- My ATC 90 was not recieving spark so i pulled the magneto out, cleaned it. set the ignition timing because it was off, and adjusted the points gap. runs great now just needs a carb rebuild.

Man you really know your stuff !!!
Thanks a lot buddy u were a huge help
Are you sure you were on the compression stroke ?
Looks like you are 180 degrees off on the exhaust stroke
Cam spins half as fast as the crankshaft
Did you ever find the CDi inside the frame 😀
Excellent video, I have a 79 atc 90 and i am having that same problem, I will tell you how it pans out
Yeah mine quit running again recently and I think its my condenser. Make some videos of your project, I'd like to see. Thanks for watching!
man i hate points! i used to have a old 12a powered Rx7 with points. talk about a pain. nice little tutorial ya made here though.
@pisser20001 thanks man points are a mystery to a lot of people so i hope this vid is helpful thanks for watching bro!
@zx8401ztv yeah that is a very common problem, people put the cam in upside down and get their mechanical timing messed up, it will still run but then if they put the points lobe on assbackwards too then ignition timing is off, thats about the worst case scenario but with a little troubleshooting everything can be fixed
180 out!!, i had the same probem with a small motorbike i purchased, it just would not run, also the cam timing was 180 out, the previous owner swore he hadnt fiddled, lol, i didnt believe him :-)
@crownviclvr Big Reds and most every 1980's 3 Wheeler's use a CDI ignition which is a lot more reliable than the old point's system of spark advancement. The CDI is located on the head, right where the points are at on my ATC 90, and it is a magnet, instead of a lobe, that spins around on the end of the cam shaft advancing the spark. Thanks for watching and if you have any other questions please feel free to ask!
@paradoxdesigns yeah man there is a reason why points no longer exist! lol thanks for watching bro!
do you know if it would be the same for an 84 honda 200 big red?
@454jeepman The 200 atc's use CDI ignition and spark advance, not the primitive points and magneto system. CDI is much more reliable and was used on most atc's after the 70's
How would you bypass the headlight if you cannot find that switch
@POOHBEAR2170 thanks man alot of it comes from the internet but most is genetic! thanks for watching!
I'm starting to realize that the newer cdi, ignition coil systems are much easier to operate,Just plug and play.I hear that points are much more economical and better response ,is this true??
Where did u get the instructions
I don't know how people get cams in 180 degrees out. For valve timing, you line up the T on your flywheel. The cam sprocket has a dot that goes toward the top of the head. That's it. You can only put the cam in one direction (with lobes on their heels.) It's all in the manual.
im hoping its the cdi box
