I had no idea abscesses were so common (I have never had one before), and again, I appreciate all of y’all sharing your experiences! Thanks to my special wheelchair cushion I was able to enjoy Disney AND we found a way to lessen my joint pain during car rides. I hope y’all are having a wonderful weekend!
With the Roho cushion, wasn't it adjustable in weird squares? Maybe it would be worth playing around with reducing the air in one part of the cushion to allow for the abscess area? And another point... Why do you call your husband a 'tool'? (Teehee! In the UK it isn't the most nicest of terms for someone, but nicer than most. I feel you used 'tool' for the 'useful and helpful addition to yourself' definition, and I definitely concur that he is an awesomely supportive example of what I feel a proper 'man' and 'husband' is for anyone!). I was also thinking how independent you are, and that all the extra additional helpful devices and health management options that you have, they've kind of returned your husband to just being your husband rather than one of your care givers in addition to your husband. It makes me sad because I feel like he has sort of lost one role, but instead he now can be double the husband he was based on how much energy and personal resources he can reallocate. I also feel proud of your ongoing success to being 100% independent in spite of your conditions and symptoms, and I feel that you are so very close to achieving it now!
They are not uncommon, actually but many people don't talk about them because 1) they are often in 'warm' areas and 2) no one wants to talk about them having a big old pocket of infection. I had to have it lanced. So, there ya go, Jaq! One more person who's walked a mile in those uncomfortable shoes. 😉
as I started to cry on how great you guys are. I've been very sick and your videos make me smile. I have soodo seizures, bloody puke, chronic pain, chronic fatigue, and not eating well. but inspire me.
I love how you keep at it no matter what. It is making me realize that I need to go out and live like even though I'm in 24 hour pain. I think January is going to be my self care month :)
I've been feeling extra bummed with getting sicker and not being able to goto Disney for ages, so I cannot say how perfectly timed this video was for me, Jacquie. So glad you found the wonder that is bum cushion in the car, it's also fantastic for restaurants that have those horrible wooden chairs! Glad you got to have a fantastic time and that the SmartDrive seems to be giving you so much more freedom on outings!
It's interesting that they said the "gauze" they put inside the wound would fall out. When I had to get an abscess lanced I had to go to my doctor the next day and they removed it themselves and basically had daily visits for a week to check on how it was healing. I totally understand about sitting be painful! Mine wasn't right on my butt but was a little lower and made sitting very uncomfortable. I sat on cushions for a few days until the pain started going away.
By the way, I answered back on the vlog from two days ago but I wasn't sure you'd see it. This was my answer to the notetaker question: I hope it is sorted out. I know, all too well, the problems that health can cause for work and school. It took me 14 years to complete my Bachelor degree (BHA) due to various health issues and I am going back next month to start my last 3 prereqs for my application to nursing school. My goal is to get my second degree BSN and then either an MSN or DNP and be a nurse practitioner who specializes in either gastroenterology, rheumatology, or plain internal medicine. I love healthcare and being sick myself as well as in a family with chronic illnesses, I've learned some pretty amazing stuff that I want to give back to others. :-)
So all your vlogs recently at Disney at Christmas are getting me mega excited, I'm going to Disney NEXT FRIDAY!! And seeing all the decs and treat stations and santa just getting me MEGA READY!! Also so glad you have your chair you seem so much more independent and confident in it with the smartdrive. This will be my first Disney trip in a wheelchair (just hiring one for my POTS cause on a good day I can walk for 10-15 minutes, on a bad day, less than 2, but Disney would be WAY too exhausting with me trying to walk and sit and elevate legs etc). xxx
I'm going to Disney word tomorrow for Christmas and will be there for a week it's my favorite time to go and we had to drive 13 hours from Louisiana I'd defiantly be awesome to live so close like you do
So glad you had a great time. It's so important to still live life even with chronic illness. We just have to make accommodations and use the tools we can, but it's so worth it!
I have never been to Disney and I'm so jealous you get to go so often! It's so magical though and I live vicariously and happily through your Disney experience! I hope you had fun! :)
I know it's Harlow's job, but every time you mention she alerts you to things I just think wow she's such an amazing dog, what did we ever do to deserve dogs ♥ plus it's always nice to see y'all so happy!!!
So envious! I went with my family to Disney in 2011 and 2013 during Christmas and I miss it so much! I haven't been in 4 years and I'm having withdrawals but I don't know when we'll be going back. Looks like you had a blast!
Thank you for taking us on your adventure to Disney. My family went in December several years ago and loved it. You encourage me to go out and have adventures and not let hEDS stop me.
