You guys have me studying about Portugal's history and culture now. It's very interesting. It's so sad that places like this are left to rot. I guess that's the way it goes for everything eventually.

The White pottery cylinder you found is for water purification. Most often found in a Pharmacy. It would have a spout at the bottom of which was used to dispense purified water. France crafted many between 1890 and 1920 during a time when water purification was of course essential for public health. Otherwise, Bravo' Bravo' on a magnificent exploration. My Grandfather and Father came from Hungary my last name Boros means winemaker that is exactly what they were. I was waiting for you to mention than marvelous wine aroma something one never forgets. Congratulations on this most historical and engrossing exploration as if I were there with you. Thank you for allowing us to explore with you. Much love from a dedicated fan!

This couple moved to the United States and lived in Massachusetts. He has passed away. He served in the military for 40 years. My ex husband and his family immigrated from Portugal around the same time. Nothing really sinister about this family leaving. A lot of Portuguese families had to leave everything behind like this family did. 😊

Bom trabalho.

The toys look like they are from the 1960's. The children would be in their 60's now. Why wouldn't the children come back to salvage the antiques? Were the memories just too painful? Do they live far away now and it's too expensive to ship the bigger items? This was very interesting. I've never seen how people lived in Portugal. Thank you guys!

That round you put on head, was used to put boxes or buckets on head and woman walk without needed hands to hold . I'm from a small fishing beach in Portugal and my grandmother had a lot of them to transport the buckets with fish.
I used also and is hard😅.

You guys make the absolute best videos, you are my number one favorite creator on TH-cam. I have to tell you, when a piece of clothing is inside out, that’s not upside down lol… It’s just inside out, but yeah, I can understand why she did that because it would keep the outer part of the dressfrom getting dust and such while it hangs in the closet. But I had to laugh when you said it was upside down, and that prompted me to leave a comment.😂😂😂😂

Hey dear Lesley, that was so very enjoyable to watch you exploring this huge Portuguese farmhouse. There were so many interesting and unique items visible throughout the whole place. The attic part of your explore was so especially fascinating with these many antique items you found up there. I loved watching your presentation together with Danny of that portable table with the folded seats. - It was unbelievably exciting to follow you in mind through a lot of these still very well preserved really time capsule like rooms. Some had so beautiful furniture with very decorative wood carvings. - I also nearly screamed, when Lesley tested that greasy substance from a chest in the cellar! 😮
It was also a great pleasure to see Danny occasionally and to listen to his interesting explanations. Additionally I have to say once more, how excellent his camerawork is! Respect! And - I love his choice of the beautiful background music! - I can also only agree to your statement, dear Lesley, that a place like that should be preserved because of the historical value it represents. - The connection to the German war history, the former owner had, was also something quite misterious, as you pointed out, when showing old uniform pieces. - A wonderful and very fascinating explore, which I enjoyed rewatching a second time, dear bro!
Take care, stay safe, peace and kindest regards.

When you were in the secret wine cellar, and Danny dropped a piece of wood into that hole that fell down into a deep well filled with water. I was terrified, I would have run screaming out of space.
In thinking about why these historical homes are left with the families belongings for decades I personally wouldn’t do that. I love history and mementos of family and I would not leave those things but my son however would just throw in a match and walk away because he is definitely not interested in anything old.

59:05 it’s a mantilla which was (and sometimes still is) worn to church for a woman’s head covering. Used to be required in the Catholic Church, but nowadays is optional and used mostly by traditional leaning Catholics.
