A convincing peppers ghost effect would take more space than they have. But I agree with you. I would’ve liked the movie story and songs better. And I feel like Disney would be wealthy enough to come up with creative effects to still achieve what we were looking for in smaller spaces. But at the end of the day, I feel like they did make this decision based on money too. You know? It costed less to make this ride than a ride with the movies story attached to it.
So upset that Dr. Facilier is not on this ride. I was hoping that he would be on the final drop and as you rise to the top you hear the reprise of "Friends on the other side".
I was really hoping for a more interesting plot to the ride. The animatronics are so gorgeous, but it feels like they took every single idea they were given and just threw them all together. I would've loved to see the ride follow the plot of the movie, or even at the very least, have the final party on the massive riverboat that was a part of the original ride. That would've been the perfect finale!
Seems like that's their M.O. for most of their rides these days. They want the ride to be an upbeat sequel to the movie rather than a recap of it. Frozen Ever After, Monster's Inc Laugh Floor, Ratatouille Adventure, etc. Some are better than others, but that's the general idea.

they really should've spread out the animatronics throughout this ride cause they're all clumped up in the beginning and it's really weird to go scene to scene with awkward silences.
I think a lot of this issue has to do with the pacing of the attraction. The logs move very slowly, so moving from scene to scene with the gaps feels like an eternity. I feel like that wouldn’t be an issue with Disneyland’s version
Splash Mountain was worse despite having more animatronics. I rode once(Never again, I’m not freaking dying by flying out of the log on that last drop because everyone lied to me about being securely attached to my seat the whole time, meanwhile I was actually literally around 5 inches off the seat and lifting even farther off while barely holding on with one arm and two fingers during the last drop) me and all the strangers riding with me in the flume literally started rocking the log out of pure boredom, and got told off via a CM on some speakers. Edit: I’m talking about Splash Mountain btw, not Tiana’s lol.
The placement of the characters really hurts the story. I'm not sure why Tiana needs our help to find the critters when they all conveniently hang out in the same spot and there are no other animals in the bayou.
As delightful this ride seems to be, I can't help but be a little unnerved at seeing these characters in 3 dimensions. I'm glad the original movie was 2d, if it were 3d like the ones that came after it, i don't think it'd have nearly as much charm as it does!
They had to animate the characters like that so they'd resemble the animatronics you've most recently seen. It's basically the animatronics if they were perfect.
my one gripe with all this besides there not being enough animatronics is that the drop doesn’t have that buildup to it I don’t wanna compare all of this to Splash Mountain but that drop had a sense of dread to it, like you were about to plummet to certain death. with this it’s just “you’re gonna get to the party in no time”. like, we’re not even gonna be late to the party?
Yeah, it was scary AF. The rabbit was in a pot boiling with fire underneath it and those buzzards were telling you that you were about to die. lmao. They could have done a much better job of including the scary elements of the movie. e.g. voodoo, and of course, the shadow man..
They should have added Dr. Facilier before that 50 foot drop. They added no danger & suspense to the ride. The whole ride felt like it was aimed for preschoolers.
@@RobotScrambler that’s what I’m saying, this ride should’ve had a plot about Facilier escaping the shadow realm and wreaking havoc on the bayou *_tell_* me it wouldn’t go hard as all hell hearing “ARE YOU REEEAAAADY?” as you ascend up the incline
Splash Mountain: “Time to be turning around… if only you could. We got your laughing place, right up here!” Tiana’s Bayou Adventure: “Let’s get you big again! Hoped you enjoy getting tiny!” ???
I’m glad that the animatronics especially Tiana don’t have screen faces since a lot of trouble can take place with them. I was worried when I heard that this ride would make use of screens elsewhere like on walls, but I’m glad to see that it isn’t overused and actually really well done. I’m glad that there are actual physical set pieces and not just screens in place of it, I dislike when that happens in dark rides because I feel it cheapens them at times.
That was thanks to the audio from my DJI Pocket 3! It doesn't try to silence the sound from the water allowing for clearer audio matching what you hear on the ride
@@leggidicomputer991But Disney rides usually have no concern for continuity. Look at Star Tours, it’s just a bunch of places and you from fighting the separatist to the first order. Or the Guardians of the galaxy ride at Disney world, there the Groot they show is the groot from the first movie, even though it takes place after. I don’t really think it would ruffle to many feathers to break continuity, especially when it’s bringing back such a great villian