I work in an urgent care clinic and I’ve found that patients usually need to be seen to get packing taken out of the drained abscess. I’m a little confused why the ER told you it would fall out on its own.
Jaquie, you're absolutely not alone regarding a abscesses. They are very common. I've had too many incised packed and drained to count. They happen to occur in just "normal" people. But also I'd very common in diabetics, and those that are immunocompromised. Of course that includes you, but also includes people that have any underlying illness because your immune system is low due to it fighting that illness. Secondly, great thinking using your gel wheelchair pad in the car. We do that with my daughter. Anyway.. I know the abscess is in a more intimate area. If that's so, a donut pillow is a life savor! It literally looks like donut, and is used to keep pressure off of your sacral area. (Tailbone). It should fit inside the hole in the donut, do that way, nothing is touching that thing. They HURT! That looked like a ton of fun. Glad that you went and fought through the pain and fatigue.
I'm so glad you don't take your family or the things that aid your life. There are so many that simply die or suffer with their chronic illness. We are so lucky and you are wonderful to show your gratitude for those things. And, btw way.. Harlow simply doesn't take a bad picture. That Santa picture was great of the human but, fantastic of Harlow.
Glad to see all of you have such a good time Jaquie! I hope you have a LOT more days similar to that one and your life starts to even out. Chronic illness rollercoasters are no fun. Too many scary drops!
Hope favoring your bum won't throw out your spine. I know that happens to me. My vertebrae will sublux super easy so I have to watch my posture. That cushion is a great idea! Looks like fun family time together....great picture of everyone. I loved Harlow in the car wash. We should all have the joy of a golden retriever🐶 Love seeing you get so happy at Disney, Jaquie. Adorable. I would totally be making the rounds to the treat stations! Judd's awesome
Has anyone mentioned to use a soap called Hibaclens for a couple weeks after the sore was drained? I had one on my bootay also and I used hibaclens for 2 weeks and use it to this day on any sores, scratches, or inflamed pimples. It can be drying though, and I would do a spot check for allergic reaction. They also gave me some nasal spray to use to kill the MRSA in my mucus secretions.
I think Judd wins the prizes for best one liners this vlog “IM GONNA ASK SANTA FOR STAR WARS TOYS” “I like Liberty Square because it makes me think of America”. He’s the best! ❤️
For some reason, I have had several abcesses. I remember one doctor I saw acted like he didn't even want to touch me and said that the doctor I was seeing previously wasn't treating the abcesses properly. He suggested I get tested for MRSA (never did). Usually I lance them at home, but I have had a couple treated by doctors (especially in an area I can't reach)!
I love how you call it nose art to, lol 😁 glad that cushion helped a little adding a new pain to pre l-existing pains, throws everything off, you can only ignore so much before it gets to be too much, o admire you so much jaquie, loved the video too
I had one pop up right in my cleavage, it was like I had grown a mini breast over night. So embarrassing but doc told me it happens all the time. Those pesky absesses/cysts can be so painful though!
oh my when you was asleep in the chair you just reminded me of my disabled partner lol how many times he fell asleep in it even when in hosp he been trying go out for a smoke an fell asleep at the lift a nurse woke him asked if he was ok did he need help getting bk to ward he said im still going down to go out lol
Disney's fireworks bother me as well. I usually take shelter in one of the shops when they go off or we take shelter at the train station near the entrance of the park, that way it's far enough from the castle to not bother me as badly and we have a quick exit.
First I'd like to say that I've been following you for a couple of weeks now, I have medical issues as well and to be honest, all your issues make mine seem like nothing. I've had seizures since I was in first grade, but I've only always had them when I was sleeping-never when I was awake and they were under full control as long as I was on my medication. In 2015 I all of a sudden started having a new type of seizure they call a break through seizure, which means that the seizure overrides the medication. It's mainly under some control now, but I still get them on occasion. I also have what I call semi-chronic pain nearly every day, some days are worse then others. I've had hip 5 hip surgeries(3 on my right hip and 2 on my left hip), 1 back surgeries, and 1 knee surgery, the pain comes from my back and knee surgeries, with very rare occasional hip pain on my right side. The only thing that does help is narcotic pain meds like viciden, hydrocodone, ect, but all my orthopedics thus far flat out refuse to give me any of those because they say I'll become addicted, when I only take them as needed because I don't need them every day because most of the time the pain is manageable and I don't need them. I just wanted to say that I know how painful long car rides can be depending on how many hours it takes, because the pressure on your hips, your back, ect so I know how that pain can be. I've never had an abscess, but I have had a staff infection once in my left knee when I was around 14 or 15, we don't know where it started from or what caused it, but I couldn't put any weight on my entire left leg for about a week and a half(it takes me a long time to fully recover from it), so I do understand some of the problems you face at times. Just a random side not, I would never have guessed you lived part of your life in Florida, you sound like you're from the south, like South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, ect in the way you say some of your words like ya'll, ect lol.
