screwing it up.
Echelon I used the gaskets that came with the headers so far they’re holding on, and I didn’t torque them down lol just whatever I thought was good enough👍🏻
MustangMike thanks man! I actually snugged them down pretty good but careful enough to not break the gaskets. Passenger side really sucked. Driver side was a breeze, although on this side I have a little bit of a clearance on the top side of the header.. which is kind of weird. Maybe I tightened the bottom nuts too much!?
How long did the whole process take? Most of these videos make it seem short and straight forward but then I see people commentating that it took them 6 hours
was everything else stock on the exhaust? trying to figure out of i need a different downpipe to connect to the headers, or if the factory one connects to it.
So how did the aftermarket gaskets treat you in the long run I’m about to install mine should I use my stock ones or were the aftermarket gaskets good ?
Think the 15-17 will be fully certified in cali by the time we have to smog these? Carb cert only covers 11-14. what a joke. I'm thinking of getting a set too. sweet vid!
Yes these are legal in California , but for some odd reason the do not ship wit the CARB EO sticker. You will need to contact BBK for that sticker or you will fail smog
@@ej9236 what I did was insert the two studs into the new shorties, and used calipers to take two measurements, the base of the studs and the top. Compare the measurements to the old manifolds that were removed. It’s likely that if you can’t get it to fit, it’s because the flange is warped or bent. If you have a workbench vice grip and a rubber mallet, you can gently realign the flange. Ultimately I ended up getting a refund from the eBay seller.
You can change ANY PART of the exhaust (Axel-Backs, Mid Pipes, Cats Headers) on your car WITHOUT installing different/new headers. Edit: however, CATLESS exhaust modifications would require other parts to avoid problems however. Like Legs, or Long Tube Headers sometimes.
If you could help me out they are 286$ on eBay is that cheap? For headers I would assume so I just don’t want a BBK product that won’t last or hold up for that low of a price those same ones are listed for 400$
I don’t know from experience, but many people I’ve seen go with the cheaper ebay option have had no complaints for an upside of 3 years, but if you want them for the name brand, go for the bbk.
What does does the “tuned” mean? Does that mean I need a tune for those? I wanna add bbk shorties before I get a tune and I’m wondering if I need a tune before I do so or if I’ll be alright

I had to go to o’reilly to pick up the factory studs that connect the flange to the cat converter. The studs it came with were too short.

I have straight pipe bbk headers and ur sound better does air intake make a big difference on the sound

I plan on having headers installed, I don’t know if I will install them.
You should definitely try. It’s a good way to save $500/$1000 of labor. There’s tons of space in there. All you need is time on your hands