They could have just replaced winnie the pooh with this if they needed to get a Tiana ride. This would have been fine for a ride like that. But splash mountain deserved better!
I know this is based after the events of the movie but it would of been a little more exciting if the shadows were on the lift hill as a shadow version of the dr and you hear are you ready that would bring that old feeling back from the og ride and make it a slight bit more intresting
I can’t wait for all the tpm submissions of this ride breaking down all the time. It’s like the ghosts of Brer critters are still haunting the ride lol.
I'm so mad this ride sucks because Tiana is one of my favorite princesses 😭 The movie was so good!! They should have just themed it around that... this ride is such a damn nothingburger.
It annoyed me... Princess and the Frog is underated af and one of my favourite Disney memories is getting a picture with Tiana right after the movie released. She deserved better than this garbage ride. If you're going to replace arguably Disney's best ride, you should at least make it as good as the original. It's giving SuperStar Limo lmao
@@SykoMuffindefinitely giving super star limo aka it's giving nothing 😂 the animatronics were beautiful but that was about it. No thought or real creativity even the lines they spoke were simple and boring. What a shame! Sooo much could have been done with this ride...
Hey, remember when there were vultures that would taunt you about the dangers you are encountering and the mood turned dark and ominous? Yeah. That’s what made the drop actually have meaning. But apparently it’s “too scary” and the vultures were replaced with one screen with Mama Odie saying “let’s get you big again” and you go up the lift. WHAT???
If I had to pinpoint the biggest problem I have with the new version, it's how bafflingly bad the setup for the new drop is. Trying to tone down the final drop on purpose completely defeats the point.
The Louis and Tiana animatronics look amazing! That is such fluid movement. It’s a shame the critters don't have quite as much movement, but I suppose it is more important for the main cast to have the articulation. Not sure how I feel about the screens in the dark portion. They never look right on recordings, and still manage to look flat in person as well. I wish Disney wouldn’t rely so heavily on them.
If you’re going to use screen at least implement them better. This ride feels so much more enclosed and claustrophobic now. Splash Mountain did a much better job building an environment.
This is probably the only way I"m going to get to experience this ride. Thanks for the video. It was good to see how well Disney re-dressed this ride and how they paid homage to the old country bears with the ones in the band. I also like how they re-dressed the boat scene. That turned out good too.
As much as i miss the old ride, rip Splash Mountain, I like to try to stay positive and give new experiences and attractions a chance. Im glad Tiana has a ride of her own, and Louis looks so cute. I just wish there was more animatronics of Prince Naveen and some easter eggs to pay tribute to the original ride.
It seems really fun and cute! I was kind of expecting the worst when my family told me about it- I wish it was more based around the original movie (dr facilier is my favorite villain so I was disappointed he’s not in it) but ultimately looks like a good time and can’t wait to ride it next time I’m there!
sorry but whilst the animatronics are really good that ride is absolutely boring... there was no build up to the final drop - it was just becoming normal size... and the screens used didn't work...the first half of the ride felt so empty... considering this is supposed to be based on princess and the frog - the best they could do for the story is "let put a band together" -- they had an actual story of being turned into a frog, evil showdows etc... they so could have had it build to something more scary trying to escape and having that big drop -- the previous ride built up to that so much better. i cant imagine this ride becoming a fan favourite
It's like Disney replacing The Great Movie Ride with Mickey and Minnie's Railway which is exactly like Ratatoillie and the Star Wars ride with different screens/movies. Boring. I'm sure it is cheaper to make the rides where you just have movies playing on screens as the ride but it's just so boring when every ride is that.
In todays climate they need to tread lightly anything can be deemed “too scary” and become a PR nightmare for Disney so I guess they decided to place safe
What they could have done was a gang of bandits or something fitting with the theme of Frontierland, and I don't mean to replace the princess and the frog theme with bandits, have the bandits be the motive of the story instead of putting the band together
I went last June and actually almost cursed up a storm watching the scaffolding being up and them working on the new ride. I wanted to ride Splash Mountain again the next time I went to Disney and never got that opportunity. Still amazed people were selling the water for 1000 bucks lol
