Without Waters' vision and lyricism, Pink Floyd would never have produced such timeless and meaningful material - mostly on Dark Side, Wish You Were Here, and The Wall - that went far beyond Gilmour's memorable, soaring guitar solos. After their first album post-breakup ("The Division Bell"?), I recall Waters' comment that it was a fine "imitation of a Pink Floyd album," and I agreed. It was enjoyable, but lyrically, just not at the same level as before. Gilmour and Waters each had to go their own way (like McCartney and Lennon, respectively) and we shouldn't fault either for the split. It had to happen. Personally, I respect the bravery of Waters to continually speak out about the massive injustices done to a large portion of humanity, while Gilmour and his wife, Polly, simply continue to create nice music.

Ian Gillan is POS. All he did was scream. Robert Plant call him a copycat. Ritchie blackmore founded and named the band Deep Purple. All their major hits - Ritchie Blackmore composed the melody, and all the lead guitars, with Jon Lord - most dynamic duo musician. After Ritchie left, Deep Purple has zero hits. Now they are just a tribute band without Ritchie.

Err, is it just me but Chris Slade wasn't in the studio for The Wall. Nick Mason was. So why would he know how Waters and Gilmour interacted in the studio during the Wall?

Hey, in the 80s I saw him play with The Firm and also AC/DC in Detroit city. Hard to forget his bald head and flashing teeth. I have seen Waters solo shows probably four times over the years. Never seen Gilmour on his own.

There has always seemed to be two camps of Pink Floyd fans, Gilmour and Waters. I'm a Gilmour guy and have never been able to understand Waters guys. I think that a lot of the best Floyd songs and records were the ones they did after Waters. The rest of the band stayed as Floyd with Gilmour not Waters. What has Waters done since the eighties other than play The Wall every few years? Nothing. Gilmour's made records with some of the best musicians of any generation and toured new music with and without Floyd. Waters vision would have been "You can't have any pudding if you don't eat your meat." worthy, at best, without the rest of those guys.

Brown's rendition of his song "Rock Me On The Water" continually made me think that it was an introduction to "Load Out". Linda did it much better. That's how the music business works.

Tbh, when I think of Pink Floyd, I think of Gilmour before I think of Waters.

What a shame it played out this way, imagine what might have been. Personally, I love David's guitar playing, I rank him among the best. PF from Meddle to Wish You Were Here were a real force, what a great series of albums. Animals was still very high calibre, but a slight step back as Waters was asserting his dominance. The Wall, to me, is way too self indulgent RW, and apart from a couple of highlights, mostly featuring killer DG, wasn't a great album. I'm so happy that the rest of the band carried on, basically giving Waters the middle finger. Look at that last gig they did with all four members, RW looks like he's loving it and DG looks like he can't wait for it to be over, kinda says it all.

Why titles like this, let us hear what they said (Chris Slade) and not your monologue which can be whatever you want??? And you are in fact ordinary slobs who want your poor promotion!!!

I agree with most people here. Without J. Fogerty, there would be no musical success for Stu and the others. No one would even be posting something like this on TH-cam because the other 3 would have been insignificant without John. From a friendship perspective, maybe John was a jerk? but from a making it in the business perspective, Stu and the boys should be extremely thankful for him.
