    Fantastic video. Very informative and helpful 👍 as soon as I get my rings and valves I will be attempting this on my 83 110. Thank you for your effort and time

    Great video ! Quick question, what do you think would cause this? 1979 atc110 bolt end of camshaft has 2 bright shiny wear grooves.
    If you look, between the two bolts there are two circle recesses or rings almost like oil passages/grooves. Mine show wearing pretty good.
    If the chain wasn't on the guide disk that's bolted in the cylinder, then it would favor guiding the chain either inwards or outwards depending upon which side of that diak the chain was on. Or am i thinking about this correctly? Thanks.

    Great video, only takes 30 minutes.

      Glad it helped. It probably took longer to watch the video than to do the teardown. LOL.

    Bruce (I am SoCal Too!). I just had a bike i built in 1982 given back to me. I did the motor myself: 180cc 13:1 Beast. It was stored after only 5-10 hours if usage! I feel a cdi would be a better ignition for this motor and wondered if i could just take cdi/stator etc from a newer 110 and bolt in. any advice?

      You have a 1982 - What? ATC110? There wasn't an ATC180. Maybe you have an ATC185. If you have a 1982 ATC110 or 185, they already have the CDI ignition.

    Bruce, do all of these steps need to be followed if one were looking to gasket slap the top end? and will these steps work on a on older (1972) ATC90?

    • @SoCalBruce
      @SoCalBruce  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      OK. You got me. "gasket slap"? Exactly what do you want to do?

      @@SoCalBruce just replace all the gaskets on the top end

    • @SoCalBruce
      @SoCalBruce  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nickmcgrew1141 There is a base gasket between the cylinder and the cases. So you will need to follow all the steps. You will also need to remove the cover on the right side of the cylinder head to get to that gasket. When you reassemble, don't forget to set valve timing, valve clearance, point gap and ignition timing. As far as I know the 1972 ATC90 (US90) is the same.

    Would it be possible to put a points ignition motor from a 1980 into a 1982 (with the cdi ignition)? It clearly bolts right up, but what steps would I need to take to make it work? Could you just swap the cdi and the points? Or take the rest of the electrical system from one and put it on the other?

    • @SoCalBruce
      @SoCalBruce  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm. The CDI is a 12 volt system. So if you are going to 6-Volts, you will need to remove the CDI box and the coil handing under the frame and use the 1980 coil which I believe is located on the side of the frame. If you have the wiring harness from the 1980, it would be much easier to use it than to modify the 1982 wiring harness. And change light bulbs to 6-volt bulbs. I think the switches will be ok. It seems doable. But I've never tried it. Let me know how it worked out. I'd be interested.

    Bruce you didn't mention why the teardown.Perhaps were supposed to know. Also tou appear to have bought a rebuild package from hONDA

    Do you still have one of these?
    I’m reassembling my Honda 110 atc
    Below the CDi box there’s a bolt in the side of cylinder I removed mine years ago and can’t figure out which bolt goes in there

    • @SoCalBruce

      It might be the Cam chain guide roller pin. But let's hope not. If so the cam guide roller will fall down into the engine. You will have to remove the cylinder head (and possibly the cylinder) to fish out the roller.

      Spins freely has good compression