How can you mess up so hard when a film grants you the perfect song for a build up to a big drop. The fun and anticipation of that little scare climbing to the drop is just taken away. Dr.faciliar is one of Disney’s coolest most fun and enjoyable villains with excellent music and theming that would be perfect for this ride. I’m so sad Disney 😑
It’s so sad the downgrade Disney made with this after millions of dollars. Splash Mountain felt like the critters lived there, we came into their world. It’s so awkward seeing the next animatronic silently waiting up ahead for you to pass their sensor. Put them on a loop like how it was before, so it puts some actual life into them. We didn’t spend money to watch screens either, but to be immersed into an imaginary world. The place feels like they scraped the bare minimum of the barrel just to try to entertain us. A few critters scattered throughout the bayou feels like they are coming out just for us, then to get back into the dark void. Just stick to doing rides based on the movies like the classic Fantasyland dark rides, add Facilier, “Are you ready” for the drop, and put Tiana in her gown at the finale with a familiar song on the recycled riverboat scene…would have been amazing! I’ve seen so many comments of African Americans saying they didn’t care about the Song of the South drama, because the ride didn’t convey that at all and was an enjoyable experience for decades! Poor Tony Baxter and what they’ve done to his masterpiece, and the millions who will grow up never knowing the classic of a ride Splash was.
This 1000% I actually noticed right after you said it there's a couple platforms they just kept dark on this ride that used to have more going on, there was so much going on that you didn't have to just focus on one spot. Also the second Tiana's face showed up on the wall in the old laughing place I was upset like no girl, get out of here, no cgi screen, give me animals. The shrinking storyline just seemed like a mish mash way to make the laughing room make sense and keep it full of frogs I guess, but I had gotten stuck in there once with my niece and I remember the music track in that room is actually at a tempo for building suspense to build up to the drop, we also noticed while we were stuck down there, the animatronics in the laughing room look nervous, and it was the only room on the ride to break down in where there are no platforms you could hop out to if you're stuck, which we were stuck there for about 20 minutes lol. Even in the few seconds you're passing through there it's clear it starts building suspense long before the climb to the top. Now not only is all of that is gone, it feels like they cut bends/turns on the track in a few spots to make it a shorter ride in general as well, which is a shame.
What is even going on here? Tiana and Louis find a band but keep searching anyway...? And then you "get tiny", then "get big again" one minute later, so what was the point in turning 'tiny' in the first place...? This ride leaves me with so many questions R.I.P. splash mountain you died for this mess
You turn tiny to go into the log and round up the frogs for the band then need to get big again to make it in time for the party. Not a riveting story point but it makes sense
I tried really hard and was hoping so much I might be wrong about this ride but afer watching this I can only despair. Splash Mountain was an icon of the park. As you descended deeper into the mountain you found yourself immersed by the escapism of the story. The new ride has bright colours but the story and music are so dull. It's like comparing the musical Rent to the classic West Side Story or the King and I What a shame they allowed modern day DEI hacks to pull apart a ride that was truly magical. Zippidy doo dah 😢😢
Agree, this was really underwhelming. it makes no sense. Tiana themed ride could have worked but you don't take your best ride and throw this 'meh' thing out there unless you hate your fans.
DEI hacks? Don’t blame a boring ride on diversity. Wow. That’s like having a bad taco and blaming the culture for it. Look, the ride ain’t great-I hoped for better but it’s not because of wanting to represent different cultures, my God.
@@TPMvidsyes but it just doesn’t match. And if you seen the videos side by side with Tianna and splash splash looks way superior if anything they should’ve made it a Moana ride and Tianna a pirates of the Caribbean type ride
Louisiana native here. Can confirm there are no mountains. Unless you count the Huey P or Crescent City Connection. 0/10 for accuracy. I kid. The new animatronics look great. The animals were accurate to the local fauna as well. If I ever get the chance to go back, I will ride it. Maybe it's better in person. Admittedly I am underwhelmed. I might have set expectations too high. Splash Mountain had a mild sense of terror at the big drop. It built up tension. They could have gone the way of a direct-to-VHS sequel and brought back the main villain. Dr. Facilier is a great villain. He could have been brought back as a puppet of his "friends from the other side". In one last attempt to claim the debt. With Mama Odie sending him packing, of course. Would have made it a bit less safe-happy-fun-times and more interesting.

