Dude, you are so good at this. Your ability to wrap up and deliver your ideas is so thoughtful and the production is so clean and distinct compared to camera TH-cam at large. Really loved this one.
My first camera was a Russian rangefinder camera (brand unknown). I then bought an Olympus OM-1n and a 50mm lens. My first X100 was the S, followed many years later (and many other cameras later too) by the V. That was replaced by the VI (see your other video on the VI for my cameras recent visit to the Fujifilm repair centre). I just love the fixed lens, and using a 35-40mm focal range 🏴
I purchased a new X100V to upgrade my iPhone photography and couldn’t be happier. It’s an excellent camera … definitely worth the 7 months I had to wait for delivery. At least I only paid the Fuji MSRP and supported my local camera shop. PS: My forest green metallic ’99 Boxster never looked so good!
Loved your experiment with letting different people try out the X100V. Narrowed down the use case for this camera which is a pretty specific niche in the grand scheme of photography. Anyone who loved the switch from digital to film would probably also enjoy using the X100V. A ton of people would always ask me which camera to get and I've pretty much tempered their expectations to sticking with their iPhone since they aren't thinking about the entire photography process. I think with the ever evolving tech of in-phone software editing, people are going to be more reluctant from switching to something like an X100v which feels more "manual". Great video again!
Your comment reminded me of when a friend of a friend asked me for camera recommendations. She wasn't too interested in photography but wanted something to take photos on a big overseas trip. I recommended a Canon large sensor compact like the G1x because it was reliable, had good output, and a reasonable zoom, and could fit in her purse. She ended up buying an entry level Nikon DSLR because the shop assistant recommended it (I'm a full time pro but nevermind). She hardly used the Nikon on the trip because it was too big. She carried it with the lens OFF the body to save space! 😂 A year later, I was asked to recommend a small camera because she was traveling again. I declined because I knew my suggestion was going to be superseded by some shop guy again.
I don't have TikTok, so I was unaware of the trend until I started seeing tons of x100v TH-cam videos come up on my feed. I thought to myself "Why is everyone hyping up this camera". I saw a video from a creator who said "this camera made me love photography again". Ive been shooting for 15 years and the last 5 or so years ive been more into videography. But to anyone who sees this, and is thinking about getting this camera I want to say one thing.... get it. It's literally the best, funnest camera you will own. I'm not sure why but it makes me want to shoot everything I see and ive captured so many memories in the last 6 months with it. It's my favorite purchase in a long long time.
Dude, so well explain short & sweet! You just convinced on Fuji x100v! Taking pictures for me these days, it’s all about fun and convenient. Now I have to be patient to get one:) Thanks
loved mine and had it for a year or so. I do miss how "pocketable" it is but I sold it for way more than what I got it for which helped offset my used Q2 purchase.
@@TheGlassEyeTV I really like the IQ, colors, Leica design ethos. I also have an SL2 that I got after and feel I could just get a sigma 28/2 and be happy too. But then my everyday carry just gets bigger and bigger. I shouldn’t complain since I shoot large format film which is a 27# load out!
I’m not sure what the refresh was between the F and the V, but we might be getting close to an X100V2. I only have a couple teeny complaints about the X100V (focus mode switch and the SD card location) and if the focus-mode switch is addressed, i would be tempted to upgrade. best camera ever.
Very curious what they’ll come out for the next gen. I’m hoping they include 10bit video and FLOG2. It would make it quite the beast of a little random b-roll camera.
I agree with your point that we can also emulate whatever look we want in post. It’ll take some time to setup initially, but to apply it to each image will take about 10 seconds (you need a benchmark for the images you’d be applying to, though) It will take more time compared to having it in the camera, but the advantage is you can also do it with any camera + lens combination.
Great video. I had a Leica CL with 4 lenses and got a X100V. Loved it. It was a sweet little shooter. Sold both of those to get a Leica Q2. I learned I really prefer a camera with a fixed focal length.
I was interested in it long before v version came out. I wanted this camera for it’s size , but wanted water resistance and ibis. The 100v didn’t have ibis, but I got it anyway. Glad I got it about 6 months before the hype.