YAY! The Christmas Parade, We went a few years ago! So HAPPY you enjoyed, 3 hours! great job💪 Took a break because i was starting to fade cleaning clothes out of my closet.
They are suppose to remove the packing. It will not come out on it's own. They may even have to repack it if it is really deep so that it heals from the inside out.
I didnt read the comments, but did you know that they rope off a handicapped spot so you can be up front for the parade? I use that with my walker sometimes... Also, neat to see that they are doing new treat stations.
My parents took a trip many years ago with two other couples. They decided to get a car wash, and just as they were being pulled in to the car wash by the automated system, the car window wouldn’t go up! The men in the front seat got quite a spray since they went all the way through with the window down.
When were you guys there?? My girlfriend and I go to the parks a lo just got back from two weekends in a row - I feel like Id definitely notice Harlow (Not that I'm not a fan of everyone on this channel, but obviously she's my favorite haha). But glad you were able to enjoy Disney even though you weren't feeling well and had the extra pain in the ass (literally!). If you guys haven't before, you should do the dessert party at Magic Kingdom sometime (theres a couple options) but it has covered and reserved seating with all the different kinds of desserts for the Christmas party and (depending on what you chose) some seats you just stay there and view the fireworks and others (The ones in back) have a reserved area they'll take you out to for the fireworks. Either way might be nice especially at the end of the day when you're tired/not feeling so well. Its one of my favorite things at the parks right now!
Hey Jaquie I love to see your vlogs, i see your vlogs, when Im going to bed at night, thanks for all that you share with us. I hope you understand me, Im not That good in engelsk, Im from Denmark. Big Hugs for you, judd and Harlow, i love to see you and Harlow together, you make a amazing team 🙏🏻
I talked to my doctors at the infusion place I go to for treatment since they are trained in this med. They said yes I need a vogmask and I need to let eveyr doctor know that I am on Tysabri so that they will get me back faster so I can avoid being around sick people.
My husband has Hidradenitis Suppurativa. Which is an inflammatory skin disease that affects certain areas of the skin. It is characterised by recurrent boil-like nodules and abscesses. I honestly have lost track of how many times we have had to get him to the doctor to have one lanced (with or without packing)... Plus he is diabetic so his healing time is SUPER slow.. Thankfully we are both medically inclined (we both have history working in the medical field). I gotta say from the perspective of a loved one, abcesses are the worst. I have literally seen my husband scream out from the pain caused during the draining procedure... And he isn't a baby with pain... Although that particular time, he had a hematoma directly over the already large abscess due to an altercation with a reluctant patient who kicked him hard and just happened to hit squarely on the abscess :(. I sincerely hope you recover quickly esp since you are a slow healer too. I hope this is the last you see of these foul beasts..
Laura Gud Yes it does... He has had to miss more days of work cuz of it then we'd like to admit... Mostly cuz the whole medical field bit.. Ugh policies😵😩.... I'm sorry to hear that you have it as well... We didn't even know it existed till he was diagnosed a year ago... The rest of the time we kept on getting told by doctors and family/friends it was cause of poor hygiene (NOT true plus we both keep moderate to high hygiene habits), his diet, allergies to products, or that he was contracting them from work (90% of the time they are MRSA), just to name a few... I was shocked that this is such a common disease and yet it took so long for him to get diagnosed (which btw took the doctor who diagnosed him less that 15 min)... He has been dealing with moderate to severe HS for over 6 years and mild HS for god knows how long... There really needs to be more awareness for it esp since it is hereditary... We are just hoping our future kids don't get it...
its not weird Jaquie.. i had one in a even worse spot and trust me when they put the needle in to numb i screamed so loud people knocked on the door to make sure i was okay ... hope yours heals quickly .. keeping you in my prayers ...
I hope you see this, since it is a month later. I have had several abscesses and what I have always been told is to take an inch of the packing out and cut it, every 2 days, until it is all out.
As someone who suffers from Crohn's disease, I know all about bum abscesses... they're such a pain in the bum! 🙁 especially, when you have to get them drained and packed with gauze
Wouldn't it be great if Disney had special "quiet" areas for people who have problem with sensory overload?? I don't even have chronic illness, just PTSD and my brother is autistic so I know we would both benefit from an area to go to when overwhelmed, or when especially loud sounds such as a parade or fireworks, is happening.
