Best album ever i recently read that the very first gig for flying burrito brothers was in early sixty nine at the whisky in Los Angeles their opening act Van Morrison. This of course was just a few months after release of astral weeks. Which sold ven less than the burritos great debut album gilded palace of sin. Admission was probably a couple of bucks. Van Morrison and the eternally great gram parsons their prime inone concert I cannot even imagine
True , he had 2 children with his ex wife but not 2 daughters but a son and a daughter , so if your going to share facts about a man who loves his children dearly please do him the credit of getting the details right and casts doubts on the authentic of the other so called facts in your article , it put a dubious slant on what appears to be a decent piece of journalism .
This is a disservice to Van the man, I went to the same High School a few years after ( Orangefield Boys) from what I was told by some of our mutual teachers he did not abandon his education there but never engaged. Left school to get monies needed to pursue his music. I remember one of my sisters only a few years older than myself coming home from a dance at I believe was the YMCA in May Street in Belfast raving about a band called Them. From there he rose to the beloved singer he is and never claimed to be a super star and is an inspiration to many musically and spiritually.
Two things: 1. What was the thing we DID NOT want to know? 2. The picture they used for "Janet Planet" seems to be a jazz singer from Oshkosh, WI who calls herself Janet Planet. I thought Janet Planet was 77 years old. Where is TH-cam when you need them?

Excellent. My friend 72 knows his daughter and his mom once told my friend my you got Irish blue eyes.i like van's song big time operators..Washing windows..he knows how to articulate like Roger Waters and undaunted with his opinions,an intellectual I'd say..thanx for the enlightening up load.kudos
This was very interesting to me since I met his band, the Them in the early 70s @ a recording session in someone's studio in Rocky Point, Long Island. Van, I was told in England at the time. I hung out with the studio owner for a while as I worked for his mother in her business unrelated to the music industry. I never felt more comfortable speaking to the assigned than that time. We concurred on what the recording needed & was chastened back upstairs by the owner. I think he was jealous that I was talking to Frog. Since we were not boyfriend & girlfriend I didn't realized what was going on. But that toe dip in that studio told me where I wanted to hang any chance I had.
One of my all-time very favorites ever - Love his voice and most of his songs. Sad to hear of his conspiracy theories and some crazy beliefs - having a child with diabetes is done all around the world - should not die of complications if taken care of correctly. Will always love the music

A lot of information regarding his private life and little known facts about his professional career - unless you have read the many biographies-this is an amazing look back at Van and the choices he's made and direction his career has taken. Unfortunately, it's time to retire from the spotlight for this moody & misunderstood genius😢

His early music was very good. Unfortunately, his lack of education shows, when he makes comments about science, something he has zero qualifications to speak about. Everyone's entitled to their opinions. I'll take medical advice from medical experts, not musicians and conspiracy theorists.

But without REAL science, we wouldn't have smartphones, computers, automobiles, aircraft, modern medicine, and virtually everything we rely upon in our daily lives.