I'm waiting for the hype to fade, it will take a few years before it will be affordable, but with this version I believe Fujifilm brought the best of the camera to life
I’ve bought & sold several at retail/just below retail over the last year. Can be found for not ridiculous prices.. even direct from Fuji but you gotta be on it for when Notify Me turns to Add to Cart. Those inventory notifications are waste of time.
had an x100t for about a year and i loved the pocketability, but the AF was slow and in practice the rangefinder proved to be more of a gimmick than allowing me to anticipate the scene better. I sold it, bought a full frame DSLR, and with the money I made from shooting with that I bought an Olympus EM10 mkii and the lumix 20mm f1.7. It does practically the same thing as the x100 (minus the leaf shutter and high sync speeds), has much faster autofocus, a nicer viewfinder. If I ever get sick of the 40mm focal length, there are plenty of micro 4/3 compact primes around.
i don't know how I stumbled over this camera, I am a Hobbyist, shoot with Canon, a 1DX (old!) and a 1Ds Mark II (yes, ancient!), so that's the bodies I really like. But I always thought of having a small pocketable camera, making some street stuff again, watched the Ricoh over the years, but this is out cause bad battery and no viewfinder (my eyes don't like that, getting older). So I saw this camera, looked videos, read something, played with it in a store round the corner which has it for rent...it actually has some of the things I want...it has an Optical Viewfinder, the Lens is in the end ca 35mm (the only focal length I use for years), f/2 is solid, the body seems to have weather sealing (at least combined with a filter). That its not available right now is actually a good thing, gives me more time and when it will be I can decide if it was just an idea or if I really want it. Still it's an expensive camera. And i`m not quite sure about the ergonomics...we`ll see.
35mm focal length is my go to as well for a prime. If you’re used to the Canons I think the little Fuji would serve its purpose as a fun, everyday camera
Not at the inflated prices for sure... You can easily emulate an X100V with a ILC rangefinder from your fave brand (Sony, Olympus, Panasonic, heck even other Fuji models) and a prime lens having 35mm. Granted it might not be as pretty as the X100V and probably not as compact but for sure you're gonna save a lot of money and later on you can change lenses for added flexibility outside street photography.
The video is excellent, however, it appears that prices have remained almost unchanged for the past two years, even for the previous x100f model, which you can barely find under 1000 Euros.
That last point, thank you! Really want this camera for the film simulation (I shoot film for fun, namely with my Horizon camera, and love the grain and the color, still have my dinosaur Lumix GF1 20mm for digital, jpg as I hate postprocessing )... really hope the hype will die soon.
Don’t think it’s more pocketable than my A7C and prefer the versatility of the Sony, like using a tilt/shift or a 50mm f/1.4 and like Sony’s color science as well. So, jury still out on whether I’ll keep the X100F I recently bought to check it out. I find it kinda weird honestly, but hey…
I would like to purchase an C200V for the benefits you mention. On the other hand, I’m not prepared to wait several months delivery or pay a premium above the MSRP for a used body. I’m hoping an X100VI will be announced soon with the new sensor and IBIS. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)

That’s exactly why there will loads on the used market once it’s back on the streets when buyers realise the camera doesn’t live up to the hype. Fuji have a huge supply chain problem at the moment and obviously it’s affecting sales. It’s pointless having a great sports car for sale if you haven’t got any stock. Influencers on TH-cam will lead you to believe (which is their job) that Fuji is the best selling cameras out there when in reality it’s far from the truth. I was in B&H the other day when I was visiting NY and the size of the fuji stand told me everything I needed to know, it was a tiny little space in the corner. Canon, Sony, Nikon are the big players & Panasonic not far behind. Fuji is a niche product that has great TH-cam & social media interest.
@@IanCassanova lmao the size of the stand is how you came to this conclusion? Wow. @@ovrxpsd Fujifilm does make really great cameras, but they are indeed still quite a niche compared to the other brands and they've been hit by the supply chain problem much more.