I think Disney needs to do a bit of a better job to get rid of the red clay/red rock. As a resident of South Louisiana, that just does not appear here at all. You do start to see red clay, a bit further north, but not much down here.
@@obnoxiouslegofan Well, if I ever go to Tokyo's Disneyland, I'll be sure to hit this ride up again. Splash Mountain is a classic and one of my all time favorites. Going on it reminds me of when I was a kid going on it with my parents. The theme and the music in Splash Mountain is so much better than this. If Disney insists on keeping it Princess and the Frog themed, they should go back to the drawing board and make it better.
After “first ride” feeling wears off, and you see past the gimmicks, you realize how cheap this ride is. It “looks pretty” but the foliage is the cheapest thing in the ride. Also the bayou scenes looks the same throughout, nothing unique in each turn. The same for the second part of the attraction. Then you have a story that really doesn’t add or reflects Tiana’s character. It is Disney Jr. level and you can replace Tiana with any princess or even mickey mouse and nothing changes. With how expensive Disney is, this ride is a complete ripoff.
I wish the spot with the bear family and the fox/wolf playing their instruments could have been a fox, bear, and rabbit playing instruments as a little tribute to splash mountain.
I was really hopeful and didnt want to be negative, and thought it would be awesome cause of how good the animatronics are, but it really isn't good at all! 😭 There's literally no story whatsoever and all the animatronics are so clumped together like wtf Disney! 😭😭
Real, I was at Disney a few days ago and at first I was devastated I couldn’t go on this but now that I’ve seen what it’s like, I’m glad I skipped the 40 minute queue and went on the haunted mansion instead. If you’re going to replace a classic, have a storyline at least- tbh I agree with what people said about having the dr doing voodoo at the top of the hill (claiming he was going to ruin this party) and singing “the other side” or another song of his, would have given us an actual threat in the story.
That wasn't a malfunction. The Animatronic was 'waiting' for the sensor to trip to activate the sound / animations. Not a glitch - THAT'S it's intended function.
They wasted an opportunity to add more capacity to the park by having this be a replacement for an already popular ride instead of an actual addition. That’s all I’ll say. Edit: Actually I do have more to say. Here’s the thing: TBA “functionally” serves as a replacement for Splash, but because of just how different the two are, it is never going to be an adequate *substitute* for Splash for everyone. Splash had a bouncy country-bluegrass style musical score and had a wacky cartoony vibe involving our three main characters getting into humorous antics. It also had a sense of foreboding and thrill with the giant briar patch at the bottom and the whole lift hill sequence. TBA has a much tamer, less thrilling vibe and the character antics of Splash have been replaced by scene after scene of non-talking critters just playing instruments. The music style AND approach to how said music is utilized is vastly different from Splash too. Now, will some people like TBA for these different things it’s trying to do? Sure. But for anyone who enjoyed Splash for any of the aforementioned reasons, that stuff is simply not here anymore. In a perfect world, the two could have coexisted and everyone could have been happy.
It is a classic story with characters seen and music heard by Walt Disney himself. Also there were multiple lessons including not to run away from home and stay out of trouble. Tiana’s is Disney Jr. level and I can replace the movie characters with mickey mouse characters and nothing would change.
EXACTLY! That was the most beautiful thing of the Splash Mountain. My mother always told me like, you see… The rabbit was not obedient to his mother and family and almost got eaten. It was a nice story where you learned that home sweet home is sometimes the best lesson you could get. This new ride is POOR.
Sorry chiming in weeks later because I think the actual moral of the story is missed in these comments. It's not about being obedient. It's about how you have to confront trouble in your life instead of running away. Brer Rabbit has problems that follow him (symbolically through Brer Bear and Brer Fox) and tries to run away, but realizes running away or ignoring it doesn't work. He has to confront it. The DL Splash Mountain had an Uncle Remus quote plaque that said "You can't run away from trouble...there ain't no place that far." I will concede there is a message of "home sweet home" but I'd argue that it ties into the main lesson; Brer Rabbit doesn't actually want to leave. It's just the length he was willing to go to avoid his problems, and once he confronts them, he can be home.
@@love-giftofafairytale3849 well, nice. That’s the magic that ride had… It had thousands of interpretations and every one of them is special. Now… Now we got NOTHING.

