As a Gief player since SFV, he has come leaps and bounds since then. In SFV, his juggles were oddly restrictive (e.g. c. HP can only combo into sweep, you can't continue the juggle with any other normal), and he had maybe 3 combos. So even seeing him having actual combos in Season 1 of SF6 was fantastic. its always weird when there are certain moves in fight games like that double stomp that just has no utility outside of "it is a move in their moveset". no comboing off it, cant be comboed in to, cant be cancelled. so its nice to see that changed for once in one of these.
As a Zangief main, I'm nothing but amazed by how awesome he feels in the new patch! He feels great to play compared to before and I absolutely love what they did!
Holy f they turned Gief into a combo monster and the universal change for parry also buffed his command grab. But I'm baffled when i saw some Gief main said these buff are useless lol, when in fact these buff catapult his strength through the roof. In season 1 Gief is low tier but this season he's definitely at least B+ or A tier.
No hes still probably low tier, probably a more fun one, maybe even if youre high a mid tier. None of these changes make him a higher tier characfer, just more powerful in the things hes already good at and put him a tiny bit more in line with simple things that the rest of cast can do. He still has the worst wakeup defense in the game, the weakest and most inconsistent non punish counter combos, terrible anti airs. Etc etc. He is much better now but only in a more functional capacity. Saying he went from bottom 3 to high tier is crazy

Super lvl 2 with 18 frame startup only for charged version and it is FAIR considering it has *complete invicibility from frame 1-18 and invicibilty against projectile from frame 19-122* . The charged version also gave juggle combo + corner carry. As for Super lvl 2 without charge, it *doesn't even have frame startup* aka it'll come out the moment you finish the input and it gave bigger damage + side switch property compare to charged version. And yes, he did has moves with invicibility. Normal lariat has *invicibilty against projectile from frame 6-45* , OD lariat has *projectile invicibility from frame 1-36 and mid-air attack from frame 6-12* . Not to mention Gief has armor for his bear grab and heavy punch charge. So what more do you want here, a raging demon for Gief? 2) You know it is BS if you really played Gief. His bnb headbutt > hellstab / crouch MP > lariat is really consistent and gave good damage. Stomps were special cancellable but only on the thrid hit which doesn't combo from the second hit. And for air spd, the problem was that it straight up couldn't combo eithout meter
You have to time each drive rush after the jab and you will be able to connect with certain follow ups. If you do it to early, you end up canceling the jab and losing 3 bars, if you delay till after the cancel window you can get raw drive rush. It's not super easy, maybe for some players but in general it's difficult.
Does that headbut combo only work on blanka? I can't seem to hit Ryu after Super 2, but I did notice (not sure if before,) but you can OD SPD to Super 3, which is just fantastic. Edit: Noticing it might be character specific.
All I can think of when seeing this is the fear Snake Eyez will instill in more players.

Blanka is a big boy, for most of the roster you need to a micro walk and then the headbutt will connect but it’s a bit of a pain