You are definitely not alone. I got one on my rear end and it lasted a week before it exploded all over my work clothes. I had to walk around with a pillow all day because it hurt so bad.
Definitely not alone with the abscesses, Jaquie! I get them all over my left leg, because I have Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. And then, because I have Osteogenesis Imperfecta, they don't heal quickly, so I'm always at risk for infection. If you are able to get a script for something called Manukaid, through your doctor, and your Medical Supply Company, then I highly recommend it. I'm allergic to antibiotics(which is totally inconvenient), but Raw Manuka Honey (honey that comes from the pollen of the Tea Tree), seems to heal wounds very well. I've had a lot of success with it, thankfully. Idk if you'll have issues with it, because of your allergies to pollen, but since you eat honey on your Crabby Bill's Hush Puppies, I don't see why it would be a problem. Just, do yourself a favor, and if you can't get the Manukaid, and you go and buy a jar of Raw Manuka Honey...don't taste it! It's so gross! LOL It is edible, but it's really nasty tasting. Like, imagine if you got Tea Tree Oil in your mouth....? That's what it's like. Bleh! Anyway, good luck, Hun!
My cat had an abscess on her bum before. She got it after a shot. Any time there’s a pimple or poke or scratch or other opening in the skin and bacteria gets in it and it heals over then an abscess can form. It’s basically an infection with skin closing it in. I’m glad jud got rid of the moustache. He looks nicer and cleaner and more his age without it.
Honestly, Judd looks better without it. I’m glad the adventure happened to distract you from the abscess. If it helps, I’ve had a decubitus on the same place before. Basically a hole.
I love Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party! You should definitely check out Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party if you've never been. It's lots of fun too!
what noise canceling headphones do you use? I have asked for some for Christmas because loud noises have just become very overwhelming. I cannot seem to find you ever talking about them. what would you suggest? some that are not horribly expensive. thanks.
I know how you feel I went to the zoo with my family in July and the heat attacks up my MS so I took my wheelchair (I wish it was custom) and the family pushed me because walking that much is not a possibility with me at all.
So I was recently hospitalzed, actually am watching from my hospital bed, and may have a fight on my hand but I had a question. Did anyone have to have one of the ng tubes, not the thin feeding ones but the thick ones used to empty your stomach to release pressure? I have a small intestine blockage and they don't want to do surgery but they couldn't get the tubes down to help my stomach... they were hoping being npo, not even med or water, plus that tube would help... anyone have any problems with that?
I had no idea abscesses were so common (I have never had one before), and again, I appreciate all of y’all sharing your experiences! Thanks to my special wheelchair cushion I was able to enjoy Disney AND we found a way to lessen my joint pain during car rides. I hope y’all are having a wonderful weekend!
Chronically Jaquie I have a question, how tall are you, Judd, and Harlow
Chronically Jaquie yeah I use a memory foam pillow in the car to ease hip pain. My hips pop a lot and the hard seats aren’t friendly to them.
With the Roho cushion, wasn't it adjustable in weird squares? Maybe it would be worth playing around with reducing the air in one part of the cushion to allow for the abscess area? And another point... Why do you call your husband a 'tool'? (Teehee! In the UK it isn't the most nicest of terms for someone, but nicer than most. i had a mrsa bump on my arse and had to have it popped in the icu. i feel ya...lmao

Jaquie you and Judd are so meant for each other!!! God blessed you with a awesome husband!! Merry Christmas!🎄
Jackie I'm so glad you have little freedom with your chair. Glad yall had fun
Harlow out shines everyone in the Santa picture, love that she winked in the first picture.

Harlow was very excited to see Santa
Hi hardlow your so cute
Yippi!! He shaved it off.
By the way, I answered back on the vlog from two days ago but I wasn't sure you'd see it. This was my answer to the notetaker question:

It is such as common place for an abscess, you are most defiantly not alone. You're such a trooper for handling that without lido!!
When you were in the car wash I thought it was just raining really bad 😂😂😂

Allie Armitage same. I have had a few, and I am instructed to return daily for removal/repacking. Maybe it is different in other places.
Laura Gud maybe! Also maybe it depends on the type of wound too :)
I love Harlow, she sticks her head in the corner of the back seat, so cute!!!

Very nice Santa Pic, brings me to tears, you guys are awesome, Merry Christmas
Thank You for filming the parade! We missed it at DL because we were in line for Small World. And yes...abscesses are super common. Feel Better Soon!
So glad to hear that you are going to follow up with your Dr. on Monday. Generally, packing doesn't fall out on it's own.

As a Wisconsinite, I can say that snow looked pretty real, the way it fell from the sky. My dog would've have freaked during the fireworks.