No hate to the ride at all, it looks really cute. But I’m wondering where Naveen is, and why Tiana is dressed like she’s going on a safari in almost every rendition of her animatronics here? Edit: I just found naveen in the final scene. Why is he behind everyone? Didn’t even see him the first time
It's really cool to see how they transformed the ride from Splash Mountain to Tiana's Bayou Adventure! 😮 I think it would be also cool to do some sort of side-by-side comparison to show what changed and maybe what they kept. 🤔

I still don’t understand what was wrong with splash mountain. I loved it! It was a great ride that had a story along the way and was one of my favorites. It will be dearly missed by many. It didn’t need to be changed. Disney should work on changing other things like their new movies and shows that aren’t anywhere near as good as what the used make.
I think its because the budget was taken up by the animatronics. I love them but this sucks
As delightful this ride seems to be, I can't help but be a little unnerved at seeing these characters in 3 dimensions. I'm glad the original movie was 2d, if it were 3d like the ones that came after it, i don't think it'd have nearly as much charm as it does!
Agreed
It’s the eyes. They look way too big in 3D.
Amen to that
They had to animate the characters like that so they'd resemble the animatronics you've most recently seen. It's basically the animatronics if they were perfect.
It was a little jarring but if they make a tv series i wouldnt be upset if they used those models from the ride.
my one gripe with all this besides there not being enough animatronics is that the drop doesn’t have that buildup to it
I don’t wanna compare all of this to Splash Mountain but that drop had a sense of dread to it, like you were about to plummet to certain death. with this it’s just “you’re gonna get to the party in no time”. like, we’re not even gonna be late to the party?
Yeah, it was scary AF. The rabbit was in a pot boiling with fire underneath it and those buzzards were telling you that you were about to die. lmao. They could have done a much better job of including the scary elements of the movie. e.g. voodoo, and of course, the shadow man..
They should have added Dr. Facilier before that 50 foot drop. They added no danger & suspense to the ride. The whole ride felt like it was aimed for preschoolers.
I didn't even notice the big drop ..I kept waiting to see it and didn't realize it had even happened....🤷
@@RobotScrambler that’s what I’m saying, this ride should’ve had a plot about Facilier escaping the shadow realm and wreaking havoc on the bayou

@@leggidicomputer991But Disney rides usually have no concern for continuity. Look at Star Tours, it’s just a bunch of places and you from fighting the separatist to the first order.
Soulless ride, simply going through the motions.
I was thinking the same thing. It’s beautiful ride now. But this was a swing and a miss.
Also there is no overall rising tension to the animatronic showcase or sorry plot of the ride

This is probably the only way I"m going to get to experience this ride. Thanks for the video. That turned out good too.