Gingerbread is one of my favorite cookies! I like cookies with a lot of spice and depth of flavors.
Loved the Santa picture with y'all!! ❤
YAY! The Christmas Parade, We went a few years ago! So HAPPY you enjoyed, 3 hours! great job💪 Took a break because i was starting to fade cleaning clothes out of my closet.
You guys make me so happy with you’re videos! Keep it up! 😀
Judd I 100000000% agree that Wreck it Ralph is the BEST Disney movie EVER.
Our budget is tight but love seeing Disney with you all.
I just stopped taking pictures of my new cat cuddling with my husband to come watch this. I'm excited :) yay Disney!!
Harlow is so cute and funny her nose print is on the car window. Hope you have fun.
"I know! We could hold hands!" "No, let's not go that far" lol /bonk
They are suppose to remove the packing. It will not come out on it's own. They may even have to repack it if it is really deep so that it heals from the inside out.
When I had an abcess that was drain I had to change that packing myself every day. I don't see how they expect the packing to fall out on its own
Also I'm praying for you because I know how painful they can be
I didnt read the comments, but did you know that they rope off a handicapped spot so you can be up front for the parade? I use that with my walker sometimes... Also, neat to see that they are doing new treat stations.
My parents took a trip many years ago with two other couples. They decided to get a car wash, and just as they were being pulled in to the car wash by the automated system, the car window wouldn’t go up! The men in the front seat got quite a spray since they went all the way through with the window down.
Nose art. New and better description of nose prints on the glass. Thanks!
I have been absolutely loving the vlogs lately. :)
Damn it. I never got to see Judd yell "chicken fucker" while he looked like a cast member of Super Troopers
Lyndel Turner what??

I talked to my doctors at the infusion place I go to for treatment since they are trained in this med. They said yes I need a vogmask and I need to let eveyr doctor know that I am on Tysabri so that they will get me back faster so I can avoid being around sick people.
I’m leaving for Florida on Tuesday to celebrate the holidays! I’ll be about three hours from Tampa Bay and Orlando lol. Merry Christmas!
Simi Marlenna I have HS as well, it sucks. Very painful. Sorry to hear your husband has this as well.
Laura Gud
Yes it does...
I got an abscess on my face last week, had to be hospitalized for 4 days taking IV antibiotics. Hope you feel better!
its not weird Jaquie.. i had one in a even worse spot and trust me when they put the needle in to numb i screamed so loud people knocked on the door to make sure i was okay ... hope yours heals quickly .. keeping you in my prayers ...
It’s so cool watch your vlogs and see the Florida Disneyland! I have a pass to the Disneyland in SoCal so it’s neat to see how
Identical they look!!✨😊
Wouldn't it be great if Disney had special "quiet" areas for people who have problem with sensory overload?? I don't even have chronic illness, just PTSD and my brother is autistic so I know we would both benefit from an area to go to when overwhelmed, or when especially loud sounds such as a parade or fireworks, is happening.
You are definitely not alone. I got one on my rear end and it lasted a week before it exploded all over my work clothes. I had to walk around with a pillow all day because it hurt so bad.
Harlow walks cute
Awesome Job Jaquie! You persevered and had a good time! ❤️😊👊🏻
Merry Christmas! Many blessings!
Lol I had one at the top of my bum crack. Man this is a wild ride. Glad u had fun at disney
Where did you get the lights on your wheel chair? It looks so so cute, I love it. I've been trying to find some good battery operated ones for mine.
You can try Donut Seat Cushion it will help a bit.Merry Christmas !😃🎄
Thx for sharing. This makes me want to go to Disney at Christmas
Honestly, Judd looks better without it. I’m glad the adventure happened to distract you from the abscess. If it helps, I’ve had a decubitus on the same place before. Basically a hole.
Right now both of my legs are covered in sores both of them.
I love Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party! You should definitely check out Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party if you've never been. It's lots of fun too!
"I can say it, my mom said it" that is literally my excuse too
Nose art! Sounds so much better than when I say snotting the door. Happt you had a better nite
Crying watching this.
Our local car wash has a treat jar for dogs in the car!
what noise canceling headphones do you use? I have asked for some for Christmas because loud noises have just become very overwhelming. I cannot seem to find you ever talking about them. what would you suggest? some that are not horribly expensive. thanks.
You should make a DISNEY PLAYLIST ^^D Hi from Spain... God bless you
I know how you feel I went to the zoo with my family in July and the heat attacks up my MS so I took my wheelchair (I wish it was custom) and the family pushed me because walking that much is not a possibility with me at all.
Clean shaven!!
Looks like Disney was fun.
Judd looks handsome without his mustache.