As much as i miss the old ride, rip Splash Mountain, I like to try to stay positive and give new experiences and attractions a chance. Im glad Tiana has a ride of her own, and Louis looks so cute. sorry but whilst the animatronics are really good that ride is absolutely boring... there was no build up to the final drop - it was just becoming normal size... and the screens used didn't work...the first half of the ride felt so empty...
considering this is supposed to be based on princess and the frog - the best they could do for the story is "let put a band together" -- they had an actual story of being turned into a frog, evil showdows etc... they so could have had it build to something more scary trying to escape and having that big drop -- the previous ride built up to that so much better.
i cant imagine this ride becoming a fan favourite
It's like Disney replacing The Great Movie Ride with Mickey and Minnie's Railway which is exactly like Ratatoillie and the Star Wars ride with different screens/movies. Boring. I'm sure it is cheaper to make the rides where you just have movies playing on screens as the ride but it's just so boring when every ride is that.
It’s so sad to see my favorite ride become just meh :(
In todays climate they need to tread lightly anything can be deemed “too scary” and become a PR nightmare for Disney so I guess they decided to place safe
What they could have done was a gang of bandits or something fitting with the theme of Frontierland, and I don't mean to replace the princess and the frog theme with bandits, have the bandits be the motive of the story instead of putting the band together

*The splash mountain at home* 😔

You should make a video with Splash Mtn and Tiana’s side by side synced up
Nvm. I see you already made one on your shorts channel
What is even going on here?

The Animatronic was 'waiting' for the sensor to trip to activate the sound / animations.
Not a glitch - THAT'S it's intended function.
I can't wait to ride Tiana's Bayou Adventure the next time we go to Magic Kingdom.
Very true!

Am I missing something? Splash mountain also had a great story to go along with the ride. Tiana’s just seems like a linear story with no lessons
Splash Mountain had a story other than the fox and the bear wanting to eat the rabbit?

This ride only exists because Disney wanted to punish us for enjoying Splash Mountain.
That might be true, but honestly, they couldn’t keep splash mountain etheir way, if u know what I mean
@@Grace-uo2gk yeah the show had racism and it was rlly bad
that’s a bit dramatic. splash mountain will always remain a beloved classic, but it was unfortunately outdated in multiple ways. it’s reasonable that they wanted to do something new with it
It's literally the same ride with a different theme It's not that deep bro I never knew people actually really cared so much for that lame song of south the movie
@ Never seen the movie. The ride itself was a lot of fun and I don’t like it being removed for such insane reasons.
Rip splash mountain 1992-2023 🪦💔
Fr
This ride is garbage
@@George_Fl0ydIkr
@@George_Fl0ydI completely disagree.

Bayou scene looks so real… 😮I love immersive rides. Animatronics are so smooth. Disney always does that right!
R.I.P splash mountain
Those animatronics!!! Amazing!
Can’t wait for the revamp back into splash mountain
yuck
Same
I’ve never been to Disney but I liked looking at splash mountain visually more than this tbh.
No Dr Facilier and Ray just on one screen... So sad, the characters are both great..
I love the fact they made a PATF ride, but I wish they could have just kept Splash mountain and made this a separate ride!! They charge people enough money, so I’m sure they can afford to build it!! Also, I feel they could’ve done a little more with this ride…the concept seems a little underdeveloped.
Thank you for sharing!!🙏👍
The original will be missed but it is so nice to see the new one finally done
The audio on this video is so incredibly immersive and high-quality that although I’ve watched it over twenty times, I keep finding myself taking out an earbud to just double-check that I am in fact using Bluetooth
Me: (Crying 😭) Splash Mountain… why did it have to end like this.
I know right it’s so disappointing 😔
Visiting all 6 Disney parks and all Universal parks in Florida next summer including Epic Universe in one go. Sooooo excited!!
Idk it feels lacking. Like a quick overlay
5:45 Feels like a nod to the classic Splash mountain with Brer fox and Brer bear
Awesome upgrade! This looks great. Can’t wait to ride it
How'd you like the cast member at 1:02 with her half-hearted wave? Such a 'this is my life now' vibe.
Anyway, thanks for this. Can't really afford Disneyland anymore so this is the next best thing.
